As we walked out into King Gillette it followed closely behind (no fear of humans it seemed). I can understand the temptation people had to feed this little one, but it may well have done serious harm. I tried to correct the problem - - - - -
So you can better understand what you see here: The stem of the longest specimen of this group of trumpet-like structures is about 1.5 cm long. I found them in the forest on a moss-covered tree trunk.
But what is this? Are these aliens about to take over the world? Or are they the musical instruments the forest uses to produce its characteristic wind sounds?
The world beyond our own "normal" perspective holds many surprises. Things so small that you only see them if you actively look for them, and which then leave us amazed.
This, by the way, which is a completely terrestrial pebbled pixie-cup, is one of them.
Damit Ihr das, was Ihr hier seht besser einordnen könnt. Der Stiel des längsten Exemplars dieser Gruppe posaunenen-artiger Gebilde ist ca. 1,5 cm lang. Gefunden habe ich sie im Wald an einem mit Moos bedeckten Baumstamm.
Doch was ist das ? Sind das etwas Aliens, die beginnen die Welt zu übernehmen ? Oder sind das die Musikinstrumente, mit denen der Wald seine typischen Windgeräusche produziert ?
Die Welt außerhalb unserer eigenen "normalen" Pespektive hält viele Überraschungen bereit. Dinge, die so klein sind, dass man sie nur zu Gesicht bekommt, wenn man aktiv danach sucht und die uns dann erstaunt zurück lassen.
Das hier, bei dem es sich übrigens um eine völlig irdische Becherflechte handelt, ist eins davon.
Yesterday I was in Lozerheide again and I wanted to see if I could find Pseudachorutes sp. again. Unfortunately they have done "management works" which I don't quite understand because everything has been excavated at the place where I found the Pseudachorutes sp. before, springtails gone... 😢
The most beautiful quiet place I always went to is now an arid plain...
I hope they don't destroy the home of Lepidocyrtus paradoxus too.

Oh! Poor Lucky! She doesn’t seem to understand as she mewls piteously after it, that birds generally don’t like to play with cats, and that usually when cats do play with birds, the bird ends up worse off for it. Never mind sweet Lucky, I think it’s time for something to eat, and I know that you never so say no to a decent meal. This is Lucky. She is a very demanding black cat, and she is always mewing for something… loudly! However, I love her so much that with a face like hers, I can refuse her nothing!
The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" for the 24th of May is "cats in black & white". Luckily, this includes felines of the non-real variety, as I have no real animal pets of my own, which is too long and painful a story to go into as to why. I have always loved black cats, and when the theme was announced, Lucky was my immediate thought. Lucky is the lucky Royal Doulton black cat with a white face. She was designed by Charles Noke and was issued between 1932 and 1975. My Lucky is from the pre-war 1932 – 1936 period looking at her green backstamp. I have photographed her against a piece of art paper featuring a print of birds either in a cage or flying free. I have opted for the latter, which I think works quite nicely, and adds a bit of interest to my storytelling shot. I hope that you like my choice for this week’s theme, and that it makes you smile!
Royal Doulton is an English ceramic manufacturing company dating from 1815. Operating originally in Vauxhall, London, later moving to Lambeth, in 1882 it opened a factory in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, in the centre of English pottery. From the start the backbone of the business was a wide range of utilitarian wares, mostly stonewares including storage jars, tankards and the like, and later extending to pipes for drains, lavatories and other bathroom ceramics. From 1853 to 1902 its wares were marked Doulton & Co., then from 1902, when a royal warrant was given, Royal Doulton. It always made some more decorative wares, initially still mostly stoneware, and from the 1860s the firm made considerable efforts to get a reputation for design, in which it was largely successful, as one of the first British makers of art pottery. Initially this was done through artistic stonewares made in Lambeth, but in 1882 the firm bought a Burslem factory, which was mainly intended for making bone china tablewares and decorative items. It was a latecomer in this market compared to firms such as Royal Crown Derby, Royal Worcester, Wedgwood, Spode and Mintons, but made a place for itself in the later 19th century. Today Royal Doulton mainly produces tableware and figurines, but also cookware, glassware, and other home accessories such as linens, curtains and lighting. Three of its brands were Royal Doulton, Royal Albert and (after a post-WWII merger) Mintons. Royal Doulton is one of the last great British bone china manufacturers still in existence.

What does it take to understand that guns kill? Why do we insist upon having guns? Can we think, instead of being governed by fear?
Violence only adds to more violence. Start with eliminating poverty and creating more equality thereby eliminating squalor, indignity, hunger, death and desperation. Try a little love, it goes a long way and does not create violence! History repeats itself, violence has never been and never will be the solution, helping one another in a peaceful way does make a difference, the damage has been done, so it won't be easy but it is better than violence.

(I understand) I know what it's like to be misunderstood for being a free thinker but I have no idea what it would be like to be judged by the color of my skin, I can only imagine the frustration, can't help but wonder if God made the whole world B&W would we still be as judgemental?.... I don´t understand this
Nature teaches so many profound lessons in such a way that even the youngest child can understand! We are all part of a family -- and how wonderful that is!!! But, how equally wonderful that each and every one of us has unique talents, abilities, likes, passions, insights, and individuality. We can all learn from each other and collectively we can create amazing beauty!!!!

What I shared with my brother deacons today...
As a deacon, I go to church to serve my community. I understand that the Church is divided into two camps, which is to easily done with cheap labels such as conservative and liberal. My faith helps me to rise above these cheap labels and see all as the children of God. I’m tired of the cheap judgements that each side conveniently casts on the “other.” I serve both sides...I leave my petty judgements to God where it belongs.
At church, it is no longer “I” but “HE” that serves in me. I wish it was the same in this Facebook deacon group.

Frankly, I do not understand the hype about this man. Self-indulgent, bored with himself, delivering so-so performance. I seen him first time and last time. Would not recognize his music. Asked for 'shades' (it was dark), removed them in the middle of the same song. That alone told me who this guy is. I do not normally write anything bad about any musician, but this was not a good show. Glasper must have somehow get to, where he is now, but I did not see anything inspiring in this performance. Using recorded music, (of other artists), in live performance...wtf? Bringing his 4 year old girl on the stage, just deepen my feelings expressed above. And there was one song which basically told me what he is all about: ♫“Fuck yo feelings”♫. I left right after that one......
