Taken at low tide, on the beach in the Comox Valley, I always check out this rock I prefer it when the tide is not quite this low, because this looks lovely under water will post an under water photo some other time.

The daily Twin Cities & Western run into Saint Paul hustles up the grade eastbound along the BNSF Midway Subdivision at Snelling Avenue.

The flickering of a firefly in the night.

The labored breathing of a bison in winter.

The brief shadow that slides across the grass and is lost in the sun.

She hummed while pacing back and forth. The tiny house shivering from her unwelcomed presence.

"One, two..." she sung, "Stab it through..."

"Three , four.." She paused, hopping over the seat and balancing the little puppets. "Scream for more..." she giggled.

The sound of a wolf howling outside made her lick her lips. The hunger for blood, for a meal suddenly making her belly rumble in need. Just as she was about to stop playing with the puppets, she heard several other howls in response and pouted.

"Why did it have to be a pack..." she hissed, her tail swaying from side to side in obvious bloodlust.

"Too hungry...if only it was a lone wolf...I could have feasted..." she sighed dramatically, shaking her head. "Perhaps I could eat them all..."

The puppets were left unattended and off she went.

Scent of smell luring her closer to her prey. The first wolf that howled was on the ready, hair rising, tail swaying dangerously and teeth barred all ready to attack her. She lunged.

The fight was not so bad. Decorated with red she bit into the wolf's neck, pulling a chunk of flesh before tossing the body to the ground. Licking her fingers while listening to the heartbeat of the creature. She reveled in the kill.

"Should I put you out of your misery?" she cooed towards the wolf, leaning closer only giving the warrior one chance to bite at her face in a sad attempt at some victory.

Just as she was about to retaliate, a group of wolves attacked her all at once...

Lets just say that she underestimated a wolf pack. United together, never abandoning one another and most of all, fighting to the very end to survive. That's just something she doesn't understand about humanity or animals. Why do they fight so much? To what end?

Did you just hear something..

This red-tailed hawk baby just fledged today and he's already being mobbed by kingbirds.

When you explore a forest you have never been before, there is always that aura of mystery that surrounds the unknown. What will you see, what will you discover, has anyone been there before ?

Elbstrand, Hamburg, Germany, 2017.

Went cycling today, starting in Hamburg port, then about 25 kilometers north, roughly following the river Elbe. While the first and the last shots are obviously within Hamburg, the middle one is only a few kilometers north of the city limits. What a change :-)

what men want (reworx)

It's a nothing: just shapes I saw ingrained in the beach of black rocks with volcanic grit and white seashell sand. But intriguing and mysterious isn't it? Dark and possibly dangerous, emerging from the shadow on a Scottish Highland beach

That though the radiance which was once so bright be now forever taken from my sight. Though nothing can bring back the hour of splendor in the grass, glory in the flower. We will grieve not, rather find strength in what remains behind.

The icy waters of the Sound were slowly receding, softly singing a lullaby as it withdrew, "Return to your warm bed and rest your weary head. Only treachery lies ahead, one false move and you will be dead". I replied, "Thank you Winter waters for your song of concern. I will heed your wisdom". I slipped on my cleats and continued past the rocks still covered in moss and mud.
