7.15–8.15 AMBREAKFAST ROUNDTABLE (INVITE ONLY)
UPSKILLING TO DECREASE THE LABOR AND DIVERSITY DIVIDE
Today, U.S. companies are facing the highest talent shortages in a decade. The skills gap between the current workforce and organizations’ needs is only widening because of the digital acceleration and transformation Covid has ushered in. How can companies create a talent pipeline with critical digital skills, while also driving inclusivity and advancing diverse and underrepresented talent within their organization? How will the shift to a skills-first paradigm break down systemic hiring barriers and create opportunities for everyone? Hear more about the collaborations between the public and private sectors that are closing the labor shortage and skills gap by creating upskilling opportunities, and the training that is producing the most adaptable, diverse, and highly skilled workforce the country has ever seen.

This formed part of their practical studies under the Renewable Energy Skills Development Programme Phase 1, which started in April 2023 and ended in September 2023. The skills program is a partnership between the USAID Southern Africa Energy Program (SAEP), a Power Africa initiative, and the Energy and Water Sector Education and Training Authority (EWSETA), which to date has upskilled 89 women electricians and artisans and 11 lecturers to work with renewable energy.
