4.35pm Kitty Time = Earthquake time in Tokyo. Today, running a workshop, wearing bunny ears (yes, really), the world shook. No rabbithole, no tears, no mad hatter, just a well constructed building that swayed gently for a little too long for my liking. It was more Luther Vandross (bless his soul) than Van Halen (loud crumblies was the reference here, in response to the query).
We drove hundreds of miles on back country gravel roads to look for the thousands of wild horses kept on long term holding private ranches. We found at least 1000 horses. Some were close, but most were too far away to take any decent images. But, just to see SO many horses grazing, running and just being able to live their lives "free" instead of being slaughtered was an amazing experience!

After I took this photo, he followed me to my car (which was quite far away from the protest) filming me the whole way and then when I returned later he followed me around filming again. You'd think he'd be more concerned with the people actually protesting, not someone just taking photos.
I watched "Ghost" last night and this morning there was this patch of light along this forest path . . .
It's all so much easier with my new camera and I'm excited to get out and create something.

Dad gave this watch to me because I remember Uncle Jake. On the back of the watch in script are engraved in script the letters J S S.
The handwriting on the front page of Uncle Jake's copy of the C.Z. Mast Family History, published in 1911.
Uncle Jake Swartz was Elmer Smucker's uncle on his mother's side, and I remember that he lived with Grandma and Grandpa in the 1950's.
Here, from C.Z. Mast's book, is information on Grandpa's mother's family, including Uncle Jake.

For us, Amsterdam was about museums. And one of the great musuems of Europe is the Rijksmuseum - kinda the National Gallery of the Netherlands. And if you mention the words Dutch and Art in the same sentence, it often comes down to Mr. Rembrant van Rijn, or as we call him simply - Rembrandt.
There is a Hall of Honor on the top floor of the Rijks - and Rembrandt's most celebrated painting - titled long after it was done as Night Watch hangs there. (for much of its existence, the painting was coated with a dark varnish, which gave the impression that it depicted a night scene - leading to the name. The varnish was removed in the 1940s, 300 years after it was added. Thanks again Wikipedia.) Essentially a group photo - the title is officially "Militia Company of District II under the Command of Captain Frans Banninck Cocq", but it is a group photo of this Dutch militia company. But being Rembrandt - it's lit exquisitely; there's a reason we call it Rembrandt lighting in photography...
Unlike the Mona Lisa at the Louvre, there wasn't nearly the selfie hysteria for Night Watch - widely considered the most famous Dutch Golden Age painting (at least according to Wikipedia). But there was still a crowd around it at all times. There are actually quite a few paintings like this; could I have made a killing as a group portrait photographer in the 1640s? Well, only if I had Rembrandt light it all...
A nice Minerva!!
The Venus 175 was created by André Frey!! When he started to work for Minerva he designed the caliber 48, which is another beauty.
Later he even become the owner of Minerva and it had to happen. A Venus 175 in a new case the Minerva Heritage!
It happened there were only 97 produced of the 300. Which is a shame, well for the rest of you. Cause I got mine. ;-)
I had contact with the Technical director of the Institut Minerva de Recherche en Haute Horlogerie. He explained that there weren't enough movements to complete the series.
This Minerva Heritage Ref A 175-A8B is definitely one of my nicest watches; the looks, the history, the mechanics, etc.
Also finally I got the complete André Frey trio!!

When we're home, Bailey will bounce off the walls and bark with the best of them, but when she's home alone, she's more likely to hide in the closet when someone comes to the door.
'Seems she's way more confrontational,
when we have her six.
And it would seem, when she's off duty, she's OFF duty,
or she's just plain afraid of the dark w/o backup.
