love how slaine enjoys watching the world go by from our bedroom window :)

I thought: What better place to find something appropriate for Opulent than the #1 super zip in the country? (See this article on super zips: online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052970204301404577....) So I drove around Kenilworth, Illinois to see what house qualified. I think I've driven around these streets too much by now to have a good grasp of the average American home given how long it took me to decide that what was in front of me was indeed opulent. It would have been easier in daylight. I'm not super happy with this selection, but having watched it built from ground up over the past couple of years, I decided it qualified. Since it doesn't have columns and such, the opulence may not be obvious, but it's huge. (It has a completely separate three-car garage to the left.)

Boring, boring week. I can't even remember what I did this week. Except that I started drawing again. The drawing looks horrible in this photo because of the flash.. I might scan some drawings and put them online.

Dogwood 52 Week Photo Challenge

Was going through a drawer looking for something else and came across this. I believe this may have been my first "smart phone" after my flip phone. When daughter was younger, she used to go around with our old phones pretending to talk on them.

Week 13: 26 Mar - 1 April

First pair of Converse All Star shoes I've owned. It's been really great having flat shoes that I can wear almost everywhere. Especially with ankle healing but still tender and my habit of wearing jeans most days of the week.

Cheeky feet-on-seat shot while on the train going home from one event or another. The laces are too long for my liking so I wrap them around my ankles before tying

WHITBY FOLK WEEK 16th-24th AUGUST 2014

Week 10/52

Theme: Stack It

2013 Ellenburg Project 52

I had a newborn scheduled for Thursday and I had lots of ideas about things I could stack with the baby. Baby on a stack of books, towels, suitcases, etc... Unfortunately, school was cancelled and therefore my shoot was also cancelled. So I guess I'll have to settle for a stack of suitcases without a baby. (Just a side note, I would never stack a baby this high, my plan was to just use the two big blue suitcases.) Thanks to my mom for giving my all her old suitcases, I love them. My husband on the other hand is less than thrilled with them, hehehe.

Didn't follow this week's theme unfortunately. But check out Mike Trout sliding into home plate at the Angels vs. Tigers game on Sunday. Angels won 4-3 :)

Week 4 of Weekly 2024 Alphabet Challenge.

This one was a tough one for me this week, I try to live as eco friendly life as possible, with very little single use plastic, but it didn't take me too long to find the "neccesary" gloves from my hair dying kit.

Shirt from Washington DC with a cute dart in it at the midline, so I can wear it postpartum to nurse because the buttons open beyond the boobs. Heh heh.

Orienatation week is a special week at the start of the year for first year College residents. Read more about O-Week on our website Photographs by resident Justin Vague.

In war people die on all sides. Quite often they are young people.

Close to where I live is the German War Cemetery in Glencree. Dedicated on July 9 1961, the graveyard is located close to the Glencree Centre for Reconciliation and Peace. 134 persons are buried here including Luftwaffe & Kriegsmarine. Many are known, some are unknown. These were in 59 Graves across 15 counties of Ireland until being moved to Glencree. Most of the graves belong to flyers of the second world war and were washed up on our shores. Included also are the victims of the Arandora Star, German civilian detainees sunk by U-Boat in 1940 off Tory Island.

I first visited this cemetery less than a week ago. It is a place of great beauty and tranquility. I visited again today to take this photograph. The location has beautiful shades of green and brown but the greyscale image somehow seems very appropriate.

In war people die on all sides. It is good that we remember them.

Week #31 - Wildlife - Call of the loon. Knowing I was going north on the week-end, I hoped that the wildlife just north of Bancroft, Ontario would be obliging for the theme this week. This loon was particularly helpful as he took interest in me as I paddled by in the canoe.

I like to sit in the dark...

Theme Of The Week - Things I Love

Better get us a double size next time.

Theme = Extreme Detail.

I love the textures of the feathers against the wattles and comb.

Name: Eric Cockrell

Age: 23

Neighborhood: Ravenna/U-District

Vegan Circa: 2005

Why I Find Him Interesting: So, I am eternally impressed by people who don't do things half-assed. Eric doesn't just cook at home, he creates dishes where he works. He doesn't just ride his bike around, he races his bike on a team. He doesn't' just listen to music, but joins a vegan band. I think there is a name for this? Oh yeah. Radness!

Why Vegan: "It's obvious that we don't need meat and dairy to survive, and, to me, there's no reason to exploit the life of another animal simply because 'it tastes good'. - Eric "Nothing will benefit human health and chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet." -Albert Einstein

Spends Time:

-As a prep cook at Ocho in Ballard - aspiring to be a vegan chef (check out his Veg Chorizo - it is AMAZING)

-Cycling (often around Seward Park where this photo was taken)

-Racing road bikes (for Team Becher+) - aspiring pro cyclist.

-When he makes time, drawing and painting.

-Going to shows. He used to be in a vegan hardcore band in Sacramento, CA called No Gods No Dairy (Best band name EVAH)

-Collecting tattoos

-Finding the best coffee in town.

-Hanging out with his cats, Lucifer and RZA

Eric Suggests: Plum Bistro; farmers markets; experimenting and cooking at home; if you are looking for place to start with veganism try Veg Web; and if you are into cycling, check out the Washington State Bicycle Racing Association and Cycling News.

If you see Eric on the street: talk to him about pretty places to ride, how to cook, where to find bomb coffee, what his new beer/liquor recommendation is. But he warns that he might be kinda boring (yeah right!).

Check out Eric's blog: www.ericgantbastard.tumblr.com (recently moved from Tarpit Herbivore) and follow him on Twitter @ericgantbastard.

Theme Of The Week - "Post it"

Krishna the killer. So far, this week I've received five gifts. He's busy keeping the rodents at bay as the shagbark hickory nuts bombard my house and leave quite a meal for the rodent population. Krishna loves to curl up on my lap morning and night while I edit my photos (as a matter of fact, he's on my lap now.)

It was a toss-up as I love both of my cats and they are both adorable and loving. Here's the link to Ganesha lounging in the morning sunshine doing his daily ritual.

On another note, I have some catching up to do! I've missed my first two weekly challenges of the year. Will be posting "red" and "shapes" in the near future. Sorry I haven't had the time to give feedback lately either.

This was a friends daughter chasing bubbles during an event at our VBS. What says "summer" more than kids playing outdoors in the sun? Short of beach shots, that is. I don't think we're making it to the shore in time for this weeks theme so this will have to do.

Week 9: Landscape

Our go to after easter treats. The kids have soooooo much left over chocolate we had to melt it some of it down to make rice crispie cakes. They are delicious! Crunchy cereal and smooth sweet chocolate...

Cooper: Week 29/52 -

*Hit L to make it big*

This picture is nothing fancy, no special setups. Just a first - Cooper's first Halloween parade at daycare. He has his superman costume on but his bib and sweats are covering it up. He had no clue but it was cute. All the teacher's bring the infant room kids out in the cribs and stroll them through the parking lot. Then the bigger kids come out and walk through the line of parents.

I felt really old there with my camera taking pictures of my kid in his first parade! Haha

Objective: (Jeremy speak)

Again, nothing special here. I had to quickly lean into his crib to get a picture of him. I called out his name and he looked up. I was lucky to have the sun being blocked and giving me nice even light.
