Looking very smart is this building constructed of wood around a steel framework. It replaced a pair of old cottages of the same appearance that had no foundations and were in an unsafe condition. Age of the old cottages was unknown, but they had a listed status, hence the reconstruction ( referred to as regeneration by the Salvation Army) between July and December 2016 in the same style. The building now has many roles, a sort of community hub.

Class 465 and 466 units dating from the early 1990's looking a lot younger in their current livery.
Charing Cross Station also looks very clean and modern. The original station on this site was built in the 1860's. Bombed heavily during WW2 and rebuilt in the post war years. Another major upgrade in the 1980's and plenty of building work going on around it on the day that I travelled through it.
A modern style of church dating from 1985. The previous church building is now a very busy café.

This bandstand built in 1891 was originally at Gatwick Race Course which also opened in 1891. The race course was closed in 1940 for the duration of the war, but it never reopened. In the early post war years The corporation developing Crawley New Town purchase the bandstand for £60. The bandstand was renovated and place in Queens Square, the centre piece of the new town, during 1958. In 2018 the bandstand was moved again to Memorial Gardens, less than 2 minutes walk from the old site. Looks to be in a good setting here. The gospel style choir performing on the bandstand were really good to listen to. The bandstand appears to still have a long future ahead of it.
Part of an extensive full size diarama scene depicting the Operation Market Garden failed military action in September 1944.
This display is at the Hartenstein Airborne Museum, Ooterbeek, Netherlands. The building itself played a central role in Operation Market Garden being a combined headquarters, casualty station and one of the last defensive positions before the Allied troops were evacuated.
I believe the car is a pre 1936 Opel model, probably a 1.3 litre.
