Winter - 02
The day after its first snowstorm, you find yourself outside at 4:20 in the afternoon and it's just about getting dark. Seriously, there's at least no joke here whenever the lower in daylight, the more colder you feel.

I... Who all the winter through... Cherished other loves than you...
And kept hands with hoary policy in marriage-bed and pew...
Now I know the false and true...
For the earnest sun looks through...
And my old love comes to meet me in the dawning and the dew...
Now the hedged meads renew...
Rustic odour, smiling hue...
And the clean air shines and tinkles...
As the world goes wheeling through...
And my heart springs up anew...
Bright and confident and true...
And my old love comes to meet me...
In the dawning and the dew....
~Robert Louis Stevenson~

Photo diary
I found another spot where I thought I might be able to capture a nice golden hour shot if I was lucky. So, one late afternoon, I went on a photo walk there carrying a DSLR (for pre-shoot exposure and composition check) and a film camera. The sun was just about going down. I held my DSLR up to my eye and, just as I was about to press the shutter button, a group of young runners passed across the frame. I hung fire until they disappeared from the frame. But wait, this can make a great shot! A Kodak moment! I clicked the shutter button. And this is what I got. As for the film camera, I could capture a beautiful sunset after the runner was gone, I thought…but alas, I misjudged the time and temperature when developing the film with old developer which was nearing a complete exhaustion. When I took the film out of the tank, it was completely transparent. Not even the frame numbers were visible. Ouch.

I went out for a photowalk, hoping to capture a beautiful golden hour shot. Alas the sky was gloomy with lots of thick clouds. Shall I go home without taking a photo? At a time when film prices are going up and up and up, what's the point of wasting frames with dull photos? But...I just could not resist.

I was , once again on a chilly bright morning sitting in the car outside the Opticians. Facing me as I gazed around were these delightful almost "dolls' houses" but I couldnt see them properly for branches. So out I got, not really dressed for standing outside, stood much nearer, on the grass, under the trees and just lost myself in drawing. I SO enjoyed this one..feeling the wind, the Winter sunshine..breathing it all in. And such a lovely memory to take back with me after so much drawing either indoors or confined in the car.
Photographed using the Kodak KB10, and Fujifilm Superia X-Tra 400 film.

Sydney Uni Winter Trees
Named after William Wentworth, one of the leading figures in the colony of New South Wales, the Wentworth Building was built in 1971. This building contains most of the food outlets on campus as well as many health services, banks and shops.
It is one of the brutalist buildings on the University of Sydney campus.

I first saw these trees from a distance a couple of days beforehand. They looked so wonderful on the skyline that I wanted to go back and see them closer to. They make such lovely strong shapes.
Following a path through trees at the end of the lake. It's not tack sharp and maybe it's a bit dull....but I like the almost painted thing this one has going on. And it was so peaceful being here. Walking into some open space soon. Promise ;-)
