To understand why Jodhpur is known as “the blue city” you should head towards the older quarters of Jodhpur. Here many of the houses are painted blue. The reason behind it is not clear though. Some says those blue houses belongs to the families of brahmins and some others says houses were painted blue by using chemicals including copper sulphate to get rid of termites.
Mehrangarh fort or the "Sun" fort was founded by Rao Jodha in 1459 AD when he shifted his capital from the nearby Mandore,on the advice of a hermit. The imposing fort perches atop a 125 m high hill, above the city and overlooks the rugged and rocky terrain. It is a standing sentinel to the grandeur of the past, invincible and dauntless in its league with time.
Fall colours always amaze me, how all those green leaves take on new colours just before they fall to the ground. I understand the chemical reasons chlorophyll and photosynthesis. But the more natural unscientific explanation is so much more interesting.
the sun was starting to drop in the evening sky creating silver sparkles on the water and throwing the brilliant coloured leaves into shadow and eventual obscurity

There were moments I sank into the snow so deep that the camera hung around my neck touched the surface of the snow. The mood came out of nowhere, wind blew the air with the scent of the sun, the colors smoothed the contours and I've started to understand why travelling alone fosters a desire to sing.
Momentami zapadałem się tak głęboko w śnieg że aparat zawieszony na szyi dotykał powierzchni śniegu. Nastrój przyszedł znikąd, nawiało powietrza o zapachu słońca, kolory wygładziły kontury i zacząłem rozumieć dlaczego samotne wędrówki sprzyjają chęci śpiewania.

Always the nucleic acid sampling for everyone. No one knows as to when this will end. Yet the residents continue to cooperate tamely with the Big Brother's performance.
Since March, the outbreak has been spiralling out of control across China, including Shanghai, sonce the Chinese government refused to approve the US vaccine due to face-saving concerns, forcing the Chinese to only get the ineffective (and potentially harmful) vaccine made in China. This policy has proven to be a complete failure, yet the government persists with it. In Shanghai, neighbourhoods are sealed off in shifts and each resident is ordered to undergo a PCR test in groups of ten or even twenty, called "carpet testing". Although it did nothing to end the epidemic, for the officials, such a huge outpouring of effort and expense was nothing more than a show of hard work, while also taking the opportunity to bring the population under complete control.

God hears what is not spoken and understands what is not explained, for His love doesn't work in the lips or in the mind, but in the heart.
Do you understand how hard it is for someone?
The ability they have to conquer any situation.
To face not only the outside world, but themselves.
The toxicity of their bad habits clinging onto them for dear life.
Pulling and scratching to control,
Fight back with everything they have.
But it’s those days where they are able to win the fight.
The feeling of accomplishment.
Rejoicing in the ambience.
Thankful and grateful.
Now they keep going.
Forward.
It's therefore sad, when someone has to fall in their wake as a sacrifice to their forward motions.
Theirs may not have been the finger on the trigger, but they were behind the barrel of the gun.
Flickr's a funny old world isn't it - the picture I put up yesterday made it into Explore after having 15 comments and 6 faves, but I've had pictures that have got three times that and have never made Explore! The other thing that I don't understand, I don't know if anyone else has this, is that according to Scout I have about a dozen pictures permanently in Explore (some of them have been there for years!) but since they are not getting any views I think Scout has it wrong! Explore is a conundrum I will never understand, lol ;)!
Today's shot was taken from the top of East Hill which is on the Purbeck ridge...........at the end of a long walk of course ;)! The light was beautiful but intense so I thought I'd use the overhanging branches to hold the eye in a bit. It was a gorgeous evening but really windy and chilly.
Press L for large on black as usual.
Thanks for your visit and thanks for your comments and faves!

Street lights, understandably, less so.
Presumably a light on a plane failing will cause an alarm to sound and generate a protocol. I wonder did anyone other than me noticed that that this street light wasn't working. I only noticed because I pointed a camera at it.

Today I missed the direct train home from work and ended up taking a longer route.
None of the following is a complaint. I do, of course, fully understand the need for social distancing measures. I did though want to record how I felt on the journey.
It was a very strange experience: seats taped up ‘out of use’, hardly any passengers at rush hour, lengthy one way systems to navigate. It all felt like landing in a very different country, but with elements of familiarity. It was the most surreal journey I’ve ever made.
The picture was taken at York and shows 802218 with a Newcastle to Liverpool Lime Street service. To be fair, the TPE trains have clear but discrete social distancing signs in the form reservation type labels with a red and cross/green and tick to indicate where to sit.

Almighty God's Word "God Is the Source of Man's Life"
Introduction
Almighty God says, "The greatness and power of the life of God cannot be fathomed by any creature. It is thus now, was thus then, and will be thus in time to come. The second secret I shall impart is this: The source of life comes from God, for all creation, whatever the difference in form or structure. Whatever kind of living being you are, you cannot move counter to the path of life that God has set. In any case, all I wish is for man to understand that without the care, keeping, and provision of God, man cannot receive all that he was meant to receive, no matter how great the effort or struggle. Without the supply of life from God, man loses the sense of value in living and loses the sense of purpose in life."
A lot of photographers seem to eschew vertical photographs for reasons I truly don't understand. I shoot more than average and honestly almost always prefer them over horizontal when placed head to head as is again the case with this location.
Providence and Worcester Valley Falls based local PR-3 is southbound with their 83 car unit ethanol train for Shell (ex Motiva) tank farm at the Port of Providence. The local's two regular GP38-2s 2007 and 2008 (built new by EMD in Nov. and 1980 respectively for the then only seven year newly re-independent road) along with B39-8 3909 (ex LMX 8535 blt. Dec. 1987) are leading the train down Amtrak's #7 Industrial Track between LAWN and ORMS interlockings in this view looking off the Branch Ave overpass.
It's hard to imagine now but everything in this scene was once a massive classification yard. The New Haven built its new Northup Avenue Hump Yard which opened in 1922 extending some two miles in length and 800 feet in width. Originally a rider hump, in 1929 it received 14 modern electro-pneumatic retarders in three groups feeding a 34 track bowl. From a peak of classifying over 1300 cars a day by 1958 traffic had declined to the point that the retarders were removed. Other than P&W using the remains of the old receiving yard to the north the yard is all gone now with much redeveloped and some retained for use as Amtrak's Providence MofW base.
To learn more about the yard and see many historic photos I HIGHLY recommend Edward J. Ozog's fabulous page. The start of his history of this yard can be found here: sites.google.com/site/humpyardprovidence/home and then click each progressive link.

Eva: Dave, I really don't understand why I need to stand on this scale.
Dave: It's quite simple. It's New Years and a common resolution to make is to lose some weight.
Eva: I don't think that one applies to me. I'm perfect.
Dave: Really? You don't think that you put on a bit of weight last year?
Eva: I did indeed. But, it was all part of the plan. Part of my fitness goals.
Dave: Really? Very few would consider gaining weight as a good fitness goal.
Eva: Well, very few are as brilliant as me. See, I put on a little extra around the middle then you guys take me for more walks. Since we've been doing longer walks all of the weight is gone. So, more weight equals more walks and more fitness. A perfect plan!
Dave: Then why will you only stand on the scale with two paws.
Eva: You humans only do it with two feet. I'm just following the instructions.
Dave: Really?
Eva: That and I don't want to give you an accurate baseline weight. If you had an accurate baseline weight the need for long walks might disappear.
----------
Eva did put on a few pounds last year, but since longer more frequent walks have been initiated she's looking great.
Eva really is glad to be back in the 52 weeks spotlight. She was hesitant to get on the scale at first, but some motivational Cheerios really did help. Which may have been all part of her plan too.

Someday it's gonna happen. This is photoshop at work. both photos were taken a few minutes apart, only the bears where just over the ridge on Stony Hill, so the mountain was just out of view.
I keep waiting and trying, but them bears just don't seem to understand composition.
When she looks at me like this, I understand a tiny bit of what it must be like to have children. The love, the trust, the joy, the need... she relies on us entirely. And... for a very long time... I thought I couldn't handle the weight of that kind of responsibility.
When I was single, I fed stray cats. And fell all over random cats I met on the street. But I never had my own; too much commitment.
Then I met Mike. And he had (as he charmingly confessed over our first lunch) "two cats from a previous relationship." I fell hard - really hard - for them, and soon I could not imagine a household without "fur children." Then we got a dog, a crazy German shepherd who... if she'd been a car, would've been a cross between a Hummer and a high-performance racing machine. More big love there. And then, of course, loss. First cat #1, then cat #2, and then the German shepherd all died.
They were all tough losses. All ripped our hearts out. I still cry over all three of them from time to time. But time goes on, and so do we, and now we have Neptune (adopted from a shelter at the dignified age of 10) and this here sweetie-pie... Echo... who's constantly amazing and astounding me.
Rather than blather on about how great she is, I think I'll just dedicate this pic to Vakas... who seems to be a little overwhelmed by despair. I know how that feels. I've been there. And I know it's tough to get through that veil... which is more like an iron burka or something. But... please, Vakas, know that... yes, things can get better. And no, we can't save the world by ourselves, but we can do small things to make our own worlds better. If you've given up on people, please consider opening yourself to the innocent, pure love of critters. However you do it, I hope you find some peace.

A very sad looking AN68 Atlantean, number 468 at Lathalmond and although some restoration work has been done I understand she has already gone to the scrapyard.
This is rather unfortunate as 465, bought by the Tyne and Wear Bus Preservation, has also been used for spare parts.
A sad ending then for another great work horse in Edinburgh, from the mid 1970's to 1992. I can remember when this fleet group was new just shortly after I left school.
Now you will perhaps understand why I dont miss the Sandal procession of Fakhruddin Shah Baba every year.
And it is the first time this sandal I decided only to shoot the Chancawalli Rafaees, normally I shoot other guys doing sword stuff , I gave it a total skip...
But I am not greedy for pictures as a poet I learnt when to end my poem and when to stop shooting as a photographer ..
And I believe if a picture is destined to be shot by me there is no escape for that moment it will reach the internet come what may.
And soon in a few days all this will stop on my photo stream at Flickr, no more fun , no more frolic as a Shia I will go back to my roots , my dress code will become black, no whites no greys..
Minimal jewellery and totlly devoid of it durng Ashra and Chehlum, no more kaif just cutting my head and doing the Tandav on the soul of Shimr and Yazid.
What is Muharram ?
January 11, 2008 — moralsandethics
What is Muharram?
Muharram (Arabic: محرم) It is the first month of the Islamic calendar. Instead of joyous celebration, Muslims mark the beginning of the New Year by taking up the black attire of sorrow and participate in mourning gatherings in which the sacrifices of Husayn and his companions are commemorated. It is one of the four months of the year in which fighting is prohibited. Since the Islamic calendar is lunar, Muharram moves from year to year when compared with the Gregorian calendar.
Muharram is so called because it was unlawful to fight during this month; the word is derived from the word ‘haram’ meaning forbidden. It is held to be the most sacred of all the months, excluding Ramadan. It is the same month when Husayn, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, was brutally massacred in Karbala alongside his family and friends in the year 680 CE/61 AH.
Their martyrdom is a sad day for all Muslims, especially the Shi’a, who hold mourning ceremonies to recall the righteous virtues for which the valiant martyrs stood and the grave calamities that they thus had to bear. The commemoration of this brutal massacre (Battle of Karbala) begins on the first day of Muharram and reaches its climax on the 10th of Muharram, the day of the battle, known as Ashurah and continues for 40 days or 69 days.
What is Ashura ?
Ashura (عاشوراء transliteration: ‘Āshūrā’, Ashura, Ashoura, and other spellings) It is on the 10th day of Muharram in the Islamic calendar and marks the climax of the Remembrance of Muharram but not the Islamic month. It is also called Yaumu-l ‘Ashurah, or simply Ashura meaning, ‘the tenth day’.
It is well-known because of historical significance and mourning for the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of the Islamic prophet Muhammad at the Battle of Karbala in the year 61 AH (AD 680). It is a day of speeches, public processions, and great grief. Men and women chant and weep, mourning Husayn, his family, and his followers. Speeches emphasize the importance of the values for which Husayn sacrificed himself, his family, and his followers. For centuries Shi’a pilgrims flocked here during Muharram, a practice which was severely limited under the regime of Saddam Hussein
What is Karbala ?
Karbala (Arabic: كربلاء; BGN: Al-Karbalā’; also spelled Karbala al-Muqaddasah) is a city in Iraq, located about 100 km (60 mi) southwest of Baghdad at 32.61°N, 44.08°E.
In the time of Husayn ibn Ali’s life, the place was also known as al-Ghadiriyah, Naynawa, and Shathi’ul-Furaat.The city’s association with Shīˤa Islām have made it a centre of religious instruction as well as worship; it has more than 100 mosques and 23 religious schools, of which possibly the most famous is that of Ibn Fahid, constructed some 440 years ago.
Karbala’s prominence in Shīˤī is the result of the Battle of Karbala, fought on the site of the modern city on October 10, 680.Both Husayn and his half-brother ˤAbbās ibn ˤAlī were buried by the local Banī Asad tribe at what later became known as the Mashhad Al-Husayn. Later on city grew up around the tombs. Husayn’s tomb (View Larger Map) is a place of pilgrimage for many Shīˤa Muslims, especially on the anniversary of the battle, the Day of Āshūrā.

The ancient basilica of the Virgen de la Peña stands in the Spanish town of Graus (Ribagorza, province of Huesca, Aragon). The current temple was built in the mid-16th century on a previous Romanesque building. It consists of a church, patio and pilgrim hospital with a beautiful cloister-viewpoint.
We suggest visitors begin their visit from inside the church. There are remains of the Romanesque building, specifically in the lower part of the gospel wall, where there is a small high door and smaller ashlars. The current building has a single nave with two sections, covered with triplet vaults (the one at the foot was originally star-shaped) and a flat head on which rises a polygonal tower topped with a spire. The chamfering of the angles of the feet of the nave is striking.
The entrance door has a semicircular arch and abundant decoration: (candelieri, coffers, angels, shields and garlands) and is framed by columns joined by an entablature. In front of it, the porch imitates its Corinthian forms. On its frieze there is the signature of Joan Tellet in two cartouches along with a small corbel that draws the observer's attention. There is also the door to the chapel of San Juan de Letrán and a staircase that connects the portico with the patio. The corner of the church makes us understand the interior chamfering, since if this solution had not been adopted the exterior buttresses would occupy the site of this staircase.
The hospital archway opens to the patio. There we see how the structure of this building supports that of the church. Another archway on twisted columns offers us a splendid view of Graus and the confluence of the Ésera and Isábena rivers. As we leave, going down the ramp, we will see the other corner of the church and once again we understand the interior chamfering of the nave, since another exterior buttress would have prevented the access path to the complex.
From the outside, differences are observed in the two sections of the church:
The first phase of the works articulates its panels with moldings and buttresses
the second, a work by Tellet, which presents smooth panels and corners.
In the hospital as a whole there are also two phases:
a modest four-story building (leaning on the church and on the entrance to the complex) was surely the first to be built and was to serve as the residence of the clergy.
a much more ambitious extension, with three floors: the first, with the archway of semicircular arches that shelters the access ramp; the second, with the viewpoint of twisted columns; and the last one, made of brick and completely rebuilt, where there were rooms used as a pilgrim hospital and where a museum of icons is currently located.

On 29 March, it was rumoured that the PCR screening results in Pudong, Shanghai were so horrific that Puxi would be closed for control one after another earlier than the original date of 1 April. This caused a rush to buy.
I don't understand. I can't get a grasp. All I know is that there's some kind of turbulence in my mind and in my heart.

“Difficult times have helped me to understand better than before, how infinitely rich and beautiful life is in every way, and that so many things that one goes worrying about are of no importance whatsoever...” - Isak Dinesen.
why this quote? i felt that this wall and wood ballet gone through difficult times withstanding these weights and all the dust and all that, still standing and holding theirselves together. Yet, they look peaceful and beautiful. Things go in a different way inside my head, i already know that :p so thanks anyways!

This shell fish is called "percebes" in portuguese. This word is as well the conjugation on the 2º person of the singular of the verb "perceber" indicatif mode, to understand, in english (you understand). It's very popular, cheap and has an exotic taste. We all make jokes about the name or the verb. An example is when a friend asks you if you understand and you reply something like "no thanks I prefer prawns or lobster".
Don't ask me to explain ~ most probably wouldn't understand . . . it's just that these blowing flowers shot at dusk with the headlight of another car zipping behind them just reminded me of our fun times in 2001 when we temporarily relocated to Berkeley and the San Francisco Bay area.
Maybe these daisies are just a perfect icon for what it feels like to hang on to a rail and go tooling up hills on those great little cable cars.
Racing all over the state of California, we got to see such wonderful sites. These colors were kind of 1960s-style, as in: "If You're Going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair . . . " Thank you, Scott McKenzie.
We saw Scott McKenzie singing live in 2003; white pony tail and all, he was just as mellow all these years later as one would hope he would be. Sweet musical memories.
This is just a fun photo for me to share with you.
This fellow did a wonderful job on this youtube piece. Enjoy it!
"If You're Going to San Francisco" . . .
(I wonder what she said....)
She said she said - The Beatles.
She said "I know what it's like to be dead.
I know what it is to be sad"
And she's making me feel like I've never been born.
I said "Who put all those things in your head?
Things that make me feel that I'm mad
And you're making me feel like I've never been born."
She said "you don't understand what I said"
I said "No, no, no, you're wrong"
When I was a boy everything was right
Everything was right
I said "Even though you know what you know
I know that I'm ready to leave
'Cause you're making me feel like I've never been born."
She said "you don't understand what I said"
I said "No, no, no, you're wrong"
When I was a boy everything was right
Everything was right
I said "Even though you know what you know
I know that I'm ready to leave
'Cause you're making me feel like I've never been born."
She said , she said "I know what it's like to be dead"
("I know what it's like to be dead")
I know what it is to be sad...
(gracias Fede)
Take my hand, and you'll understand what it means to truly shine...

✦ Every devil needs a good pair of wings. Be they webbed, boney, wispy or feathered, they are a crucial part of any infernal design! For the purposes of our ethereal boy here, I knew I needed to showcase Aii's Amorous Demon Wings! They're a wonderful combination of angelic feathers and demonic leather makes for a beautiful hybrid appearance; and thanks to Aii's extensive customization HUD, I was able to give the feathers the appearance of something that's almost stained glass-like! As always, the animations for these wings are so fluid and graceful, and they even come with a set of static poses, if you want to take pictures with them!

☆Featured Y1#SL Releases☆
✦ As a monster and hybrid enthusiast, BoM overlays are my bread and butter! Be it feathers, fur, or scales, I'm 100% here for them. And let me tell you, the Abadd set from Y!3SL is easily one of the most beautiful scale overlays that I've come across in Second Life. Yara really has gone above and beyond with the quality of the textures. They're crisp, rich and look good even without body materials (though you absolutely should take advantage of the materials included with the mod)!
Get keep an eye out for the Abadd Body Scales and Horns' release on the Y!3SL marketplace, ☆HERE☆
It took me too long to understand that no matter how much I explain my side, some people will twist it to fit their narrative. I used to pour my heart out, desperately hoping they’d see the truth, but I’ve learned the hard way—if someone truly wanted to understand, they wouldn’t make me beg for it.
If you’ve already decided I’m the villain in your story, fine. I’m not going to keep bending over backwards trying to prove I’m good enough, worthy enough, or innocent enough. The truth is, the more I explain, the more power I give to someone who doesn’t want to hear it.
Let them believe what they want.
Let them say it was all my fault.
Let them stay stuck in their version of events.
LET. THEM.
I won’t defend myself anymore. Because I’ve realized something crucial—explaining myself over and over doesn’t bring peace. It only exhausts me. It only reinforces their narrative, because if they really cared to understand, they would’ve listened the first time.
I’m reclaiming my energy. I’m walking away from the endless loop of justification and debate. I deserve connections where I don’t have to fight for my truth to be seen.
If my silence makes you uncomfortable, then be uncomfortable.
If my choice not to explain feels like defeat to you, that’s on you.
I’m no longer concerned with trying to win a battle I never agreed to fight.
I’m done begging to be understood.
I’m done begging for kindness, respect, and empathy that should’ve been given freely.
I’m done putting myself on trial in a court that was never fair to begin with.
I'M. DONE.
The only explanation I owe is to myself: that I choose peace over their noise.
I choose to move on without the weight of constantly trying to be heard by people who are committed to misunderstanding me.
Let them think what they want.
LET. THEM. GO.
I will not explain myself again.
Because, honestly, I don’t need to.

16th February 2013: Why must we understand everything in life, or that which happens to us. I think I must simply let go without thought of ever understand. But understanding comes just the same with time...xx

Yes I understand, that every life must end, uh-huh
As we sit alone, I know someday we must go, uh-huh
Oh I’m a lucky man to count on both hands the ones I love
Some folks just have one, yeah, others, they’ve got none uh-huh
Stay with me ohh
Let’s just breathe...
Did I say that I need you?
Did I say that I want you?
Oh if I didn’t I’m a fool you see
No one knows this more than me...
