Have you ever wanted to just hide from everything?

Yea, that's me today.

I'm really happy when I have some wool on my needles and a book nearby.

Wanted to get some bird pictures for week 2, but all the birds were gone when I went to the spot due to the construction activity. I got some (wild) flowers that were lit by the setting sun.

Reflections of Seoul.

The Seoul Design Week, the country’s largest design festival, ran from September 22nd to October 2nd at the fabulous Dongdaemun Design Plaza. The annual event was held under the theme Smart City, Smart Design, Smart Life, with programs including; The Seoul Smart Mobility International Conference and Exhibition, Universal Design Seoul Exhibition, Seoul Crafts Fair and Crafts Free Market and AGI (Alliance Graphique Internationale) SEOUL 2016. AGI, a collective of the world’s top graphic designers, also hosted the AGI Special Project, with more than 200 works of art created with the theme, I love Seoul, and displayed in the DDP’s Green Showroom during the design week.

Love his youthful looks

Not the best of weeks, lots of coughing and he started coughing up blood yesterday, not much but enough to worry :( But moments like this and he's still chasing Jäger around so he can't be too bad! Just enjoying every day

Ok. Serious catch up time - 3 weeks behind.

PS 52ers .... Bear in mind that I like to be a bit controversial when you view this photo. ;-) All is not what is seems ;-))

Life is so much easier when your two year old isn’t afraid to poop. About a week before I left for a trip to Florida, Olive began going potty like it was no big deal. We did enact a new strategy but honestly, I think she was just ready. From that day on, there has been no more (knock furiously on wood) drama.

She is back to her happy, mostly carefree self and it is so good to have my girl back. She still chews her fingernails but that’s not a battle I’m going to pick. For the time being, I’m going to let her use that as a coping mechanism and accept it as part of her personality.

She seems to have bounced back from this particularly traumatizing time much easier than I have. Watching her struggle and fight against her body triggered an anxiety in me that hasn’t been present since before she was conceived. I’m sad to be fighting this old battle again but I’m much more equipped than when I was younger.

But back to my original point. A few days after I returned from my business trip, the four of us headed to my parents house for Memorial Day/ my birthday and it was such a better trip than Easter. Potty troubles were behind us and everyone was able to enjoy themselves without a cloud hanging over their head.

Olive and my mom bravely swam in their still chilly pool nearly every day. Even though Olive’s lips were blue, she never wanted to get out and could have spent every second of her trip in the water. Olive plays so independently at my mom’s house and there were two, loving and doting grandparents who wanted to spend time with her, so I read 1.5 books and felt so revived.

It was a classmate’s birthday shortly before her last day of school and ever since Olive has been very into birthdays. She enjoyed celebrating my birthday, singing the birthday song to me and of course eating “happy birthday cake.” She’s already anticipating Gaigai’s birthday in August.

After seeing how much she loved wearing a life jacket in the wave pool at Great Wolf Lodge (she’s still asking to go back), we decided to bring her life jacket with us to the beach. She refused to take it off and happily ran in the water and went way out into the waves with Ryan. The water was still a bit chilly so she found a shallow tide pool and played in that for a long time.

Last year I remember thinking that it would be a long time before I read a book on the beach again but this year I was able to. Olive played in front of us in the tide pool or beside us making a sand castle and was happy to be alone in her pursuits. She ran from us by the water up to my dad in the soft sand and had a great time looking for shells in the space between.

It seems like a small thing, but watching her run on the beach in a bathing suit with no diaper underneath struck me as so bittersweet. She’s such a big girl. Although she will tell you she’s tiny. While in Florida, Ryan sent me a video of her explaining, “I tiny. I bigger, I drink coffee, that’s right? I tiny so I drink apple juice.”

Hugging the pillow, surrounded by white sheets, the light never looked so disturbing and as every morning, I saw blur in my awakening.

A blast of thoughts seemed to invade my mind within two seconds, then I started to remember things that never happened, things that I wish that had happened. Why sometimes dreams are so confusing? They make no sense, but they couldnt be more beautiful, but how am I expected to smile at a new day, when the night gave me artificial and wonderful moments?

I'd lie if I said that I wasn't happy for a moment, that I didn't grin when I thought you were with me.

But as the dream burst into my mind, the reality punched me in the heart.

EP Project Week 28/52 ~ "Pair"

Back home today from an amazing vacation. Weddings, Family Reunions, Photoshoots galore and just good ole family fun.

This is a shot of one of my very favorite bridges in Texas. The Fred Hartman Bridge. I love the to pair of peaks that always looks to me like a Big M. When my nieces and nephew were little they used to call it the McDonald's Bridge. LOL

On the trip back from Texas yesterday we stopped by the Ellenburg Photography (FABULOUS) Studio and Don and I got to FINALLY meet Daphne in person. We had such an awesome time. See, I am turning the Big Six-O next month and I wanted to have some photos done to commemorate the event. Daphne sure did make me feel fabulous and glamorous. Thank you again Daphne for the amazing experience. Your studio is absolutely perfect and I know you will have many years of continued success. (hugs)

Wishing all a very Happy and Fun Weekend

Late again this week, sorry. No Internet during the day the past two days at my babysitting gig. Damn, did that suck.

I seem to be over the hump now. Still want to smoke, but it isn't this "I need to smoke or I will fucking kill someone" urge so much. LOL.

The antibiotics I got from my dad seem to have really made a difference in my illness, so I might just be on a high from finally feeling a little better after over a week of sick.

But I think it is getting easier. Pete thinks so too. We don't feel the need to eat constantly anymore, either, but we do enjoy it. :D

10/52: Sunday at Toyohira River

June 3 - June 9

Finally it is getting warmer in Sapporo.

It was a beautiful day today, so my wife and I went to Toyohira river just behind our apartment.

It is so nice to have nature close to the house even we are living right in the middle of the city.

My wife was fishing, I was sitting down watching her. We had a big night last night, and I was too tired to do anything, but thanks to my wife, it was great to be outside, sitting under the sun.

Come on Summer!! We are waiting for you!!!!

I hope you had a wonderful week!!

The weather this past week (actually the past couple of weeks) has been absolutely gorgeous. We have been taking advantage and spending as much time outside as possible. Josie was so kind as to stop and pose for me for just a few seconds.

p.s. If anyone has any suggestions on how to make her eyes stand out a little more - I am all ears! When the sun hits just right it will brighten up her eyes, but the sun isn't always shining just right.

Happy Halloween!!! We have had a busy week and an even busier weekend. As event coordinators for the local rescue my husband and I have to attend every event. Sita is marvelous with babies, small children, adults, and older folks. Since she is a gentle soul who loves everyone she gets to come to these events. I caught this funny shot of her asking to come out of the x-pen and mingle. She worked very hard and even wore her Halloween costume and the donation dog vest.

Looking at these two girls makes me reflect on my own childhood and the special friendships that were formed. One of those friendships is with this sweet girls momma. We weren't friends from the day that they we were born, but she is part of some of my very favorite memories of the last 20 years. I hope that these girls experience the same carefree, true friendship that is full of lots of giggles and inside jokes just like their momma's. So thankful that I have an opportunity to relive this slice of pure innocence all over again through the eyes of two of my favorite girls.

This is Þórunn M. Lárusdóttir, 49 years old and lives in Reykjavik. She has been married almost 30 years, has three children and two grandcildren and works for the Foreign Ministry doing translations, a recent career change for her as she had been working as a nurse for more than 20 years. She is my mother.

I wanted to portray my mother and father doing something that they do in their free time, my father playing the guitar and my mother in her outdoor attire. They love to go out wandering all over the country and even go abroad every year to hike up some foreign mountains, like we don´t have enough of them right here in Iceland, hehe :)

This shot is actually just a photo I took to meter the scene by histogram and she wasn´t posing, it turned out to be my favore from this shoot. Went out late to take advantage of the soft light that the Icelandic summer evenings give and only used ambient lighting for this, nothing else. This is shot by the roots of the mountain Esja.
