On Wednesday 5 July, 1967, WD 90348 approaches the site of Ryhope East station (closed in 1964) near Sunderland towing a brakevan towards Seaham. It was withdrawn two months later when steam ended in the North East.

North British (Glasgow) built WD 90775 was one of 12 Austerity 2-10-0's delivered to the Ministry of Supply in December 1943 for use in the Middle East, returning to the UK in August 1984 having been used by the Hellenic State Railways in Greece.

Captured here running round it's train at Holt before returning to Sheringham during the members and shareholders weekend.

WD 90076 backs down to Wakefield Kirkgate station to take over 1X50 the LCGB Crab Commemorative Railtour to Goole on Saturday 8 October 1966. The train had arrived at Wakefield from Liverpool behind Crab 42942 which undertook the return journey from Goole.

These days Alloa looks nothing like this! The current Station has been built a few hundred yards east of the original . On 8/9/66, WD 90386 waits impatiently .

Steve Latham’s former War Department The Hunslet Engine Company Limited 18” x 26” 0-6-0ST ‘Austerity’ class locomotive number 132 SAPPER stands on the Through Siding line at Bury South on the East Lancashire Railway. Sunday 2nd February 2014

 

Note, 132 was built by The Hunslet Engine Company Limited (works number 3163) at the Jack Lane works in Hunslet, Leeds in April 1944 for the Ministry of Supply as War Department number 5113. It was renumbered 75113 in 1944 (between August and November) and was further renumbered 132 in 1951. It was sold to The Hunslet Engine Company Limited in October 1962 and was rebuilt, being issued the new works number 3885 in 1964. It was purchased by the National Coal Board in July 1970, being moved to Gresford Colliery in December 1970 where it was named ALISON. It was moved to Bold Colliery as number 63.000.410 on 3rd April 1974, being renamed JOSEPH on 15th February 1980 during overhaul at the Walkden Workshops. Steam operations finished at Bold Colliery in 1984 with JOSEPH entering preservation

WD 90071 (Dunfermline) runs light engine round the back of Alloa Station , 8/9/66.

On Saturday 9 July 1966, an unidentified WD passes through Dunfermline Station on a freight.

WD 90423 is in charge of a freight train near Warrington on 20 April 1962. Allocated to Widnes in July 1959, it remained there until March 1963 when it was transferred to Wigan (Springs Branch). It moved to Colwick in September 1964 from where it was withdrawn in December 1965.
