"Mount Hood, also known as Wy'east, is an active stratovolcano in the Cascade Range and is a member of the Cascade Volcanic Arc. It was formed by a subduction zone on the Pacific Coast and rests in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States."
In an ultimate "WTF" moment, CN brought Essexville, MI empties back to BNSF's doorstep in Chicago this morning under the care of a pair of tattered, aging CN C40-8M's. Leaving suburbia behind, WBD BNSF E CGKBTM8 13A nears the Mendota Sub near the west end of what once was CB&Q's Aurora Passenger Depot. BF-1 was there!
Snails hopefully! This female Snail Kite was hovering for just a moment to precisely locate her next snack just below the water's surface.

As always, thank you so much for stopping by and for leaving any comments or faves, they are very much appreciated.
What lies beneath? Facets of our being. Overwhelming detail, ideas and unknown fragments that shape patterns in our lives. They are all finely meshed together forming the whole being. Exploding with color. Both with form and without. Reflecting the whole from within.
Many thanks to ALL of you for your faves, comments and support. It means a lot to me. Big Hugs to ALL of you! 💖

The above question is what first came to mind when I first saw Ring Mountain. It's quite a fascinating sight, and apparently relatively recently formed, in geologic time.
More here on my blog, from a subsequent trip

We are searchlights, we can see in the dark
We are rockets, pointed up at the stars
We are billions of beautiful hearts
And you sold us down the river too far
We have had a great deal of rain lately along the Sunshine Coast of BC. And, when the temperature cooperates, fog will result. I find weather events to be both exciting and challenging at the same time. A photographer can not venture out to get an obvious shot but rather, must be more creative.
When I set out in the early morning with a few destinations in mind, the fog was already thick in some stops. I only made it to Trout Lake, which is minutes from home, where conditions were already changing the landscape. Standing on the shores of Trout Lake, I watched far side disappear while the fog rolled in. This was a good a spot to let nature work her magic, so the hours went by while the fog kept rolling.
I purchased flowers at the store
I planted, I waited and what I saw!!!!!
These are not the same as the photo's of the plants from the label.
Someone had switched them while I was at the purchasing table.
Much to my dismay and glum
It was the genetic manufacturing bum.
He made my plant bug and fire proof
and now I have to look at them like it's a spoof.
So be careful when you buy what you think they say it is,
in reality it's fake news and it really is what it is.
not real nor fake but a man made mess.
Don't buy them, don't eat them don't sleep with them
because soon you will look and feel like them.
The bottom skip was mine, taking away the rubbish. I'm having my garden renovated to make it easier to maintain. :-))
My much more experienced and expert Florida Landscape photographer friend and I were out on an exploratory in his boat when we could see the sky getting ready to put on a show. We didn't have a place to go and i was resigned to just enjoy it, sans camera. However, just as it was starting to pop Greg found a shallow spot to put the boat. We both jumped out without time to consider lens or change clothes for the water. It was worth getting wet. What a show. Thanks Greg!
Recently a pair of ex Conrail SD40-2s have been bouncing back and forth between Grand Rapids and Detroit. When I heard that both units were leading D706 that morning, which was about to leave in perfect morning sun, I had to go out and shoot them. Here 8849 and 8823 lead the 8,950 ton train east across the Thornapple River. A pair of SD40-2s is rated for 9,000 tons east of Grand Rapids, in perfect conditions. It was close!

Posted for the Smile on Saturday theme "Guessing Game".
This is probably too easy but I tried several options and liked this one best. Tomorrow I will add a photo of the complete item in the comments.

HSoS !
Pull me by the ankles to the edge of the bed
and take me like you do in your dreams.
I’m not gonna stop you, I’m not gonna stop you this time, baby.
I want you to show me what you mean,
then help me with the crossword in the morning.
You are gonna make me tea,
gonna ask me how did I sleep.
The flickering of a firefly in the night.
The labored breathing of a bison in winter.
The brief shadow that slides across the grass and is lost in the sun.

What is next? A beloved question my grandpa in law would ask me. He was always prepared for the next wonderful adventure life would bring. So I dare to ask you, “What is next?’. Ponder on what is on the other side of your bridge and get ready for the wonderful adventure that is to come!
Stubborn shadow, just like its owner. (This has NOT been photoshopped).

Phill was dishing up dinner and Fifi thought there could be a good opportunity for her, if she remained patient
The farm is a regular stop on Lula's walks, and she likes to pose for treats. I tried out my new duck call on her, and she found the noise very interesting.
This is a late afternoon view from the so called "Graves of Venizelos family" towards the small island of Agioi Theodoroi and the Rodopou peninsula in western Crete.
The graves of Venizelos family is one of the most popular places that offer a panoramic view of Chania and the surrounding area, only a few kilometres east of the city, on the road to Akrotiri and airport. Here are located the graves of the charismatic Greek politician, and seven times Prime Minister of Greece, Eleftherios Venizelos, and his son, Sofoklis Venizelos, who was also Prime Minister of Greece from 1943 to 1952.
