Arrived late at the wedding. The newly-weds were taking photos in the gardens of the club. As the saying goes,"The best camera is the camera you have on you". I had my cellphone with no burst mode, so, I took a video of the unfolding scene, trying to include the onlooker, to choose an image afterwards.
To help me in my post-processing, I chose the moment when a flash lit the shrubs to highlight the bride's white gown from back.
Processing was in Lightroom, consisting of cropping and global adjustments and some local:
1. To subdue the color of the shirt of the front photographer using the Brush tool on it and adjusting the exposure and HSL
2. Highlighting the couple with a radial gradient, increasing the exposure very slightly and adding a little more definition.
3. Using the radial gradient around the couple again to reduce the exposure very slightly on the rest of the image, effectively making a selective vignette.
4. Very slight additional vignette around the edges of the image.
Week 4 of 17.
Topic: Urban
for #laurazalenga17weeks
.
Sometimes all you need is finding a unique tree and try to become part of it.
.
Everyone who knows me knows how much trees fascinate me, it seemed only logical to try to mimic one. Being one of those bugs that hides from enemies by looking like being part of a tree. It felt right.
.
The before/after of this, and the next topic for the 17weeks-project is up in my facebook-group: (Self)portraits with Laura Zalenga
Week#71 It took me all morning to do this. Figuring it out in Elements wasn't easy ...for ME! I finally got something that I liked. I wanted to make the plane smaller but couldn't do it easily...It actually was a fun challenge.
It has been a tough week. On Thursday morning, we got up as normal at 6 am. 2 hours later, Myles, (52 weeker in 2010 and 2015) was unable to walk, completely unsteady on his feet. We spent the last 4 days in the vet hospital.
Unbelievably, he came down with vestibular disease, the same thing that took our dear Lexi in January. He went from pretty much uncontrolled movement with rolling body behavior from the vertigo, to being able to return home today. The head tilt is a result as is the wobbly legs, high stepping as he walks and the occasional slip to the floor, only time will tell how much he gets back.
it is quite unlikely for 2 dogs to get this in the same house so quickly, so we have had our water tested ~negative, Myles was tested for lead which came back negative and we are waiting on a full toxicology panel on him to come back.
We moved here 11/11 with 4 healthy dogs and now we have 2.5 healthy dogs. it is very disconcerting. Your positive thoughts are greatly appreciated. We and the Drs are baffled. so I end as I started. Its been a tough week.
Sometimes I have the problem of stabbing myself in the back. I can seriously be my own worst enemy.
Didn't come out quite as well as I would have liked, but I'm seriously tired and have to post my shot today. I need to stop waiting until the last day :-)
Strobist information. I have to admit, I was tired and I was going to go the easy way with on camera flash pointed up at the corner. Unfortunately for me, my bathroom is way too small(see the doorway on the lower right corner), so I was forced to move the camera out in the hallways. I placed a Nikon SB-28 on a foot stand in the near right corner facing up and towards the wall to give even directional light that somewhat resembels natural bathroom light. I trigged with the cheapie ebay wireless system. It was two shots with the same lighting, and I extracted myself from the second and repositioned the layer on the first image for effect.
ROADTRIP!
This week we went on a trip to Montana.
I had a shot planned but didn't make it to the place i wanted.
This is a photo from a stop on our drive out there!
Theme of The Week - Tilt Shift
Today started out with the temperature around 100F, then 70+ mph winds with a torrential thunderstorm. This branch tore a chunk of siding off my house and bent the header pipe to the ground. Luckily, there was enough extra power line wire that I did not loose power. However I was on hold with the electric company for an hour and a half to report the downed line. Approximately 120,000 houses are without power in the St. Louis area.
I spied this little beauty in the supermarket carpark yesterday. It was receiving a great deal of interest from the public. I love the little fan on the front window.

Spent my Saturday evening at Reculver Towers near Herne Bay in Kent. Good conditions for star trails despite there being a 3/4 moon.
This image is compiled from 86 shots of 30s @ F4 at ISO 400. Processed through the excellent StarStaX with slight adjustments in PS.
It's the weekend!! You have no idea how excited I am about that.
Don't forget to go vote for my picture! It's in my photostream here, with instructions in the description. It would mean so much to me if you would vote for it, and you can vote every 12 hours!
I was tagged again! This time I'm tagging new contacts. So, nice to meet you! :)
1) I had the idea for this picture last night while I was trying to sleep. I'm really glad I remembered it.
2) My cat is trying to lay on the keyboard right now...
3) You should check out my website!
4) I can't wait until I get to try on wedding dresses someday.
5) I'm hungry.
6) Unsolved Mysteries is on. I loved this show when I was younger.
7) I have more summer clothes than winter clothes. Not a few more, WAY more.
8) My favorite show is Gossip Girl. This break in the season is killing me, but it starts back next week! Until then, I'm re-watching season 2. :)
9) I always make people riding in my car put on their seatbelt. Not because I'm bossy, I just feel very strongly about it, and there is definitely a reason for that.
10) I can't wait to be finished with college.
7DOS, Week #47 - A Week With … my coffee mug, Minimal Sunday (not a big fan of minimalism as I tend to miss the point, but thought I'd give it a go this week in an effort to get back into the swing of things photographic).
WEEK 1 - Selfie - hate getting my picture taken at the best of times so decided to use my favourite models as a backdrop.
Metroline West TE1727 (SN09 CEX) on Route E3, Turnham Green Church. 31st May for the handover to London United :)
Week 9/52
So, yesterday I had so much fun shooting this picture. I got this beautiful red cape from my boyfriend a few years ago and I absolutely love it! Hope you like this picture.

Sorry for another photo from the shoebox. Did not have a chance to go out hunting for an adequate shot for the subject.
Photo taken on my IPhone during my trip to İstanbul a couple of years ago. This lady makes a living collecting paper and cardboard for the recycling firms. Since she has to move around with her handcart in the crazy İstanbul traffic, her choice of attire is like a traffic signal.
As pants, she is wearing what we call a ~shalvar~, baggy pants, normally black, not hers, worn by villagers, men and women alike. So, she must have recently moved to Istanbul for a better life. Note also that her shoes are the same color as her sweater. Lovely signs of her feminine taste and aspirations.
Processed mainly in LR, using basically two tools.
- The Radial Gradient around her to lighten her a bit Another Radial Gradient around her, inverted, to desaturate all colors in the image, except for her.
- And the Brush tool for local adjustments of mainly exposure and natural looking vignetting.

[ 41 / 52 Weeks - 08 - 14 october. ]
This week subject: Geometry (in my way).
