Schoolboy sitting on the side of a road near Kausani, Uttarakhand.
With an exam sheet board in his lap, this boy was just sitting around and eating a snack. Reminded me of the Beatles song, "I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round, I love to watch 'em roll...".

A worn out book in Pong Lake near Dhameta, Himachal.
This seemingly religious text was - most likely - laid into a river upstream of the lake, and ended up in the open surrounding marshland when the lake waters receded with the onset of winter season.
The true power of any sacred scripture lies in the words it contains and their interpretation. These words outlive the existence of any media, like a book. The sad reality of modern times is that we give more reverence to physical texts rather than the religious and spiritual knowledge and understanding that they are meant to disseminate.

I love the curiosity that children show towards everyday life. We adults on the other hand, engrossed within ourselves at most times, hardly register life around us. Being curious and seeing the extraordinary in the ordinary is a challenge I give myself every time I step out to click street shots.

The famous pleasure pier stretching out in to the Thames Estuary has had a railway since 1892. A tramway is really a better description of it. Recent reports in the local press say that discussion is in progress to replace the two current trains and track that came in to service back in 1986.
Pied Bush Chat bird perched on a Pearl Millet plant in a field near Ludhiana, Punjab.
