Winter - 05
Ahh... how we got snowed in!! One of the best winter photos taken a few days after New England's first seasonal snowstorm. This showcases the afternoon shot as if everywhere in this area was totally shoveled in.
St. Peter and Paul Cathedral is one of the most important showplace in Czech Republic and view point number one in Brno. Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul is also pictured on Czech ten Koruna coin.

The heavy rains soak all the streets here and since it is hilly, we get lots of floods and it makes it difficult to walk anywhere without getting soaked. One definitely must wear rain gear and always carry an umbrella as even when not raining, it can start suddenly as we are surrounded by mountains and the clouds dump that moisture on us! Yikes! I often get caught!

[This is the first of a set of four photos, continuing my theme on Trees this month. I'm reposting for contacts who may not have seen it, and because I'm still too caught up with work to process a new image. New satellite connection is also making Flickr almost impossible to navigate, or is it Flickr that is difficult? Anyone notice problems using tabs in Flickr? Let me know! Thanks!]
It was a chilly winter afternoon, night was fast approaching, and few people were out in the park. By the Jardin des Tuileries just south of the Louvre one can walk along this terrace that runs just opposite the Musee d'Orsay, by the Seine. When I saw these two chairs, so empty, almost forlorn, it was as if there was still a conversation in the air. One could almost see two friends sitting here, enjoying the afternoon. Certainly the trees had plenty to say. Their wintry silhouettes seemed to be having quite a lively time!! In all this silence, and seeming emptiness, something was speaking to me and I had to take out my camera to record it.
The photo was taken with a camera I am no longer using, the Fuji Finepix S7000, several years ago. It begged to be uploaded today, so here you are! Now let's go have an espresso together. It's getting cold standing here in the park. :o)
Dynon Road West Melbourne. The bike path has been modified for the metro tunnel works. And now crosses the creek over the road instead of under it.
One of several projects, that explore photography as evidence amongst other ideas.

Still playing with textures, Flickr friends. :0) Thanks for stopping by!
This is a scene along the Canal du Midi, in southern France, near the Montagne Noir. The Canal du Midi joins the Atlantic to the Mediterranean via the Garonne River. Little streams from the Montagne Noir nearby were diverted and held in this pond in case the water level of the canal ever needed to be adjusted. This pond is THE middle point along the canal, between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic....kind of like the Continental Divide is the middle point of the east and west slopes of the Rocky Mountains.
Voici la page internet de Wikipedia ou l'on peut trouver une excellente histoire et description du Canal, un oeuvre exceptionel des ingenieurs de l'epoque: fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canal_du_midi
Here's a great description of the Canal du Midi, an amazing feat of 17th century engineering! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canal_du_Midi. I really recommend checking out both French and English Wikipedia links for pictures of this great canal. I've added an excerpt in a comment below.
Thanks to the following Flickr friends for textures: Le Grand ("Glass"), Bocaccino ("93BB"), and SkeletalMess ("Tainted").
I like this time of year when all the tree show off their form! I used one of Flickr's filters on this one and then added a bit of glow with DXO. Click on image for best view.
Winter is not just white, dark and cold.
Come here and enjoy something more bold.
Forget warm coats and the long night
Let it light! Let it light! Let it light!
Sim-wide winter and Christmas landscape at 21strom in Second Life is now complete. Enjoy it;)
We seemed to have a extended long cold season in the winter just past.
We have now the summer arrived in town.
But the winter was like not long ago.
This is my shot in our extended winter time at Minoru Park.
Taken from plane porthole window, this scene of trees in fog caught my eye. It was still in US Territory, possibly past Seattle area, but I am not sure exactly where. We were on our way home from LV to Vancouver.
