These two Cinnamon Black Bear COY ( cub of the year) didn't know what to make of the large noisy motor home that was passing near by.

The Alien
~Greg Delanty~
I’m back again scrutinizing the Milky Way
of your ultrasound, scanning the dark
matter, the nothingness, that now the heads say
is chockablock with quarks and squarks,
gravitons and gravatini, photons and photinos. Our sprout,
who art there inside the spacecraft
of your Ma, the time capsule of this printout,
hurling and whirling towards us, it’s all daft
on this earth. Our alien who art in the heavens,
our Martian, our little green man, we’re anxious
to make contact, to ask divers questions
about the heavendom you hail from, to discuss
the whole shebang of the beginning and end,
the pre-big bang untime before you forget the why
and lie of thy first place. And, our friend,
to say Welcome, that we mean no harm, we’d die
for you even, that we pray you’re not here
to subdue us, that we’d put away
our ray guns, missiles, attitude and share
our world with you, little big head, if only you stay.

Small said, 'But what about when we are dead and gone, will you love me then, does love go on?'
Large held Small snug as they looked out at the night, at the moon in the dark and the stars shining bright. 'Small, look at the stars, how they shine and glow, some of the stars died a long time ago. Still they shine in the evening skies, for you see, Small, love like starlight never dies...'

Roads are getting nearer
We cover distance but not together
I am the storm and I am the wonder
And the flashlights nightmares
And sudden explosions
This one is from the archives. In May of 2016, I watched as this inch worm reached the end of the leaf and then seemed to be figuring out what to do next. I've been holding on to this image, waiting for what felt like the right time or occasion to post it.. Tonight, after President Trump declared a national emergency here due to the coronavirus pandemic; after learning that all the schools in my state (and many others) will be closed from next Monday until the first week in April; and after my church, which has an older congregation, has cancelled worship services until after Palm Sunday, seems to be a fitting time. Stay safe and well, Flickr friends! I wish you all love, peace, happiness, and good health.
Update: This image still seems appropriate to our times. My church didn't have in person worship service for almost a year and a half. Thankfully, the county I live in has a very high vaccination rate, especially among older adults. Continue to stay safe, friends.
I'm doing some experimental work here and I not only welcome but I would like any suggestions and comments on this image. I feel there is something lacking in it, but I don't know what.
Symmetry is what we see at a glance; based on the fact that there is no reason for any difference...

UP 1943 crawls east towards Donner Summit on a cold October evening. The third unit had overheated and when the train was put into full throttle it started giving a really nice smoke show. The train would halt at the summit and sat for hours before finally making its final miles over the summit and down to Sparks.
Four months without you, dad
Missing you every day
“Tell me what is my life
without your love
Tell me who am I
without you by my side…”
Ready or not, some day it will all come to an end.
There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours, or days.
All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten, will pass to someone else.
Your wealth, fame, and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance.
It will not matter what you owned or what you were owed.
Your grudges, resentments, frustrations and jealousies will finally disappear.
So, too, your hopes, ambitions, plans and to-do lists will expire.
The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away.
It won't matter where you came from or what side of the tracks you lived on at the end.
It won't matter whether you were beautiful or brilliant.
Even your gender and skin colour will be irrelevant.
So what will matter? How will the value of your days be measured?
What will matter is not what you bought but what you built; not what you got but what you gave.
What will matter is not your success but your significance.
What will matter is not what you learned but what you taught.
What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage,
or sacrifice that enriched, empowered, or encouraged others to emulate your example.
What will matter is not your competence but your character.
What will matter is not how many people you knew but how many will feel a lasting loss when you're gone.
What will matter is not your memories but the memories of those who loved you.
What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom, and for what.
Living a life that matters doesn't happen by accident.
It's not a matter of circumstance but of choice
Chose to live a life that matters.
Michael Josephson
what if, and hear me out, people DO love you
your coworker who loves when they get to work a shift with you, even if you don't talk
your cousin who's relieved when they see you at family gatherings, who thinks you're "the cool cousin" but hasn't said anything out loud
your classmate who thinks you have great taste, even if they're too shy to speak up about it in class
your childhood friends who remember you fondly
the waiter you tipped during a busy night
that person you complimented on the street
the little kid you waved to
the old woman you made small talk with
people love you, because you're lovable, and you're worthy of love. even if it doesn't feel like it sometimes.
♡ your word is a lamp to guide my feet, and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105
“I think perhaps I will always hold a candle for you – even until it burns my hand.
And when the light has long since gone …. I will be there in the darkness holding what remains, quite simply because I cannot let go.”

You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometime you'll find
You get what you need . . .
