This saying arises from a simple yet essential distinction: to dominate is not the same as to have value. In contemporary society, what occupies space, gathers numbers, and imposes itself through visibility and force is often perceived as strong and successful. Yet domination is not a measure of worth.
What truly has value does not need to prevail over others in order to exist. It does not need to invade, to overpower, or to control. It may be rare, less visible, less noisy, and yet remain whole. Between what dominates and what is worthy, the difference lies in conscience. Domination is an act of power; value is a moral quality.
This proverb distinguishes quantity from quality, appearance from integrity, consensus from conscience. What dominates may appear powerful; what truly has value does not need to prove itself through domination.
I use artificial intelligence as an artistic instrument, shaped deliberately to serve my expressive needs. It is not a replacement for the pure arts—poetry, music, painting, sculpture, photography, cinema—which remain for me primary and irreplaceable languages. Here, AI is simply a tool, bent to intention, used to translate concepts and visual proverbs into images that embody my artistic vision.
Stockaded forts, common in some parts of North American, were of no particular value in Arizona. To obtain supplies, Indians attacked isolated ranches & freight wagon trains, & it was tactically better for them to engage army units in the hills & canyons.
The high number of Medals of Honor awarded to soldiers stationed in Arizona during the 1870's & 80's bears some testimony to Indian ferocity & skill in warfare, but the final outcome of the Apache Wars was not determined by the battle skill nor courage exhibited by either side. It was determined by resources & organization of effort, & by which side could consistently outdistance & outlast the other in a very mobile war of attrition.
The Apache & Yavapai lacked unity, partly because the small band & its loyalties were compatible with nomadic tradition. When in the field, the army was not burdened by immediate family concerns as the Indian warriors often were. By winter campaigning, by keeping on the move, the army achieved increasing advantage with its greater resources of personnel, supplies, & communications. Overriding all from beginning to end, the growing settler population & the increasingly intensive use of the land were terminating traditional Indian culture. These patters were repeated throughout most of western North American during the second half of the 19th Century.

International fashion icon and social entrepreneur BiBi Russell presented "Doing Good in Style" at Intersections on April 4, 2011. Featured in Asiaweek as one of the 20 people to watch in the millennium, Bibi Russell shared her journey from global super-model to a world leader in the fashion industry, and creating the concept of “Fashion for Development.”Bibi Productions, her company, specializes in the design and production of handmade clothing and accessories produced entirely from natural products by the artisan community of Bangladesh. She is a leader who chooses to make decisions based on value systems that promote justice, reconciliation, peace and human dignity.
1. This image investigates the element of value by showing the transition of colour in the sky caused by light.
2. The subject matter of the photograph is the sky. More specifically the changing colours of the clouds cause by the lighting. I approached my subject from a point on the ground where i could get the most interesting clouds with the highest level of change in colour.
3. The most visually striking aspect of this photo was the bright blue sky contrasting against the white/grey clouds.
4. if i could shoot this photograph again i would do it so the light shines through the clouds to make my image more interesting and take it on an open field with no interference.
1) This is value. the brightness of the sun contrasts with the leafs.
2) this is a bush and the sun. they are vibrant and visually interesting. i angled myself slightly away from the sun but still facing it and shot through a bush of brightly coloured leafs.
3). the leafs are the most striking. i think they are vibrant and the most visually stimulating.
4) i would photoshop it differently. i think it looks a little fake.

The element represented in this photo is value. It's represented through the different reds you see in the photo.
The subject of this photo is a smiley face firework. I approached this subject by waiting for the firework to be frozen for a split second as i took the picture.
I think the most success aspect of this photo is how the red from the firework reflected in the water beneath it.
If I could shoot it again, i'd improve on the sharpness of the subject.

Today and Monday I got to go to a class just for fun. It was a portrait workshop hosted by the Muskogee Art Guild. The first day we got some pointers and did a value study of two models. Today we turned one value study into a painting. I suppose if you were there the extra day you could have turned both into paintings.
