Submitted this for the BBC website In Pictures them of "Mechanics" last week and was chuffed to find it on the site today - only the second time I've submitted, so maybe I'll stop now and keep a 50% success rate.

One of the things I’ve learned is: “mystery is the imaginations best friend”. You cannot see her face but human nature will always put a beautiful look on a concealed identity, especially if the subject happens to be a young female with long blonde hair. I shot this candid on a crisp November day, my imagination made her beautiful in my mind; hence this picture is entitled “Beautiful November”.

This week's prompt is: Reminds Me
This watch reminds me of my Oma... it was hers. She was a wonderful woman of very few words, but I always knew how very much I was loved by her because of her actions. As a military kid growing up, it was very hard to not be near her all the time but we were fortunate enough to be stationed nearby every few years. As an adult, I find I regret not being able to visit her in Germany more often, but financially it was very hard for me and my young family and am fortunate to have been able to visit her a couple times, which is better than never. I am grateful that when it came time to say goodbye to her my Mom and I were able to go home and be with our family and send her off to the angels above. I still miss her very much every day.

Photo taken on a historic map of india - from the turn of the last century - to add a little colour. Despite this, it's a brand new watch. Total cost: around $40 for the watch and $10 for the canvas band.
At Arte Museum in Vegas, we entered this room with ocean waves seemingly blasting at you from the wall. A lady was sitting on the floor enjoying her ocean view virtually. There was a tidal wave ambient in the air. So it felt kind of realistic yet soothing. Hard to describe unless go there and experience it. For $35 per person admission, it 's well worth in my opnion. There many room with different kinds of virtual reality experience. Vegas is now changing to more and more digital entertainment. You don't go there to gamble anymore.
Not too sure of the make of this one - any suggestions?
Quite like the mix of old-timey and new styling. The finish on the circular hour display looks a bit special.

Here Floydd is watching Ivan run back and forth on the ledge outside.. Floydd had been running back and forth too, but after a few minutes decided to just sit near the sink and watch!
It's really a pain in the butt trying to work in the kitchen with all of this going on, but I have to admit, it's so much fun to watch.......very entertaining!

This is the actual frame, not a crop. The watch has a diameter of 37mm. This was a hand held macro shot at the minimum focusing distance. Under these circumstances, my technique is to not use the focus ring, but to set it maximum magnification, and move the camera (along with my upper body, lol) back and forth to nail down the focus. Of course, it is necessary to stop breathing for a few seconds to accomplish this.
Rather than perfectly aligning the watch and the image plane, I kept the lens at a slight angle to see how much defocus I would have from the upper to the lower end of the watch. In the shot above, I focused on the Ulysse Nardin lettering. In the shot below, I focused on the little "SWISS MADE" lettering. I have also listed 100% crops of actual pixels.
