10/52: Sunday at Toyohira River

June 3 - June 9

Finally it is getting warmer in Sapporo.

It was a beautiful day today, so my wife and I went to Toyohira river just behind our apartment.

It is so nice to have nature close to the house even we are living right in the middle of the city.

My wife was fishing, I was sitting down watching her. We had a big night last night, and I was too tired to do anything, but thanks to my wife, it was great to be outside, sitting under the sun.

Come on Summer!! We are waiting for you!!!!

I hope you had a wonderful week!!

As you can see... no baby yet...

What a week! It really has been crazy. So I went for my ECV (baby turning) on Friday, and all I can say is OUCH! Well, I can say more (and of course I will)! We got there at 8 in the morning, felt strange being there so early, the sun wasn't even up properly yet :s Anyway, as soon as we got to the delivery sweet we were told that they were under staffed and we might not be seen, to go sit in the (dull and dank) mothers room, if we're not seen within two hours to come down and tell someone, GREAT! In fact we only sat in there for about twenty minutes when the sweetest midwife came and rescued us from that manky room. She showed me to a bed and hooked me up to all sorts of monitors. After that we still had to wait ages for the consultant to come see us (can you believe this is the short version of the story).

When he did come, he brought his troops with him, seriously! He brought, himself (obviously) his assistant, a trainee consultant, another doc (not sure what she was a doctor in) AND a trainee midwife. The next part was really horrid :'( The consultant and his assistant lowered my bed, stood over me and manipulated my tummy and Apple Pip into positions that just didn't feel natural to either of us and the pain!!! Woh! If you walked past the room you would've thought I was in labour, so much pressure put on us. And I hear you ask how I knew Apple Pip didn't like it, well she kept slipping out of their grip and placing herself snuggly in her normal position.

SO.... I've now been booked in for a c-section on the 16th :) At least we know when we'll meet our baby girl now, and we are so ready for her let me tell you!

The next day Mum and Julie asked me round for tea.. Well, they were actually throwing me a suprise baby shower! Now baby showers aren't a typical English thing, but my aunty in America really wanted me to have one, so between her, Julie, my mum and my chums they through an amazing shower for me! I was totally overwhelmed by all (well most) of all the lovely woman in my life doing this for me and the presents... WOW!! Apple Pip, you are one spoilt little lady! :) I can't wait to see her play with/wear/use etc all the gorgeous things everyone got her!

THEN.... my mum had an op on her eye on Monday :( scary, but she did great and is healing really well. It's a long story why she had to have the op, but let me just say it's v important coz otherwise she'll end up totally blind. So one eye done, one to go!

Yeah, other then that I've been doing more washing (of AP's clothes and bedding of course), not sleeping, seeing friends for the last time before becoming a mamma, oh I forgot, also saw my friends baby on Tuesday for the first time and he is GORGEOUS!!!!! Ten days old and perfect! They're both doing well and starting to settle into life together :)

What a rant! sorry all! Well, only 12 days to go (if not sooner), therefore one more offical weekly shot and one that I'll do before going in to meet my baby girl!

Happy Thursday everyone!

Next week: "Brown"

The weather this past week (actually the past couple of weeks) has been absolutely gorgeous. We have been taking advantage and spending as much time outside as possible. Josie was so kind as to stop and pose for me for just a few seconds.

p.s. If anyone has any suggestions on how to make her eyes stand out a little more - I am all ears! When the sun hits just right it will brighten up her eyes, but the sun isn't always shining just right.

Happy Halloween!!! We have had a busy week and an even busier weekend. As event coordinators for the local rescue my husband and I have to attend every event. Sita is marvelous with babies, small children, adults, and older folks. Since she is a gentle soul who loves everyone she gets to come to these events. I caught this funny shot of her asking to come out of the x-pen and mingle. She worked very hard and even wore her Halloween costume and the donation dog vest.

This is Þórunn M. Lárusdóttir, 49 years old and lives in Reykjavik. She has been married almost 30 years, has three children and two grandcildren and works for the Foreign Ministry doing translations, a recent career change for her as she had been working as a nurse for more than 20 years. She is my mother.

I wanted to portray my mother and father doing something that they do in their free time, my father playing the guitar and my mother in her outdoor attire. They love to go out wandering all over the country and even go abroad every year to hike up some foreign mountains, like we don´t have enough of them right here in Iceland, hehe :)

This shot is actually just a photo I took to meter the scene by histogram and she wasn´t posing, it turned out to be my favore from this shoot. Went out late to take advantage of the soft light that the Icelandic summer evenings give and only used ambient lighting for this, nothing else. This is shot by the roots of the mountain Esja.

educated the security guard on colour, taught him what maroon was :)

started thinking about eyes, and why some people have big eyes, do we all have the same sized eyeballs?! or do we just have different sized eyelids?!

also think its weird how other people see me more than me and if i was a dude and didnt have to do my make up, id probably never look in a mirror.... weird....

What is YOUR favourite from this Week?

26/52: Toyohira River at night

September 23 - September 29

Yes, it was not easy to keep my energy up for this project.

However I knew I was going to have sometime on the weekend, so I was ok not taking photos for the project during the week.

I was hoping to take some night sky photos, but the weather was not looking good, so I decided to go for a walk like I used to do almost everyday for my 366 project.

I have just got a new lens, Nikkor 85mm f/1.8 and wanted to try using it, so I put that lens on and grabbed my tripod and went outside.

It was nice to have no plans of the images I would have liked to shoot, and fun looking for something to shoot. I have not done that for a while.

Anyways I ended up walking to Toyohira River by my house and found those river rocks lit by city lights.

They must have travelled long way to get here and probably they will be far away when the river gets high next Spring.

I hope you had good week!

Storm week Mon 26th to Sunday 31st October 2020

week 14 - BLACK & WHITE LANDSCAPES

35 weeks pregnant with my firstborn child, a boy (due in mid-April).

week 13: 1000 STEPS FROM YOUR FRONT DOOR.

Hairy legs? Twin trunks of a New Zealand Cabbage tree/ti kouka (Cordyline australis).

Week #37 Muse - I have this fascination with old dilapidated buildings. For a number of years I have been driving through farmlands that have been earmarked for an airport. I have watched old barns and farmhouses deteriorate and get torn down. I have been trying to capture pics of some of these buildings before they completely disappear.

This week's theme was "paparazzi".

A huge thank you to my husband, Brian, for taking my camera from me when Cari asked to take my photo and snapping this. I am not generally one who enjoys having their photo taken, particularly because I am extremely self-conscious and very shy. I also never know how to act in front of the camera...I try being all cute and awesome like all of you other ladies who take amazing self-portraits, but I just end up looking like a nervous weirdo.

I liked how candid this looked and figured it was appropriate for the theme.

I can't believe I'm in a maternity shirt...I still have tons of room in it, but man, I'm looking extra bloated these days.

Almost eight weeks!

Theme of the week in the 52.5 of 2010 group is "friends", and I figure you have to be pretty good friends to share one Ipod and one set of headphones!

When I see students sharing headphones it reminds me of jumper cables, like one is jump-starting the other one's brain. Or maybe downloading data from one head to the other? Maybe I've watched too much science fiction?

Prompt by Patti Ballard, inspired by Degas

these were taken over a period of 4 days. They were changing quite rapidly. The back legs becoming more developed and active. The front legs were beginning to appear on some. It was strange seeing one or two with only three legs, sorry I couldn't get a clear photo of one. They also started to look much more like little frogs but still with a tail.

Theme Of The Week - Wood

My parents' neighbor accidentally set his deck on fire. He gave the non-burnt wood to my dad, and somehow it ended up over at my house…

28/52: Sunset Eruption

Gunung Agung, Bali

October 7 - October 13

I'm back! After a dislocated knee and broken toe, I had quite an adventure. Indonesia was beautiful and this shot was taken on the tiny tropical island of Gili Tarawangan on the uninhabited side of the island. The East side of Gili T boasts a variety of hotels, cuisine, and some local shopping.

It was a beautiful day, and out of the heaps of sunset pictures I took while traveling, this was the one that stood out (aside from the horse profile shot that you'll see in the outtakes). Hope you like it and can't wait to catch up on everyone's photos.

All my life my dad has called my mom his duck. Every time I see a duck, I think about my parents and how much they love each other even after 30 years of marriage. :) This was my favorite of the girls that I took pictures of this week.
