little photoshoot with my brother in the snow, we were totally alone..
I don't know what it is, but every time I do something different to my hair I hate the results. I.E., every time I go lighter than my natural hair color (black / dark brown) I hate it. I have highlights in my hair right now and I'm not satisfied with them. I'm probably just saying this because I hate wearing my hair straight. I LOVE my big curly/wavy hair! That's what defines me, my BIG hair.
Weird things happen at night. The orange line goes to O'Hare and Forest Park. The blue takes two routes north and south. The purple and red merge to form the pink, which goes to Oak Park and the south side. The (lime) green goes to Evanston (and the loop during rush hour periods).

I was baptised when I was born.
I studied at a catholic school.
I chose a subject on Religion for 3 years in high school.
And then, one day... I came to realize that I DO believe in something powerful behind creation, behind destiny... an energy, an entity, a magic... that I might also call God... but I grew tired, frustrated and annoyed with the way Catholic church works... their crusade against personal freedoms, their campaigning against the use of condoms or most important, their hatred towards the difference... in the part that affects me, the condemnation of homosexuality.
If God said "Love one another like I have loved you" and he didn't reject anyone... why would anyone have to label others and try to stop them from being who they are or loving who they want?
That said, I believe that some GREAT people exist in the Catholic Church, that really do a beautiful job in helping people in need of support and guidance... but overall, I believe that ANY religion that is anchored and based in traditions over 2 millenium old needs to take a step forward into the present and realize the world is not the same and that they need to open up to the specific realities of life today.
Then again, this is MY opinion. You'll have yours. And I respect it like I hope you'll do with mine. For that is how it should work regarding difference: I acknowledge it, I learn about it, and if it doesn't fit my belief, I learn to co-exist with it, live and let live.

I took a break from putting down some wood flooring to get some pictures of several hummingbirds that are always flying around the feeders and eating. They are thick at my daughters farm that we have been working on.
On 8 July 2009 date Alex Turner aka Monaxle was arrested in Chatham High Street. His crime – taking photographs with a camera!!!
Along with other members of the Flickr Medway Group I shall be taking part in a Photographers’ Rights Demo in Chatham on Saturday. If you would like to learn more about what happened to Monaxle the link below is a good place to start.
To balance things out in the world of the 52 week project I used my younger daughter this week before she developed a complex about how her older sister was used twice already. Also, here's a little known fact about dinosaurs: they hate first person autobiographical narratives about horses. I mean they reeeeally loathe them. The more you know..
Jelly Babies were launched by Bassett's in 1919 in Sheffield as "Peace Babies" to mark the end of World War I. Later to be renamed as Jelly Babies in 1953.
I'm allowed to look but not to eat these, my husband eats them on training runs. These are not available in Norway so we have to stock up anytime we are in UK.

I have always loved seeing beautiful roses and they always are beautiful ~ my late father was a very keen gardener and used to grow many different coloured roses. I guess for that reason I've always enjoyed being in their "company!"

I mentioned in my Runnin' With the Devil entry that I'd written 12,000+ words in the two weeks previous. Since then, I've more than doubled that. My current word count is at 25,000+ words, and counting. (For reference, that's about one-quarter the length of an average novel.)
And, wouldn't you know it, I've fallen behind in my 52 Weeks project again. I don't care, really. I'm focused on my writing, and that's far more important to me. Below are two writing samples, and I'm curious which sample you like best. I won't say who wrote which, not until after all responses are in. I will say only that both samples are from fantasy stories. (I will add that both writing samples are copyrighted, so don't think that you can take them and get away with it.)

Sample #1:
Kiron, Wingleader of First Wing of the Jousters of Sanctuary, woke from a dream that his lover Aket-ten was nuzzling his ear to find that his ear was being nuzzled, but not by Aket-ten.
He sat up with a yell, startling the half-grown kitten that had been trying to nurse on his earlobe into instant flight. He felt its sharp claws dig momentarily into his shoulder as it leaped away into the darkness, and though he had certainly felt worse pain in his life, he bit back a curse.
With a growl, he turned over on his pallet and tried to get back to sleep. Below him, channeled up through the stair cut into the living stone of his dwelling, he heard Avatre snoring gently, or at least, as gentle in snoring as a dragon ever got. He couldn't actually see anything, because it was pitch-dark in this room. He wondered how the cat could see.
Avatre was below him, not just beyond the door of the little room he'd been calling "home" for the last several months, because ready or not, the Jousters had been forced to make the move to the desert city they had initally dubbed "Dragon's Court" and now called Aerie. The city they called Sanctuary, the place they had all thought would serve for years, was filling up with people, and fast. Priests, acolytes, the army of servants and slaves required to tend to them—those had come from Alta and Tia alike. The press of priests and their followers alone had shoved the Jousters out of quarters they had only just gotten used to. And that didn't even begin to deal with the visitors . . . all eager to see the first Voice of the Gods of both Alta and Tia ever. And the first Voice of the Gods, period, in a very, very long time.

Sample #2:
Moonlight, in a familiar room, falling so white upon the carpet, and showing all its figures so distinctly, . . . is a medium . . . most suitable . . . to get acquainted with . . . [e]llusive guests . . .
THE SCARLET LETTER, Nathaniel Hawthorne.
. . . [from] beyond the fields we know.
THE KING OF ELFLAND’S DAUGHTER, Lord Dunsany.
It was a crisp, naked October evening and just as they had done many times before, the moon’s autumnal beams fell upon the tree-lined roads, lanes, and cul-de-sacs of Columbia. Under that enchanted influence, the city’s character was reshaped, its personality remolded. That which was dead in the light of day rose to life under the waxen moon’s silvery ambience.
And so it was, as I lay in my bed, deep in the neighborhood of Clary’s Forest, that the moon peered over the trees and into my room. Its light grabbed the rocker before the window, and threw an elongated and twisted shadow of it across the carpeted floor. The shadow was rumpled and craggy from the pile of clothing on the rocker’s seat. The laundry I had dumped onto the chair earlier that evening shrugged its small shoulders, shook its long, blonde locks of hair, shifted its weight as it sought some semblance of comfort. It stretched its slender legs out before it and the chair began to rock, slow and steady.
The figure began to hum a familiar tune, and soon the humming turned into singing:
“Come with me, and you and I / away, away, away we’ll fly / out upon the moonbeams' glow / and thereupon our hearts doth go / a-wandering.
“Come with me, and you and I / away, away, away we’ll fly / anon to wander to and fro / out far beyond the fields we know / a-wandering.”
The figure hummed again, then, turning to face me, it smiled.
“You sang that the night you left,” I said. “I hate that song.”

The I Have To Shoot What?! Challenge for Week 32: Incomplete
I had no idea what to do for the theme this week, even though I chose the theme. Well, technically, my husband chose it and I just agreed... I've always gotten a kick out of this door on the bottom floor of an apartment building...

I present to you... a classic portrait of an unwilling subject. He refused to wear a shirt and worked for chocolate. He decided he knew how to model and would look "strong" in this series. Since everyone else that volunteered for a headshot flaked, this is the best I can do for the week's theme.

Week #32
Taken August 11, 2013
Title: Flight
Notes: Well sadly we had the best subject for this theme last Sunday when we got to visit the Rhinebeck Aerodrome in NY for a WWI style airshow. Alas the dates would not align in our favor. However, with a bit of the plane bug still in our systems, we headed down to the North East Philadelphia Airport with our fellow photographer and pilot, Tom. We spent the early afternoon watching small planes take off and land at a couple locations around the airport. The shot above was taken as this little plane ( a 1992 American Champion) came in for a landing on this beautiful Sunday afternoon.

This is the look Gracie gave me after yawning in a very loud and theatrical way. She had a dull day today with no hike or even any interesting scents in the backyard. But we did go on short hikes 3 out of the previous 5 days, so I don't think she can report us to animal welfare just yet.
Week 32/52, 2012
I walk by this restaurant every day and I really like the the bright colours against the black wall as well as the textures. I have been meaning to stop and photograph it for a while, and I finally got around to it. I like the lighting in the morning because it's coming in through the trees creating interesting shadows.

Theme: Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
for 7DoS: I spent the afternoon in the eye hospital with Hub and was instantly reminded of the desire for my loved ones to be healthy.
I have never liked taking pills and fortunately, I am generally in good health, so don't have an extensive medicine stock - not sure what I bought the aspirin for (possibly Junior insisting I should have something in the house?) but I've just noticed they are already out of date. The teeny little pills in the foreground are Hub's vitamin D - at this time of the year he barely sees the sun - and the others, though not very appealing looking (hence the choice of focus) are Echinacea - I tend to use these if I have a cold.
I totally forgot to do a photo yesterday for P52! It was a busy day though. I did a quick session for a friend of the family who is launching his website for massage therapy and wanted some photos, so that was fun. I’ll get to share a few of those soon. Then I took the kids (along with Erica, Anna’s caregiver) to Jumpoline again… but Anna didn’t have as much fun as the first time. I didn’t want to bounce again because of my knee so I thought having Erica there would be good for Anna. I think Anna was anticipating more kids and was worried about getting bumped into, so she was on guard the whole time. Later, we also took the kids out to dinner and they were so happy and hyper! They made straw wrapper mustaches and ate snow cones and we all shared lots of laughter. Here is a photo of Jenny at the restaurant… I’m sure she will appreciate that I’m sharing this one and not the straw wrapper mustache one. ;)
