An unidentified WD 2-8-0 that is stored judging by the covered up chimney at Northampton shed ..1960.
North British (Glasgow) built WD 90775 was one of 12 Austerity 2-10-0's delivered to the Ministry of Supply in December 1943 for use in the Middle East, returning to the UK in August 1984 having been used by the Hellenic State Railways in Greece.
Seen about to couple up to it's train at Holt during the members and shareholders weekend, which included recently overhauled British Railways 1956 built Brake Corridor Composite E21103.

WD - Diplomatic Corps Wien
I spent the last two weeks of July in Central Bavaria with my family. Beautiful beer gardens, outdoor pools and so on, but nothing at all for platespotting. Then an excursion to Munich (first airport, then city centre) came quite right.
As expected, many foreign vehicles could be seen at the airport car parks. Unfortunately there were no exotics: GR, RUS(77) and IRL were the highlights of the day.
This diplomatic vehicle from Austria was the only foreign CD-plate on that day. I could imagine with a little luck discovering far more interesting things. But unfortunately Munich is not exactly around the corner for me. That means another visit in the near future is not too likely. ;-)
Seen in Munich, about 400km from home.
On 29 August 1964, 8F 2-8-0 90596 passes the remains of the closed Crossgates Station on 16 August 1963 with a long train of empty 24.5T mineral hoppers. It was based at Mexborough 36 and in 1955 at Frodingham 36C, but it moved to Polmadie in April 1958 and stayed there until August 1963, when it moved to Aberdeen Ferryhill 61B. It left there in April 1966 for Thornton 62A, and was withdrawn when the depot closed to steam in April 1967.
WD 90503 drifts through Royston and Notton Station with a northbound freight on a wet Monday 24 August, 1964. Royston Shed can be seen in the background. It was the last North Eastern shed (with a steam allocation) to close at the beginning of November, 1967.
WD 90534 runs light, tender first through Bogside on the Alloa-Dunfermline line . 8/9/66. This line is now a tarred cycleway - one that I have walked often in the last few years.

War Department 2-8-0 no. 90733, was built at the Vulcan foundary, Newton-le-Willows and was sent to work in the Netherlands, before moving to the Swedish State Railways. It was acquired by the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway in the 1970's and eventually returned to running order. In this view of the loco approaching Ingrow, it has been renumbered as 90711, bearing a 56F (Bradford Low Moor) shed plate. The original 90711 was allocated to that depot from 1958 to 1966, being withdrawn in January 1967 and cut up at Wadsley Bridge, Sheffield.
