Its name describes in an onomatopoeic way the feeling one gets upon installing and using this wonderful OS after a lifetime of Microsoft OS. I toyed with Linux in the late 90's but became consumed by University studies at the time, and reverted to 'easy' old Windows 95. Having spent the entire previous evening reinstalling Windows XP, not including all the software, it was refreshing to spend just a couple of hours tonight adding this. My first impressions are very good - hassle free automated install, very usable straight away. Why should I ever use Windows again? Windows Vista Ultimate = $400, ubuntu = $0. Hmm. Tricky one.
How bad can an OS be when it will multitask its own installation with games?! I was particularly impressed that on hotplugging my digital camera, the system recognised it with no input from me and offered to import directly into Picasa after downloading. Superb.
So my new Shuttle XPC now has triple-boot capability: Windows XP,Windows Vista RC1 and Ubuntu. Neat, eh?
New in: de Ubuntu Parasol! Een vrolijke rode parasol, met een 's zomers printje. Hij komt samen met een bijpassende opbergtas. Leuk voor op het strand, in de tuin of op het balkon.

Here's my latest, and final screenshot because I'm happy with the results!
This is Ubuntu 8.04.
1. Only one panel active with minimal items.
2. Avant Window Navigator 0.2.1 for the dock. (Yeah, I love the OS X dock. :))
3. Clearlooks theme (it's built-in but has more support for hi-res dock icons).
4. Visua Effects set to Extra.
Again, this is all on a Galaxy Black Eee PC 701 with 4GB SSHD and 2GB RAM. (that icon above is for my external 4GB Sony Memory Stick).
My good ol' Moleskine Pocket Squared, with a Ubuntu sticker (since last week) and my new acquisition as a pen: Inoxcrom Short Rollergel. Just below 11cm (with its cap on), it's a good and ubiquitous companion to the Pocket Notebook and to the forthcoming 18-Month Pocket Planner.
Clare on Planet GNOME pointed to a Red Hat Hello Kitty and said there should be an Ubuntu Hello Kitty. Well here it is.
All of the previous ubuntu release mascots in stuffed animal form.
Each animal was created individually and in color, and then all of them were compiled into one piece.

Digital illustration featuring in Ubuntu 11.04
According to the design brief of Ubuntu Team for digital illustrations, I wanted to emphasize those points :
-Uncluttered
-Unworried
And simply also bring a peaceful atmosphere ;)

UBUNTU: "I am because we are"
Through Fairtrade, sugar cane farmers in Malawi and Zambia receive a better deal and a social premium to invest in social, economic & environmental projects. Plus, we will return one third of our profits into those communities through our Ubuntu Africa program.
The can has a brown and gold theme like the distro, but is unconnected.
This is one of the Ubuntu-be Tshirts that arrived earlier today. They look super cool! and fit really comfy! Even better: they are green and 100% Fairtrade!
