A lifeguard getting ready for his day's duty early morning at Padang Padang Beach, Bali.
I'm always intrigued by the support staff - like lifeguards, cleaning crew, etc. - at tourist destinations who enable families to enjoy safe holidays while themselves staying in the background.

WLT 897 at North Weald Station on the Epping Ongar Railway. Did the round trip from North Weald Station to Epping Central Line Station on this iconic heritage bus.
Only about 3,000 of the original Routemasters were made, but around 1,000 still survive.
Freightliner Class 66 diesel-electric freight locomotive at Barking. 66569 viewed through the window of a moving train travelling at roughly the same speed as the Freightliner locomotive.
The sucessful Class 66 locomotives were made from 1998 until 2008. Some were exported.
The Kursaal now stands empty again after another business running the site had failed. Very high local council rates probably didn't help.
The famous landmark building opened in 1901 as one of the first ever major amusement parks. It closed in 1986 after many years of decline. Most of the land was sold off for housing. But the Grade II listed main building survived and reopened in 1998 with a bowling alley being the main feature. Now empty apart from squatters who have tried to move in.

White-throated Kingfisher perched on a tree near Ludhiana, Punjab.
These are tree or wood kingfishers. And unlike what their name suggests, they are not expert fish-eaters.

An independent cycle shop retailer with a very 1950's style frontage. Even has a Christmas Club. T McCabrey Cycles started their business in 1948. I noticed that their daily opening time was 9.45 a.m.
The Raleigh brand name has been well know since their beginnings in 1887. However Raleigh became part of the Dutch based Accell Group in 2012.

This young deer was standing only a couple of feet from the road and staring at the edge of the jungle. It was making repeated alarmed calls, pointing towards the high probability of there being a big-cat, tiger or leopard, nearby.

Apparently some inmates who have had overnight stays in this police station have entered reviews and ratings for it on B&B comparison websites. It has done rather well!

Not the most picturesque of railway station. A very important mainline interchange that has been here in one form or another since 1850. Now operated by the modern day version of LNER on the East Coast Mainline.
