This scene was part of an enormous re-creation of a dance festival (Ultra Music Festival 2014) with around 3500 minifigures taking part. Music booming out of the cleverly LEGO disguised speakers and there was a fantastic light show to complete the experience. Backstage, you could find security monitoring every aspect of crowd safety, the stage crew, stage lorries and of course, the exclusive VIP party with a very apt Force Awakens launch theme.
The entire scene took around 700 hours to build and comprised of approximately 30,000 pieces!

I do not own the models within this photo and credit goes to the owners and creators of these fantastic LEGO scenes. Thank you for bringing them to London BRICK 2015!
Unfortunately, I did not get the name of the creator(s) of this amazing piece. It was one of my favourites of the BRICK2015 show.

CTV arrived on the scene to record a video clip discussing the news story of the stabbing death of Carl Reinboth the social worker. God rest his soul.
Carl Reinboth worked as a social worker in Chinatown with socially disadvantaged citizens. He is remembered by many.
He was stabbed on this street corner, Somerset at Arthur streets by a young man for no known reason. Hours later an
older man (84) was stabbed at the corner gas station. Police arrested 20-year-old Honor Charlie. He is now locked up inside.
Here is the street memorial at the very site: www.flickr.com/photos/mikeygottawa/51215643952/

JVC camera with Canon lens (?) in the Interactive Newsroom on the second floor of the Newseum, in Washington, DC.
The person who goes by the name of Kristal Kira set up their 4K video system again this year, using only one camera this time instead of the two-camera setup at last year's Doo Dah Queen Tryouts. It was also placed in a different location, next to one of the tables for the judges, instead of up close to the stage and to the right of where I shot this. I suppose it was blocking the view of some of the contestants and American Legion members who enjoy the Queen Tryouts. I checked out Kira's YouTube channel, and while I didn't see the queen tryouts there I did see last year's parade. The camera was in lock-down mode and simply recorded the entire parade in real time, capturing all the acts as they passed by. I noticed also that Kira set the camera to run at 60p in 4K mode. The monitor here showed the same thing, shooting 4K at 60p, which makes it look more like live video than what I like to use on HD, which is 24p. That frame rate makes it look more like I am shooting film, close to Super-16mm film.
This is a frame capture from HD video using the Canon EOS Rebel T6 camera, with the Canon 18-55mm zoom lens. Once I get started editing this video I will include this shot, but you probably wouldn't be able to tell the video on the monitor is 60p, let alone 4K.
If you are interested, you can check out Kira's video of last year's Doo Dah Parade. I didn't see a link for the Queen Tryouts.

Anyway, you can see Mark, seated to the right on the monitor, playing a guitar instead of a steel guitar, part of the new "look" for the newly named New Astroturf String Band.

A Poem About Agent Tattletale
“Americans do drugs,” says Agent Tattletale, “because they don’t do leisure very well.”
Instead, they do Percodans, Vicodins, OxyContin.
Agent Tattletale onstage, one hand holds his video camera as a mask
to hide half his face.
The rest of him, off-the-rack in a brown suit. Brown shoes.
A mustard-yellow vest. His straight brown hair combed back.
A yellow bow tie and a white button-down dress shirt.
There, the white of his shirt shimmers,
patterned with movie actors.
Instead of a spotlight, Agent Tattletale is a screen for stock footage:
a shot of some theater audience.
Rows and rows of people, all of them,
their crowds of hands all clapping without a single
sound.
Onstage stands Agent Tattletale, favoring his left leg,
leaning a little more to the right all the time.
Instead of one eye, that spot filled by the red
RECORD
light of the video camera, watching.
Instead of an ear, on that side the built-in
microphone. To hear nothing but himself.
Agent Tattletale, he says, “Americans are the world’s best at doing their work.”
And studying and competition.
But we suck when it comes time to relax.
There’s no profit. No trophy.
Nothing at the Olympic Games goes to the Most Laid-Back Athlete.
No product endorsements for the World’s Laziest
anything.
His camera eye on auto-focus, he says, “We’re great at winning and losing.”
And nose grindstoning,
but not accepting. Not shoulder shrugging and tolerance.
“Instead,” he tells himself, “we have marijuana and television. Beer and Valium.”
And health insurance.
To refill, as needed.
Exerpted from Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk
Haunted is a 2005 novel by Chuck Palahniuk. The plot is a frame story for a series of 23 short stories, most preceded by a free verse poem. Each story is followed by a chapter of the main narrative, is told by a character in main narrative, and ties back into the main story in some way. I have decided to make a series of portraits of each of the 19 characters in this book. The title quote is the first line of each character's story and the description is each character's poem. The portraits are my personal interpretation to the words of the book.</i

I met him while he was trying to detach a heavy bag from his bike.
He said the city was getting less tolerant towards people that looked like they were homeless. No, he wasn't homeless, he answered my question. But he needed a bath and he hadn't slept enough. He didn't explain why. He carried two videocamera's with him. To record evidence. He didn't like his home because he got stalked there.
I asked if I could take his photo and that was fine as long as he didn't have to look straight in the camera. He was superstitious about that.
