Tiled water wall detail.
Water is intended to roll off the shelves creating a water fall effect landing in the pool below. This would create the constant sound of water in this garden within the park.
By using water sparingly, on only certain segments of the wall, he is able to create a bigger expression and impact on the park, as well as conserve water and power.
From a maintenance stand point the design of the ledge water falls would work very well. By keeping the water off the walls (for the most part) keeps the wall free of algae, scum and buildup that would build up over time, effecting the water performance.
I had to take this picture of the waterfall pond before Steph cut all the string algae. It looks pretty, but it raises the water level in the river so much we start to lose water out the sides.
This waterfeature was constructed with gulitine bassalt, CMU blocks and LOTS of mortar. it creates it's own unique look as the water cascades down the wall.

Last week I told you about the new pond we were adding to the garden. We didn’t want to invest in expensive koi, especially since these cheap feeder goldfish often do better. They will help control mosquitoes and provide some beauty in the pond. We’re hoping at least 3-5 of them survive (we bought 10), I’ll keep you updated. We got them home right as the sun was setting, always a good time to take some photos!
Flagstone patio, boulder benches, fire pit and boulder water feature created out of Missouri Sandstone.
This is the pond in the vegetable garden in the Botanical gardens, Fisheye again makes the water look like it is half way up the lens....cool.
