Thirty - Week Number Project - 30-DVSC01627a

plus some diagonals thrown in for free...

An archive photo was used this week.

week thirteen of 52 (October 16-22, 2017)

I have photos of seven different birds' nests, from the nine years I tried to make sure they made it. Some are just sticks (House Wrens will throw sticks in three boxes and the female will chose the one she wants: after a one week wait, I would clean out the boxes that weren't to her liking). Anyway, I didn't want to present them all but I did want to give you one with chicks on their way. It's a good way to welcome in the new year.

I was responsible for 34 or 35 boxes over a 4 mile route. Why 34 or 35? Because I misnumbered one of them (33A) and could never find it again until the next year. I decided to climb the tallest hill: unfortunately, I found it as well as the mating grounds of Wild Turkeys and, one day, under an old log, a Western Diamondback nest. But I had to look after my kids. Perhaps the biggest surprise was on a circuit that no one seems to be paying much attention to: there were 14 Wood Duck chicks ready to make their 25 foot leap into the pond, just as mama planned.

This necklace is connected to many memories when I lived in Stockholm for half a year and my first 365.

Alyssa was sitting at the table doing her homework and I look to where she had kicked off her shoes and it hit me how much she has changed. Wasn't it just yesterday she was toddling around in baby shoes? Its amazing how fast changes happen in life especially when it comes to our children. As parents we really must soak it all in while we can and try our hardest not to blink!

I wasn't sure which photo I should use for 52 weeks. So I put one outtake into the comments.

Monotonous landscape? Not really! This power pole whispered unmistakable: " Take a picture of me for the weekly theme!"

17/52 - pretend it's summer

Well this week was my first week officially out of school and it feels good for now lol I hear it gets boring after but Ill try to make something out of it. Any who yesterday was my one of my best buddy's wedding and he let me shot it so I have some work cut out for me. But on Thursday after watching some videos from John and ExtraMedium I decided to try it out with this picture.

some of the steps that I did in between were inspired by CaliforniaCPA and adding of the clouds and minor stuff too were inspired by ExtraMedium . I would admit that I did cheat with the HDR that I created the over exposed and underexposed one but it still looks pretty sick I think :P

This is the same place where the wedding took place I wanted to shot it again but on Friday it had the wedding decorations so I couldn't take it again I would have waited for there not to be a shadow on the house and no glaring either but oh well I still like it from what I had to what i created

Oh mom made up for being so busy all weekend....Weather was perfect and we played ball until my tongue was nearly dragging on the ground.

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.

Maracas made from toilet paper tubes. I love them!

Week End

Another image from last Wednesday's amazing sunset. This was taken well after the sun sank below the horizon way to left fame. The sky above the Olympics suddenly light up with this orange glow reaching way north. Bonus colors in that part of the sky reminiscent of what's normally seen in July or early August.

Have a fantastic weekend! Go Seahawks!

I finally managed to put my four seasons photo together. You can see the back of my house during the seasons. No snow in winter though.

I just noticed I had some mistakes in the numbers of weeks, but now it seems to be ok.

I had my written french exam today, for the last past week I didnt have time to take any pictures, my Harry Potter project is late too. I have oral exam on thursday, so maybe tomorrow or by the end of the week I'll catch up with Harry!!! For now, enjoy!

Also first day shooting with my new Nikon d610. Loved it!

Still life with Penne Rigate pasta.

Theme Of The Week - Panorama

Cold, damp, windy...I guess the theme was appropriate for this week. I couldn't decide which umbrella to use. (I have three) so I went with the playful Hello Kitty. To be honest, it had stopped raining by the time I got a chance to go outside, so I'm glad I found this spot where the railings were still wet. I only took a handful of shots for this, because my fingers started to get numb. This polar vortex bullcrap can suck it.

n. the crushing sense that the future is arriving ahead of schedule, that all those years with fanciful names like “2013” are bursting from their hypothetical cages into the arena of the present, furiously bucking the grip of your expectations while you lean and slip in your saddle, one hand reaching for reins, the other waving up high like a schoolkid who finally knows the answer to the question.

check out my tumblr for outtakes.

alice and i were on a mini-vacation this past weekend in the appalachian mountains of western maryland. i was a bit worried we wouldn't get to go, after the discovery of the bone at the end of last week... but since alice was feeling so well, we went ahead and took the trip and i am so happy that we did! it was a fantastic time!! we went hiking at antietam national battlefield on the way out, to break up the six hour drive.

sunday morning, we competed in the dockdogs competition at 10:00 (alice jumped 17 feet 9 inches... a new personal best!) and then we went hiking in the potomac-garrett state forest where dogs are allowed to be off leash. yayyy!!! it was a beautiful, peaceful place and we were once again the sole users on the trail.

monday morning we did dockdogs again and alice did 15 feet and some inches on both jumps, which meant we were still in line for the finals! we stayed around, and sure enough we made it in as the fourth place team. her two jumps in finals were in the 16 foot range, not good enough to win but we did get seventh place, a lovely rosette, and a bag of goodies. i was so proud of my little mutt dog... of the 24 dogs who competed in finals, she was by far the smallest and one of only two mixed breeds. the other 22 dogs were all labrador retrievers! wait, maybe one was a golden retriever... can't remember. anyway, they had a very nice awards ceremony, and then we were back on the road for the long journey home, over the mountains and across the bay.

i took this photo during the break before finals, when we had some time to kill. i had been sneaking alice over to this grassy area all weekend to play ball or just have some time to relax outside, and kept admiring these cute little daisies growing there. i haven't made a daisy chain in years, but it was just as easy and fun as ever!! while everyone else was back at home sweating in the 90+ degree heat and humidity, alice and i were enjoying the comfort of the cool mountain air. i hope to go back again someday!

oh, as for the bone... we repeated the xrays today and see no evidence of it! i honestly have no idea where it went, as i was picking up after her on all potty breaks this weekend and checking for bone. i am guessing it was digested or broken down into smaller pieces and moved through undetected. hopefully i have learned a lesson from this, i have been watching her more closely when she is outside.
