Looking out to the ocean from Tandjung Sari as a storm looms. Tandjung Sari derived its name from a small temple on the beach known by that name – ‘Tandjung' meaning ‘cape' in Malay and ‘Sari', which in Sanskrit, in general, means ‘the essence'. It's literal translation being the stem of a flower.

This photograph is of a digitally manipulated section of a very weathered automobile left for rust. I found a small corner by the rear window that spoke of an uncanny beauty in the mundane.

I have been nursing a bad back injury that occurred years ago. Once you aggravate it is takes months of physical therapy and exercise to either go away or for it to go back to normal. The last few months of 2021 were painful. Its is the reason why you didn't get much photography from me in the end of 2021... With that being said.

I usually don't go quite with my photography during the off storm season. I'm a sucker for good light. Sunsets & Sunrises... when the light is right. Only reason I was out. Was to get my daughter back to College. Had dropped her off for and was heading back home.

I'm always with camera in hand in case of that special sky moment... I think this was one of them!

These original Fishtown buildings, dating from 1900-1930 are still in use today. Fishtown, in Leland, was the center of Lake Michigan fishing, beginning with wooden boats with sails, to today's hand-crafted steel, diesel-powered fishing tugs (see first comment below).

Scotland is in my bones. My ancestors were Lowlanders, but there’s something about the Highlands that just calls. I’d never been above Ullapool on the mainland before last week, so I arrived in Assynt with fresh eyes. I love that. Just seeing somewhere for the first time, taking it all in, feeling small and lost. My brother and I took my Dad up to Skye back in 2015. It was our last real trip together and there were points when I could have murdered both of them (who cares who drunk who’s Brandy, just buy some more). My brother and Dad went for a drive the last day and saw two Golden Eagles. It made the trip for my Dad who had always wanted to see one in real life. As I drove towards Lochinver on Thursday morning, I saw one myself. Incredible creatures. A good omen. The weather closed in at my destination, the sound of the deer rut and the sting of hail against my back. Suilven, characterful and iconic, flanked by Canisp with a fresh cap of snow. The light creeping through enough to add some atmosphere. A lucky moment. Monday would have been Dad’s 73rd birthday. I don’t know what much of anything means, but I know Scotland is in my bones, and I’ll keep driving North until the silence takes me too. Happy birthday, Pops. This one’s for you.

I might as well make the best of winter while we wait for spring. The warm week back in February created a nice little creek at Bluffer's Park in Scarborough. The sunset was quite strong and not much cloud cover was in the sky. I had the trees in the distance and the peak of the Bluffs to help get the shot I wanted. I didn't check the weather to plan the setting but I was in the neighbourhood so I decided to come here for a walk.

I love the landscape in the weather ball. Here is a small explanation of how it works:

This weather ball is based on Goethe's simple design for a barometer. The glass globe is attached to a sturdy base with a funnel tube on one side. The liquid in the tube rises and drops depending on the weather. When the weather is fair, the air pressure is high and it keeps liquid from rising very much in the glass tube. When the weather is stormy, the low air pressure can't push through the funnel as well, and so the liquid rises higher in the tube as the storm worsens. During severe weather, such as a tropical storm or tornado, the liquid in the weather ball would overflow! An instruction sheet is included to fill the globe properly and proof it so it is ready to show weather patterns.

The glass that this is made of is the same as a carafe for a drip coffee pot. It is quite delicate.

You can actually see this Mothership thunderstorm sucking up dirt and stones with its severe updrafts. This storm raced across Kansas at 60mph which made it very difficult to chase. The storm smashed up several towns as well as cutting off the power, it also produced Golfball size Hail and 85mph straight-line winds.

We managed to escape the worst but still took a lot of large hail. Some other chasers weren't as fortunate as they got caught up in it and had their vehicle windows smashed because of the stones and hail near Sharon Springs, Kansas.

If you fancy a photographic storm adventure like this then we are now taking bookings for the 2021 photography masterclass storm chase tour, which is Tour 5. see this link for more details.

MPI 9014 and crew have just delivered a coal train to the IPPX plant near Springville, UT. Looks like they just beat the weather too. It wouldn't be long before the clouds sent forth a deluge.

A cloudy day overlooking Albert Park Lake with the city of Melbourne as a back drop. The main feature is Australia 108 dominating the skyline. At 319 metres or 1039 feet it is the highest apartment tower in the country.

Again in the Parc the Sceaux today, a place that becomes favorite for us. Enjoying the quite unstable April weather

The plan was to go for a walk, maybe over to the old tree and back, but looking out the window just now I decided to stay indoors.
