Ubuntu 9.04 with Conky. Got the wallpaper from deviant art. The Conky is just a basic one I got off the ubuntu forums. I didn't use any special themes, just fooled about with the window and panel colors under appearance and panel properties.

i recently installed ubuntu karmic (which, AAMOF was easy and painless) and found the "science department" in the ubuntu software center. i'm just starting to discover some of its goodies but it seems to be an interesting repertoire of software tools for amateur and professional scientists.
