One heck of a substorm was in progress when I scrambled out of the truck and setup the camera...near Tigerton, WI on September 1, 2016. To put this display in perspective, this was shot at 11mm and you see it here with no cropping...

A southbound sand train has a clear signal at North Weyawega as a dying storm approaches...I was out trying to get lightning shots but the line fell apart as it got close. I was left scrambling to find foreground interest as my original locations wouldn't work...then I realized I was close to this control point. The new LED signals that CN has been installing are definitely bright- I knew they were bright from the locomotive but didn't expect them to show up so well in photos.
Near Weyawega, WI May 17, 2017.

A Martinair Md-11 on short final for runway 06 during a very humid morning. The MD-11 is the airliner that is most likely to create these sort of scenes. That is a result of it's very large flaps sections and winglets
On the first domestic flight by Norwegian Air Shuttle in Spain (BTW, I really really miss my Nokia Lumia 930, you get spoiled and it is easy to forget how a lousy cellphone cam feels like when you get home)
A riot of color in the sky....I'm sort of running out of adjectives to use to describe these scenes...everything here was naked-eye visible, albeit a bit dimmer than the camera sensor saw it.
Also of note in this shot is The Andromeda Galaxy (top, right of center) and The Pleiades (just above the horizon, right of center). The orange at lower right is light pollution, probably Wanipigow on the other side of Lake Winnipeg.
