my friend gave me this from our youth group - a shoelace to remind us to walk in their shoes. (in this case particularly the persecuted)

Dean Martin, back, mechanic for Riverside fleet services, and Brenda Diederichs, Human Resources Dierctor, right front, work on lubricating a ladder on a ladder truck fire engine, during Walk in Our Shoes day. SEIU 721 City of Riverside members with assistance from the Riverside Police Officers’ Association and the Riverside City Firefighters’ Association, reached out to City management with the idea to commemorate Labor Day in a creative and educational way - by holding a job shadowing event where city council members and management participated in a Walk in Our Shoes, on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015.
