I was driving north in an attempt to get out from under the clouds to see whatever Lady Aurora was going to do....when an excellent substorm happened. Didn't have any more time to scout for a location and was just trying to get a good north view. Pulled over on this road and was happy to see this farm silhouetted by the lights. Can't say I even mind the clouds here either. Near Big Falls, WI early on September 1, 2016.

I was hoping that my first post-Canada trip auroras would not be too much of a disappointment...thankfully the Lady did dance, and it was spectacular. There was a roughly two hour window between twilight and the moonrise, and this substorm exploded halfway through that. Auroraville, WI November 7, 2017.
