The stone sculptures in Sno, a small village in the Kazbegi region of Georgia, are part of a remarkable art project in the Caucasus. These sculptures consist of impressive stone artworks depicting giant faces, often with a melancholic or mysterious expression. They were created by local artist Merab Piranishvili, who is renowned for his unique ability to bring faces and emotions to life in natural stone. Working primarily with local stones, he carves expressive facial features that tell stories about life, the soul, and the deep connection with nature. The sculptures symbolize the ancient wisdom of the mountain dwellers and the spirit of the past. The faces sometimes appear sad or contemplative, reflecting both the challenges and the beauty of life in the Caucasus. Fully integrated into the surrounding landscape, the sculptures stand among the mountains, hills, and rugged grasslands, blending seamlessly with their natural environment. This is what makes Piranishvili’s work so unique: he respects the natural shapes of the stones and subtly adds human characteristics without compromising their raw, natural beauty. Piranishvili often works directly in the field, selecting local stones and carving them with a hammer and chisel. He carefully considers the natural form of each stone, adapting his designs to create a result that looks organic and harmonizes with the surrounding environment.
Sno is located near the breathtaking Stepantsminda area and the imposing Mount Kazbegi. The stone sculptures are a hidden gem in this region, attracting an increasing number of art enthusiasts and travelers. The site exudes a serene, almost meditative atmosphere—perfect for those seeking something unique off the beaten path. If you ever find yourself near Kazbegi, these sculptures are well worth a visit. They offer a truly unique experience where art and nature come together in perfect harmony.

My attention was drawn to this entrance because of the six engravings.
Black and White with only Blue.
I don't know why but the entrance is lit inside with a blue light.

This working would have been too early for the light, but was running aprox 80 late at this stage.
This is a two image stitch to get the full train in using the longer focal length.

You are unique - just like everybody else.
I thought about buying the head as a decoration, and then I saw the price... Spotted in the lovely town of Quimper, in Brittany, France.

Small church on the mountain Sveti Jure :)
Mountain Sveti Jure (St. George mountain) is the highest peak in the Biokovo range (1762 m) and the second highest mountain in Croatia, located about 25 km from Makarska. There is a road to the top, through national park Biokovo, the highest road in Croatia. From the top is a wonderful view of the Makarska coast and the surrounding islands. On clear days you can even see Monte Gargano in Italy, located 210 km away. At the very top there is a radio and television transmitter built in 1965 by the Zagreb Television, which is 90 meters high, and the top of the transmitter is the highest point in Croatia at 1,850 meters. On the mountain Sveti Jure, there is also a church of the same name, built in 1968, near the old church that was pulled down due to the construction of the transmitter. Once a year, on the last Saturday of July, a mass is celebrated there.
Biokovo is the second-highest mountain range in Croatia, located along the Dalmatian coast of the Adriatic Sea, between the rivers of Cetina and Neretva and it's 36 km long and 9.5 km wide. Biokovo was established in the Cretaceous period (65 million years ago), during the collision of the African tectonic plate with the European one. Its highest peak is Sveti Jure (Saint George), at 1762 m.a.s.l., the second highest peak in Croatia. It shows a typical karst landscape. From the sea side, Biokovo is characterized by very steep and bare limestone walls, beneath which lies a narrow coastal strip. In 1981, the area of 19,550 ha was protected as the Biokovo Nature Park thanks to the unique values of geomorphological forms, plant and animal species and natural beauty.

Biokovo – masyw górski, położony w środkowej części wybrzeża dalmatyńskiego, o długości 36 km i szerokości 9,5 km. Największy i najwyższy masyw w Dalmacji. Biokovo powstało w kredzie (65 milionów lat temu), podczas zderzenia afrykańskiej płyty tektonicznej z europejską. Jako część Masywu Dynarskiego tworzą go przeważnie eoceńskie pokłady i mezozoiczne skały osadowe.
Inside the tomb of a Mughal emperor JAHANGIR who ruled Indo-Pak subcontinent from the year 1605 - 1627. This tomb was built by Emperor Shahjahan, the son of Jahangir, after the death of his father.
This tomb was built between 1627 - 1637, and is now 376 years old.
The work as shown in this picture is a beautiful aspect of Mughal Architecture. It is carefully preserved, and is in its 100% original form. This unique and remarkable craftsmanship can never be seen in any part of the world.

This evocative image captures a unique perspective of Sydney's world-famous harbor. In the foreground, historic cannons stand sentinel on the ramparts of Fort Denison or a similar historic site. Three figures, possibly tourists, are perched casually among the artillery, gazing out at the breathtaking view before them. The scene is dominated by the unmistakable silhouette of the Sydney Opera House, its sail-like forms unmistakable even at a distance. Beyond, the graceful arch of the Sydney Harbour Bridge spans the water, connecting the city's north and south shores. The late afternoon light casts a soft glow over the harbor, creating a sense of timelessness as the past and present of this vibrant city converge in one frame. This image beautifully juxtaposes Sydney's colonial military history with its modern architectural marvels, all set against the backdrop of one of the world's most stunning natural harbors.

A few days ago we had the extremely rare opportunity to see the Northern Lights in The Netherlands with super strong solar activity. This photo was captured in the North along the coast of Den Oever. I had been wanting to capture the Aurora in my homeland since forever, and I am glad I finally did it!

The most unique feature about this photo is that I managed to capture a panorama without a crane in sight. Downtown Boise construction has been so aggressive over the last decade that the skyline changes monthly. The newest building (still under construction) from this point of view is on the right with the Clearwater logo, which includes a new underground mass transit bus station. The Idaho State Capitol building is tucked away to the right of the Zions Bank tower. There are several buildings under construction behind camera, and several more planned that haven't broken ground yet.
The sky was filled with a smokey haze from distant forest fires, but I believe it actually helped with the exposure.

It's rush hour at Grant Tower in Salt Lake City, Utah • May 6, 2010
Utah Railway's RUT311 local has completed its work at Woods Cross, as it returns to Midvale Yard to tie up for the day.
Meanwhile, a Utah Transit Authority FrontRunner commute has departed Salt Lake Central station for Ogden and points north.
The Utah State Capitol Building, designed in Neoclassical revival, Corinthian style by architect Richard K.A. Kletting, was built on Capitol Hill at the north end of State Street between 1912 and 1916.
