In the Book of the Dead it says, “My steps are now in position so that I may see the Gods.” Most usage of the ladder is symbolizing to go from this world to the next. However, this thought only assumes that there are two worlds, whereas most cultures assume three, the present, the higher (like Heaven) and the lower. Thus, the ladder can be seen to symbolize the different stages. Each stage can then be subdivided into smaller ones (like three, five and seven) to symbolize further, smaller, breakthroughs needed to be able to advance. It is also interesting to note that the number of steps is an odd number. Indeed, Vitruvius noted that most ancient temples had odd numbered steps. He cited the reason for this to be that any pilgrim climbing the stairs would necessarily arrive at the top with the same step as the one he started out with. Hence, if the first step was taken with the right foot, it would be the right foot to reach the top. This was considered a good omen. It could also be because in the Pythagorian system, odd numbers were considered more perfect that even numbers. It can therefore be said that the usage of odd-numbered stairs was intended to symbolize the perfection the candidate was expected to reach. Also interesting is the exact number of stairs. Some tracing boards of he 18th century show only 5 steps, whereas in Hemming lectures (used in England) the total number of steps was given as 25, divided into series of one, three, five, seven, and nine.

ILRI has been working in Odisha since 2013 in collaboration with Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), the Orissa State Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation (OMFED) and the state government’s DAH&VS and F&ARD to improve the state's livestock productivity through better use of crop residues and locally sourced feed supplements within the framework of the CGIAR Cereal Systems Initiatives for South Asia (CSISA).
An international workshop on 'Improving Livestock Feeding Practice and Enhancement of Feed and Fodder Availability in Odisha' was organized jointly by Society for Management of Information, Learning and Extension (SMILE) and ILRI in 2015.
Based on the workshop’s recommendations, Odisha's F&ARD Department is recommending in 2016 the preparation of a comprehensive fodder development plan for Odisha.

The result is a wireless/digital task management system that aids interoffice communication and management.

A retro revolver for the adventurous space bounty hunter, the "Impetus" utilizes a Metal Storm system in place of traditional firing methods. Each cylinder is pre-loaded with an electronically-ignited caseless high-caliber round. Scientists and engineers utilize NETL’s state-of the-art Mechanical Testing Laboratory to determine the mechanical behavior and performance of materials. Our researchers test a material’s ability to withstand cyclical mechanical loads for a large number of cycles and resulting crack growth behavior of materials at temperatures up to 1200 °C. They also study the ability of materials to withstand mechanical loads for long periods of time up to 1100 °C. This Lab also has capabilities to test a material’s compressive and tensile strength—the resistance to breaking under tension—from room temperature to 1200 °C, as well as impact testing and hot-hardness testing.

There are two loops to the Yearling Trail: an outer loop of 5.5 miles, which connects to and utilizes a portion of the Florida Trail, and an inner loop of 3.5 miles. Both are accessed via a linear connector trail from the main parking area on US 19 through the Big Scrub. A secondary parking area, Pat's Island Trailhead, may also be used to access the Yearling Trail via the Florida Trail southbound from the trailhead.
The natural beauty of the area and the colorful life style of these rugged people fascinated the author, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. She stayed with the last two inhabitants of the island, Calvin and Mary Long in October 1933. During this and other visits she recorded many stories told by the Longs. Calvin's childhood story of nursing a deer from a fawn gave her the idea for the Pulitzer Prize winning novel "The Yearling". The book was made into a movie starring Gregory Peck, Jane Wyman and Claude Jarman, Jr. and was filmed on location in the early 1940's.
For the filming of "The Yearling" by MGM between 1939 and 1940, sets were constructed on Pat's Island, with crew and actors brought in for exterior scenes. The Florida State Archives has an excellent slide show of pre-production and location shots.

I create bodies of work that explore subjects such as gender, artifice, and spectacle. Utilizing processes ranging from directorial to anthropological, I showcase exuberantly irrepressible personalities who revel in challenging clichés associated with masculinity and femininity. A sampling of recent subjects include Girls Girls Girls (the world's first and only all-female Mötley Crüe tribute band), Tazzie Colomb (the world's longest competing female bodybuilder), and LACTIC Incorporated (an avant-garde clothing brand that takes the detritus of corporate life and reinterprets it into one-of-a-kind structural garments that challenge the polarization of gender).
With my current project "Life is Drag", I am documenting the most singular and innovative performers of the currently exploding alt-drag and neo-burlesque scenes. I am 3 years into this project and have so far made 250+ portraits, created in my Brooklyn studio as well as during residencies - in 2021 in New York City (The Cell Theater, Bushwig) and in Pittsburgh (The Kelly Strayhorn Theater, Blue Moon Bar, Bloomfield Garden Club), and in 2020 in New England (3S Artspace).
Over the course of my 2 month Wave Pool residency, I worked with 25 performers - including members of Cincinnati based ODD Presents drag haus and Smoke & Queers burlesque troupe, as well as with other performers from the tri-state area.
The residency also included an exhibition featuring this ever-growing archive, as well as multiple live performance events. These photos are from the closing reception at Wave Pool on April 30th, 2022, featuring performances by:

Backbone and allies like IVAW, CodePink and more utilized creative tactics to grab the media's attention and make our shared values more visible at the opening of the Bush presidential library and policy institute.
An administration whose failed policies and warmongering doesn't deserve a memorial, the fact that people laugh at the idea of a Bush Library is a testament to their folly. The Bush Lie-Bury is a reverse memorial to the 8 years (a following wake) of fallen lives and squandered opportunities that has led this country down such a terrible path.
By day, activists used bobble-head paper mache puppets rendered in the likeness of Bush, Cheney and the rest of his gang to force Dallas police to arrest them, giving us a cathartic if only symbolic relief. At night, activists agitated and inspired onlookers with light projections in downtown Dallas affirming and making our values visible. The creative tactics utilized earned the attention of the media who has largely ignored objections to the memorial.
China's chief, Xi Jinping, utilized his yearly New Year's Eve address in 2021 to praise the enthusiastic accomplishments of the Chinese public. In a year set apart by crackdowns on tech organizations, checks on getting by the country's property firms, and a refusal to move on prohibitive Coronavirus strategies, Mr. Xi made no immediate notice of the economy or business.

The great East Window was glazed c. 1350-60, utilizing almost entirely white, blue, red and yellow glass. This limited palette, together with the overall organization of the window, is a true forerunner of the Perpendicular style. The detail of the window however is equally convincingly Decorated and can be closely compared (apart from the colouring) to the chancel clerestory windows at Tewkesbury Abbey (of c. 1340-4). The window is canted (4+6+4 lights) almost as if it were a huge triptych or 'monumental hieratic reredos in glass' (Jill Kerr); the overall sculptural effect is indeed remarkable. The claim that the window is a massive war memorial to the Battle of Crecy (1346) is really little more than speculation. It is more probably the result of royal patronage or of a combined outpouring of national pride coinciding with the completion of the architectural framework.
The theme is perhaps best described as 'The Virgin and Christ in Majesty'. It has long been called the Coronation of the Virgin, but, though the Virgin and Christ are certainly there in the place of honour, they are not unduly emphasized and both are already crowned. The window is arranged in nine tiers, the bottom two, flanking the Lady Chapel entrance, plainly glazed, with simple borders. The canopies become more elaborate, though less detailed, the higher up one goes, almost forming a hypothetical structure independent of the actual window tracery. The backgrounds to the main tiers are alternately red and blue, though red is doubled down the centre and its flanking blues ornately patterned. The window seems amazingly complete from a distance; closer examination however reveals that much has been amended.

BlueWater Technologies utilized digital signage, show control, video wall, advanced A/V distribution, and touchscreen technologies along with custom programming to create an immersive and interactive experience for the visitor. This technology transported the visitor from the United States to a small village in Tanzania. Through the use of interactive technologies throughout the experience, the user is invited to experience a small portion of the lives of the locals through the eyes of a 13 year old villager. In addition, NFC and Facial Recognition Technologies were used to track visitor interactions with specific displays to judge the effectiveness of each individual element.

The new Pro Stock Mopar Dodge Avenger was developed in-house at Chrysler Group LLC. The project utilized Chrysler Group LLC tools and resources also employed to build the production Dodge Avenger, creating a connection between the street and the quarter-mile.
The production Dodge Avenger is a perfect template for the dragstrip. The Dodge Avenger’s bold styling and aggressive looks communicate the performance capability of the Dodge brand’s midsize sedan.
The greatest challenge to the Dodge Motorsports Engineering team tasked with the project was maintaining maximum identity of the Dodge Avenger in the new body without forsaking performance on the dragstrip.
“Our team worked within NHRA’s rules to balance aerodynamic performance goals and maximize Dodge Avenger identity,” said Joe Vitous, SRT & Motorsports aero-thermal manager. “The new Mopar Dodge Avenger meets or exceeds the aero goals we established.”
Mopar-powered NHRA Pro Stock drivers, including Team Mopar driver Allen Johnson, worked closely with the Dodge Motorsports Engineering team to ensure that the new Pro Stock Dodge Avenger was large enough to accommodate all safety features, such as the roll cage and quick ingress and egress in case of an emergency. The size of the front door of the Avenger was adjusted to maximize driver safety.
“I’m very excited to race the new Mopar Dodge Avenger,” Johnson commented. “We’ve been racing the Stratus since mid-2003. Just having a change is an upgrade. We feel we’ve been at a disadvantage with some of our competitors who have been racing in newer bodies for the last few years. I was fitted for the new body in late September. NHRA was there, and we spent a lot of time going over the templates. That was exciting. I’m glad we’re going ahead full bore.”

Utilizing both the Bard brothers painting and Samuel Ward Stanton's illustration, I was able to get this accurate scale drawing to be realized. However, there are several differences in detail which are based upon the actual measurements of the steamer.
Factoring all the information, coupled with my experience in steamboat design, this was the final conclusion of this early Hudson River sidewheeler, to date.
A few utilization cages as of this date had been placed on the steep, loose-shale slopes of the Green River Formation that this federally listed biennial species (Phacelia argillacea) grows on to see if they would help with predation from digging animals (mainly squirrels) and to try to increase seed production of this very rare global endemic. Reportedly the cages were not terribly successful in this regard.
Herbivory and other damage from native wildlife was not the primary threat, but a compounding factor in connection with a species with as few as 200 plants at this location (and having only one other location, and with no federal lands ownership). Habitat loss and impacts from railroad and UDOT and past poor grazing management and incursions of invasive species (such as Hound's tongue) plus direct impacts from sheep that would be herded directly down these steep slopes thereby trampling plants of this species in the process were the bigger threats.

NFL Player Sport Jersey was engineered and constructed to duplicate the individual team and skill position utilizing similar fabrics and applications from the Pro Cut version. Screenprinted front, back and TV player numbers, player name on a sewn down name plate and team name or logo on front chest or sleeves, where applicable. Flat knit construction collar with NFL Jerseys patch sewn down on bottom of front collar or fabric insert. RBK vector sewn on each sleeve with team stripes, if applicable, duplicated either as a set-in stripe, screenprint stripe or as a knit in jacquard.
