The short lived Thamesway name from the 1990's. In the area covered by this timetable the Badgerline Group's Thamesway operation took over the old Eastern National routes. Thamesway became First Thamesway in the late 1990's before being superceded by First Essex.
People in an autorickshaw on a street in Old Manali, Himachal.
Stuck in the steep and narrow streets of Old Manali, the autorickshaw driver was vociferously trying to get things moving. This got the attention of his little passenger who jumped up to have a look at the excitement outside.
I love the curiosity that children show towards everyday life. We adults on the other hand, engrossed within ourselves at most times, hardly register life around us. Being curious and seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary is a challenge I give myself every time I step out to click street shots.

History going back to the 12th century when Cluniac Monks established a monastery here. Suffered during Henry VIII's dissolution and was passed in to private ownership, noteably the Scratton family. Now the centre piece within Priory Park which was presented to the Borough of Southend-On-Sea as a gift from prominent local businessman R.A. Jones early in the 1920's.
A quick snapshot of AY67 PXM getting close to the end of its journey from Chelmsford, winding through villages away the main road, to Southend-On-Sea, Essex.
Displayed at the Airborne Museum Hartenstein, Oosterbeek, Netherlands.
This wheel guide is most likely from the 1940's, but Kodak had similar guides at the end of the Victorian era for use with their folding camera models. I can remember seeing later versions of this type of guide in a shop window of a specialist photographic shop during the early 1960's. May well have been old stock of course.

N877MG at the Flying Festival 2019 held at Old Warden Airfield by the Shuttleworth Collection.
This Dakota was one of seven D-Day Squadron aircraft at the event. Some, like N877MG, were allowing the general public to view the aircraft from inside.
N877MG saw wartime service on the China-Burma-India supply route. She is currently in the livery representing a Pan American Airways aircraft from 1949.
This is the statue within a monument dedicated to the "Soldier King" of Belgium. It is located at Nieuport, Belgium. H.R.H. King Albert I was King of the Belgiums from 1909 until his death in a mountaineering accident in 1934. A popular King who took charge of Belgium military forces during WW1. There was a small area of Belgium that was not occupied by the Germans and King Albert I was acclaimed for defending it whilst also trying to broker a peace deal with Germany. He was not particularly supportive of British or French ideas of how the war should be conducted.
Founded by Thomas Mildmay in 1565. Rebuilt by William Mildmay in 1758. There is an inscription on the building showing this information.
Just off Shaftesbury Avenue in the West End is this theatre that opened in November 1916. St Martin's Theatre is famed for hosting the long running production of The Mousetrap since March 1974. Previously The Mousetrap had been at Ambassadors theatre, a smaller theatre that opened in 1913, right next door to the St Martin's Theatre.. The Mousetrap ran at the Ambassadors from 1952 until early 1974.

The famous pleasure pier stretching out in to the Thames Estuary has had a railway since 1892. A tramway is really a better description of it. Recent reports in the local press say that discussion is in progress to replace the two current trains and track that came in to service back in 1986.

The impressive Grand Opera House opened on 23rd December 1895. Has had its own turbulent past, coming close to demolition when in the ownership of the Rank Organisation. It recieved some bomb damage on more than one occasion during The Troubles from nearby blast effect.

For the second spring in a row, I found myself in Vancouver this year. Last year it was a week long layover on my way to Bangkok; this year it was for a bit of yogic study: I did a Yin yoga teacher training with Paul and Suzee Grilley (at Semperviva on Granville Island – tucked away on the pier by the house boats). It was an intensive time of study but downtime was spent wandering the city with old friends, new friends, or just by myself. Most of the time, I could be found by the ocean.
I should mention that on this trip I used airbnb to find some locals living downtown who put me up in their bedroom. It was a very positive experience and I would recommend that any traveler give it a shot. The host gets some income and an interesting visitor, while the guest gets a good value accommodation and a local friend. It really is a win-win arrangement.
Following up this trip I began locally teaching yoga some evenings over at The Edge Village and Gallery and will be continuing to in the foreseeable future. For those inclined, please join us on Wednesday evenings at 7:30. Bring yourself, a mat, a towel if you’d like a little extra padding, and $5 for the jar at the front.

A nicely restored building with ongoing development as a craft and business centre in progress.
The present day building replaced an earlier mill with the locally well know family business of W.H. Marriage and Sons operating on this site for 200 years until closure of Moulsham Mill in 1971. This building dates back to 1819 with a major upgrade in 1860 and extensions added in 1890.
On the far left of this photograph in the distance is the only remaining complete Battle of Britain radar tower.
I wonder how well German produced cars were recieved in the UK in 1937. The Great War would still have been in many peoples memories and storms clouds for a rematch were gathering.
The address in the advertisement is now a purpose built Aldi supermarket, so German branded items are once again on offer from the same address.
A hole dug by a Sloth Bear while feeding on a termite or ant hill in Jhirna range of Corbett National Park, Uttarakhand.
Sloth Bears are primarily insectivorous and relish eating ants and termites. They destroy the insects' nesting hills and dig deep into the nests to clean them out by sucking in all the insects like a vacuum cleaner.
Here, the bear's claw marks can be seen around the wall of the hole. Such holes are usually big enough for a small framed person to enter.
