We had 70mph winds last night. Woke up this morning to find our heavy grill had rolled across the deck and blown over. Forgot to tie it down. We often get heavy winds up here. The news showed several big rigs and Rv's that blew over on I-25 near us in Southern Colorado

Being that this was mid-June, I wasn't exactly dressed for what I was facing with the camera. I had to grab the shot and get down off the ridge fast. Almost made it.

I visited a few of my favorite weathered barns and cribs today. This beauty still stands in Putnam County, Illinois.
This shot is for me. I love working in black and white and this subject seemed perfect for the task. This is the other side of the banged up old thresher we saw in the previous photo.
As I said, this will undoubtedly be restored in a way similar to my next photo in this series. But for the time being I will luxuriate in its marvellous weathering including (if you enlarge the shot) the handiwork of years of borers. Despite the fact it's seen better days, I still think it is beautiful.
Ten years ago today was not unlike the weather of today in 2017. There was some sun and scattered thunderstorms popping up in the afternoon of May 26, 2007, just like today over the Northland. The storms made for a good backdrop as BNSF sent a couple of coal empties west on the Brainerd Sub. powered by EMD DCs. I was living in McGregor in 2007 and caught these westbounds on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.
Here BNSF 8222 West heads under the Highway 210 bridge in McGregor as storms fire up 60+ miles away in northwest Wisconsin. Three SD75Ms and a green SD60M were the power for this coal empty charging west down the jointed rail of the Brainerd.
It's been quite a day. We woke up to a lovely deep purple and pink sky, then the sun came up and the sky turned orange and a short time ago a storm moved into the region from the west. Nothing came of the storm here, but they got a good rain down in Ithaca.
