I saw this tiny little tree at the end of the path being framed by the larger trees:)

Well, beautiful Arran stands proudly on the horizon ~ it's very dependant on the weather when it comes to viewing from this distance. Sometimes, it can't be seen due to low lying clouds and rain but when the sunshine is out it always looks lovely!!

Thanks to Linda for reminding that "horizon" can work for us this week 😉

I love happening upon a lovely sunset in a place where it is easy to stop. I took this shot almost a year ago. I had spent the day in beautiful countryside and was on my way home with lots of good shots already taken when I was able to stop and add a lot more.

7 Days of Shooting – Week #32 (w/b 12 February) Mess and Mayhem

not everything or everywhere is nice and tidy we may have one of those “secret” places where bits and pieces are thrown in as opposed to placed within! Unfortunately, some urban areas aren’t tidy and clean as people just drop their rubbish as opposed to place in the appropriate litter bins! So, let’s see how photogenic we can get with all that mess and untidiness!

Do you brush the cobwebs away?

Here comes the Sun

After so long without using Flickr, really hoping I can come back to this little corner that taught me so much and brought me so many happy moments.

32/52 (On Your Way Home)

Tricky theme for me, ´cause I spent the whole week away from home... Kinda works in a historical sense, hopefully!

Sound: Over There by Glenn Miller and the Army Air Force Band

This week's 52Frame assignment was on the topic of night photography, this is my runner up. After the ballgame ended and the fans had left, I noticed a lone car with one person standing outside of it in the distance. I found the scene to be interesting and decided to take a photo of it.

Week 32 Theme: OLYMPIC SPIRIT

The title is because of what happened outside just after the photo :-)

okay, I have to confess that most of my flares are accidents. I was taking pictures of these blossoms because I liked the light when all of a sudden I saw the flare flash on the screen. oooh, oooh, flare!

so, here's my happy accident for the Against the Light/Flare theme at 52 of 2011!

I think the colors look nice viewed on black--click in the center of the picture to see.

32/52 FRAMED theme. As seen at a local farmer's market.

Not sure whether this is right or not - it goes against my own "artistic" eye to have a lack of colour and contrast in a photo! lol

Week #32 - Theme: Sign, sign everywhere a sign

Hope this counts as an expression :) It's not easy to get anything but a pitiful expression from a Dane but i think i captured her longing to get off the couch to get the ball.

She is never allowed on the couch but this is an old one now used outside under a lean-to, she has no problem lying there but that ball sure is tempting :)

This is almost a three person couch for those of you commenting on her size :)

Well, when taking a woodland walk I did expect to find some green ... lots of green!!

This was my turning point from yesterday's long walk ~ the old ruin of Greenan Castle is always a place I enjoy visiting! The clouds and weather set the scene for my shot!

7 Days of Shooting/Week #32/Silhouette/Unusual PoV Tuesday

Sightseers on Calton Hill Edinburgh

I wanted an excuse to own one of these glass balls, so this week's challenge was a good excuse. Oh, so much to learn. For one, I think I need a smaller one since my short arms wouldn't let me extend enough to get much in the background. Then, with the wind moving the flowers and my weaker (left) arm trying to hold it up, it was hard to capture the dream photo I was going for. But I'm happy enough with my first attempt at this technique.

Sorry this has been upoaded a few days late I've had a busy last few days to my holiday so didn't get a chance to upload this.

Although, it was somewhat misty this morning it was beautifully tranquil out at sea. This was the view looking across to Arran with Lady Isle and its lighthouse.

Oh, I do enjoy walking when the weather is calm and peaceful!

greensheen hill

This week we walked St Cuthbert's Way from Melrose in Scotland to the lovely island of Lindisfarne in England, and then followed the unspoilt Northumbrian Coastline northward to Berwick-on-Tweed.

It amounted to exactly 100 miles in 6 days (including side excursions) and was a great way to forget about work. We explored river-sides, hills, blooming heather, the Cheviots, and the wonderful Pilgrims Way walk across the sands (and stinky mud) to reach Lindisfarne...

One of the many side excursions was just beyond St Cuthbert's Cave to Greensheen Hill. An unassuming place except that it has a trig point with magnificent views to the coast on one side and to the Cheviot Hills on the other...

So here is the Greensheen Hill trig point, looking out to the coast with the Holy Island of Lindisfarne visible on the right…

Have you ever heard the sound a Cable Car makes when it's coming at you barrelling down the hills of San Francisco? It's a very loud Ding Ding Ding.

This image is my interpretation of what it would look like if you looked up to find a cable car racing at you. Thankfully I was able to create the effect in this picture with my zoom lens and I did not have to stand in the path of a 3,000 pound cable car to get the shot...

Nature in all of its stages are my favorite things. It is in nature that I find balance and solace for my soul and mind. There is something calming when observing nature in all of its stages.

The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quite alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature. As longs as this exists, and it certainly always will, I know that then there will always be comfort for every sorrow, whatever the circumstances may be. And I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles.Anne Frank

The poetry of the earth is never dead.John Keats

Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature–the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.Rachel Carson
