I took a walk in the woods today.

Die Tage zwischen den Jahreszeiten. Nicht mehr ganz Sommer, aber auch noch kein Herbst. Aber wenn man genau hinsieht, kann man bereits die ersten Spuren des Herbstes finden.

My cousin Mike and his wife Joyce are walk leaders for the Wakefield Health Walks. I joined them for a leaders walk with some other leaders, where they get to be a bit more adventurous than on the led walks. The pics are geotagged so click the map link to see exactly where we were. We took a bus from Wafefield Bus Station to Middlestown and returned again via bus from Overton. We covered around 6 miles which wern't all muddy, and the rain held off until we got home, then there was a big hail storm which I'm glad we didn't suffer in the open.

After our Christmas meal with my family in Veldenz, we went walking for a bit in Veldenz forest. The crest of Veldenz (or the old duchy of Veldenz) shows a lion, and the lion also pops up on trees all over the forest so you can make sure you find your way.

Walk in the Snow

The walk over the ice was a shortcut, these photos are from the walk back. Beautiful snow and sun. It always amazes how bright it can be, look at some of these settings!

On a walk around the Botanical Gardens with a Flickr friend. Christchurch September 2020 New Zealand

Cuningham House (originally called Winter Gardens) was built in 1923 and opened on 9 August 1924, funded by a bequest made to the Botanic Gardens by Mr C.A.C. Cuningham, a Christchurch law clerk, on his death in 1915.

It is a large, stately structure of architectural importance and is listed with the Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga. A spacious staircase leads to a large peripheral gallery where an extensive collection of tropical plants are displayed.

Both upper and lower Cuningham House contain fine collections of sub tropical plants including Dieffenbachia, Peperomia, Hoya, Anthurium and Dracaena.

This gorgeous wedding at the World's Fair Pavillion was hosted by a beautiful couple. The guests ate great food, great cake, and danced the night away in the park. The wedding and this fondant covered cake was loved by all!
