Why I always get the beach to myself on great days? Maybe cos is stormy, wet, dreich, raining, cold and in general a fine Highland summers day perhaps.
If you understand the title of this photo, you're old. :-)
I took this photo in the park which has become my weekly "get out of the condo destination" during the pandemic. It has always been a favourite place to go with my camera and now is a good place which allows for nice walks with appropriate physical distancing from other people.
This bird was fairly near the bench I was sitting at, I've never seen a bird like it in this park. I immediately thought it was a chukar (aka chukar partridge) which, although not common are found in the region. Several people stopped on their walks to chat about the bird, all saying that they too had never seen one like it here before and a couple of them expressed the opinion that it was a chukar. Then one guy said the colour seemed a bit wrong for a chukar and I'd been thinking that too so when I got home I did some googling and have decided it is probably a rock partridge which, as it turns out, is very closely related to the chukar.

Those who understand Astronomy say that we owe many things to the Moon, including that life continues to exist.
There is no other planet in our solar system that has a satellite proportionally as large as the Moon with respect to the Earth, hence things happen to us that cannot happen on other planets.
It was quite a challenge, photographing the Moon on the 11th day of its first quarter, through a subtle layer of clouds and not losing much of its detail.
Photo taken from a pedestrian walkway on the M-503 highway as it passes through Pozuelo de Alarcón, Madrid, Spain.

I understand now, the legend of the succubus
And from whence it came
Being broken hearted, alone, and jaded
Can make a night stalking lunatic, of any dame
My heart has been stolen,
I'll never be the same
So now I wander the night,
With the "succubus" name
I'll slip into your dreams,
Make any man my prey
A female demon of the night,
Its the truth, what they say
A nocturnal dream,
I'll dance in your head
And when the sun shines,
I'll hide under your bed
I cannot love you,
As I have no heart
My heart was broken,
So now I roam the dark
We succubi, hide in the shadows,
Watching our game
We are all heartless creatures,
We feel no shame
Yes, I understand now the legend of the succubus,
And from whence it came
As my heart is gone
Now "succubus" is my name

MJ Cole & Freya Ridings ... Waking Up
I love you with open eyes
I need you not to understand
I'm trying it's the only way
I told you I can not be saved
I'm waking up
I can see it all
I'm waking up
Can I breath in the love from you?
'Cause I know that you want me too
Let me breath
Let me breath
You know me
You know what I've done
You told me, sleep beautiful one
When only the moonlight shone
It hold me 'till my heart was numb
I'm waking up
I can feel it all
I'm waking up
I can breath, I can love for you?
But I know that you want me too
I feel it burn
I feel it burn
It's in the air in you to love me like you do?
It's in the air in me, to stay asleep
It's in the air in you to love me like you do?
It's in the air of me, today I see
I can see it all, I'm waking up
Can I breath in the love from you?
But I know you want me to
And I know you want me to
Before knowing the weather condition of the Himalayan region we should understand its geography. The Himalayan region covers an area of 2,250 km with an average width of 200 km.
The forest belt of the Himalayan region consists of Oak, Rhododendron, Birch, Pine, Deodar, and Fir. And the monsoon season in this region lasts for mid June till the end of September. The Himalayas influences the meteorological conditions in the Indian subcontinent to the south and in the Central Asian highlands to the north to a great extent. It acts a climatic divider circulating the air and water system to a great extent. Because of its altitude and location it blocks the passage of the cold winds coming from the north to the Indian sub continent thereby making India's climate much more moderate. It also influences the rainfall pattern in India. The combined effect of rainfall, latitude and altitude largely influences the forests belts in the Himalayan region. The rainfall is mostly recorded during the monsoon time of June to September but it decreases as you travel from east to west. The snow-capped ranges of the Himalayas stretch 2, 250 km from the Namcha Barwa to Nanga Parbat on the Indus. The range extends from east to west up to central-Nepal and then takes a southeast to northwest direction.

You will understand why when you know my story : I am a Yellow Butterfly of the genus Eurema.
I thought I bore the same name as one of my cousins, who visited this garden a few days ago, called Small Grass-Yellow (Eurema smilax) but I am now told that my name is NO-BRAND Grass-Yellow (Eurema brigitta) ! Can you imagine that, being called NO-BRAND, like any common grocery item in a supermarket ??

If other people do not understand our behavior—so what? Their request that we must only do what they understand is an attempt to dictate to us. If this is being "asocial" or "irrational" in their eyes, so be it. Mostly they resent our freedom and our courage to be ourselves. We owe nobody an explanation or an accounting, as long as our acts do not hurt or infringe on them. How many lives have been ruined by this need to "explain," which usually implies that the explanation be "understood," i.e. approved. Let your deeds be judged, and from your deeds, your real intentions, but know that a free person owes an explanation only to himself—to his reason and his conscience—and to the few who may have a justified claim for explanation.

The dragonfly
It's easy to be fascinated by dragonflies. They were among the very first winged insects to evolve over 300 million years ago! Dragonflies belong to the order Odonata, characterized by large multifaceted eyes, two pairs of strong, transparent wings, and an elongated body. Dragonflies are similar to damselflies, but adults hold their wings away from, and perpendicular to the body when at rest. Their two sets of wings work independently, allowing dragonflies to maneuver through the air effortlessly. Their huge eyes give them incredible vision in almost every directions except directly behind them.
Many people ask, "What do dragonflies eat?" As adults, dragonflies eat other insects and can consume hundreds of mosquitoes in one day! typically eat mosquitoes and other small insects. They are valued as predators, since they help control populations of harmful insects. Dragonflies are usually found around lakes, ponds, streams and wetlands because their larvae, known as "nymphs", are aquatic. Adult dragonflies do not bite or sting humans, though nymphs are capable of delivering a painful but harmless bite.
"(Well, this type of photography was never my point of interest but it certainly is interesting, when you try to see everything that happens around you.
Here I will leave you in some photos of these experiments, I hope you like it.)" ☺

Understand, I'll slip quietly
away from the noisy crowd
when I see the pale
stars rising, blooming, over the oaks
I'll pursue solitary pathways
through the pale twilit meadows,
with only this one dream :
You come too.

After I dropped Jackie off at her dorm this afternoon, I decided to drive down to the lake since I was already downtown. I had heard that the winds would be gusting up to 55 MPH today ... but I was not prepared for the sight that met me down on the lake! The normal walking path for this scene is on the other side of this fence! I had to scramble to this side due to the "force of nature!"
In my experience; this just isn't normal for Lake Michigan! Operative word being that this is a 'lake!' But I had a strong feeling there would be some action on the lakefront because when I was cruising down Lake Shore Drive; the waves were crashing over the road!!
Pearl Jam — Force of Nature I so LOVE ♥ this song ... and I've been listening to it on 'repeat' since I got home!
Happy Slider Sunday! -- Slidin' in a bit late this Sunday Eve! As a side note for those that care; the Chicago Bears are gettin' whooped in this weather! About 9 miles south of where I was standing at this exact moment!! :D

"..."I cannot understand why the Spring is so late in coming," said the
Selfish Giant, as he sat at the window and looked out at his cold
white garden; "I hope there will be a change in the weather."
But the Spring never came, nor the Summer. The Autumn gave golden
fruit to every garden, but to the Giant's garden she gave none.
"He is too selfish," she said. So it was always Winter there, and
the North Wind, and the Hail, and the Frost, and the Snow danced
about through the trees.
One morning the Giant was lying awake in bed when he heard some
lovely music. It sounded so sweet to his ears that he thought it
must be the King's musicians passing by. It was really only a
little linnet singing outside his window, but it was so long since
he had heard a bird sing in his garden that it seemed to him to be
the most beautiful music in the world. Then the Hail stopped
dancing over his head, and the North Wind ceased roaring, and a
delicious perfume came to him through the open casement. "I
believe the Spring has come at last," said the Giant; and he jumped
out of bed and looked out.
What did he see?"

Until we understand what the land is, we are at odds with everything we touch. And to come to that understanding it is necessary, even now, to leave the regions of our conquest - the cleared fields, the towns and cities, the highways - and re-enter the woods. For only there can a man encounter the silence and the darkness of his own absence. Only in this silence and darkness can he recover the sense of the world's longevity, of its ability to thrive without him, of his inferiority to it and his dependence on it. Perhaps then, having heard that silence and seen that darkness, he will grow humble before the place and begin to take it in - to learn from it what it is. As its sounds come into his hearing, and its lights and colors come into his vision, and its odors come into his nostrils, then he may come into its presence as he never has before, and he will arrive in his place and will want to remain. His life will grow out of the ground like the other lives of the place, and take its place among them. He will be with them - neither ignorant of them, nor indifferent to them, nor against them - and so at last he will grow to be native-born. That is, he must reenter the silence and the darkness, and be born again.
― Wendell Berry
