Here we are looking over Harrison Lake which is a small community at the Southern end of Harrison Lake where Harrison River flows inwards in the Fraser valley of British Columbia in Canada. Known for it's hot springs, it has a population of around fifteen hundred people and was named after Benjamin Harrison, who formerly worked as Deputy governor for the Hudson's Bay Company.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Fifty three metres at 09:33am on a beautiful summer morning on Thursday 3rd June 2021, off Chessington Avenue in Bexleyheath, Kent.

Here we see an adult European starling (Sturnus vulgaris) proudly prancing around the garden with a feather that it flew off with, presumably to help line a newly crafted nest. Also known as the common starling or simply starling, these are medium sized passerines known for being loud and up for a squabble in British gardens. With a lifespan of two to three years, they are omnivores measuring up to nine inches in length and a wingspan of up to seventeen inches. They are common to Europe, India and North Africa and possess the ability mimic other bird songs, noises and even human speech. They can also have an individual repertoire of more than thirty variable song types and fourteen clicks.

Sadly, despite a UK breeding population in excess of 1.8 Million, their demise in other areas sees them currently on the red list for UK conservation status.

**** This frame was chosen on March 31st 2018 to appear on FLICKR EXPLORE (Highest Ranking: #99. This is my 98th photograph to be selected, which for me is both amazing and exciting, as I never view my images as worthy compared to some of the awesome photography out there. EXPLORE is Flickr's way of showcasing the most interesting photos within a given point in time -- usually over a 24 hour period.

Flickr receives about 6,000 uploads every minute -- That's about 8.6 million photos a day! From this huge group of images, the Flickr Interestingness algorithm chooses only 500 images to showcase for each 24-hour period. That's only one image in every 17,000!..... so I am really thrilled to have a frame picked and most grateful to every one of the 17.950 Million people who have visited, favourite and commented on this and all of my other photographs here on my FLICKR site. *****

A day of torrential rain, hour after hour, and fleeting moments when people could stretch their legs, let off steam, enjoy the Bank Holiday as the tide chased the horizon. I loved the bright sunlight through the cloud as it glistened on the sandy shoreline, and just as I lined up a shot, a family started running across my line of sight, first the Father and daughter. Perfect.

Here we look over towards Loch Loyne, in the Northwest highlands of Scotland.

Loch Loyne originally had two stone bridges, but when the Loch was dammed in the 1950's as part of a Hydro-electric scheme, new sections of the A87 were laid and remains of the bridges are only visible when the water levels are low.

This photograph of a Golden Eagle (Aquila Chrysaetos), was taken at 13:07pm on Tuesday 24th May 2016 on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.

The Golden Eagle is the most widely distributed species of Eagle, and large specimens have been recorded with a wingspan in excess of Eight feet and males weighing fourteen pounds. They have been know to maintain home territories of up to 200 kilometres and can dive at speeds of two hundred Miles per hour.

This photograph was taken an altitude of Six hundred and ninety six metres, at 10:19am on Monday May 9th 2016 on John Hart Highway 97 past Bear Lake at Crooked River in Northern British Columbia, Canada.

This is a young female 'cow' Moose (Alces Alces), and is the largest extant species of the Deer family, with a global population of between half a million and a million. Moose can stand up to seven feet at the shoulder with large males reaching nine feet including antlers, and bulls can weigh up to 700kg.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Seventeen metres, at 12:16pm on Thursday September 9th 2017 off Reculver Lane on the Viking Coastal trail of the ruins of Reculver Abbey, about three miles east of Herne Bay in south-east England, in a ward of the same name, in the City of Canterbury, district of Kent.

An Anglo-Saxon monastery founded in around AD 669, when Egbert, King of Kent, granted Reculver to Bassa for the foundation of a minster church, the church was built near the centre of the earlier Roman fort of Regulbium. The site had ceased to function as a monastery by AD 949 and became St Mary's, the parish church of Reculver. It is now An English Heritage site.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Sixteen metres, at 19:46pm on Monday 6th September 2019 off Esplanade Avenue above the beach at Harrison Lake in the village of Harrison Hot springs.

In the distance to the far right we see Mount Breakenridge situated in the Lilloet ranges of Southwestern British Columbia. The mountain stands 2,395 metres tall, and takes it's name from Sapper Archibald T. Breakenridge, making a reconnaissance survey in 1859

Harrison is a small community at the Southern end of Harrison Lake where Harrison River flows inwards in the Fraser valley of British Columbia in Canada. Known for it's hot springs, it has a population of around fifteen hundred people and was named after Benjamin Harrison, who formerly worked as Deputy governor for the Hudson's Bay Company.

This photograph was taken at 16:07pm on Dunday 15th May 2016 off Stewart-Cassiar Highway 37 on the shoreline of Dease Lake, a small largely First Nations community in the Cassiar Country of Northern Interior of British Columbia, Canada.

Here on the shoreline, around fifty per cent of the houses have fallen into disrepair or are completely abandoned, nestled amongst those which are still used.

Patricia Bay is a body of salt water that extends East from the Saanich Inlet and forms part of the North Saanich shoreline in British Columbia. The bay was named after Princess Patricia of Connaught, daughter of the Duke of Connaught who was Governor General in 1912.

This photograph was taken at an altitude of Seven hundred and sixty six metres, at 13:19pm on Monday 9th May 2016 in the Pine Pass off John Hart Highway 97, beside Bijoux Falls in the Bijoux Falls Provincial Park, British Columbia, Canada.

The park is free to use and found on the Southern approach to the summit from the town of Mackenzie.

The Steller's Jay (Cyanocitta Stelleri), is an Omnivore Native to North America and related to the Blue Jay. It's diet can include snakes and lizards, the eggs of other birds, as well as seeds and berries. With such a varied diet, it is no wonder that this beautiful little bird thrives.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Ten metres, at 10:41am on Tuesday June 4th 2019, on a an overcast and drizzle filled morning off Birdcage Walk and Horse Guards Road in the grounds of St James's Park.

Situated in the City Of Westminster, the Park spans twenty three Hectares and is the oldest of the Royal Parks of London, with a variety of visiting and nesting birds that include Ducks, Canada Geese and Pelicans.

Here we see a Rock Dove or Feral pigeon (Columba livia), also known as a town pigeon or domestic pigeon and a wild ancestor of the Rock Dove. A common sight in UK gardens, and traditionally seen on London postcards of Piccadilly circus until the feeding of pigeons was banned, they can weigh up to 370g with a wingspan of 34cms. There are approximately more than a million breeding pairs in the UK with a conservation status of Green.

The Cuillin (An Cuilthionn or An Cuiltheann) is a range of rocky mountains located on the Isle of Skye. The true Cuillin is also known as the Black Cuillin to distinguish it from the Red Cuilin (na Beanntan Dearga, known locally as Red Hills) across Glen Sligachan. The Red Cuilin hills are lower and, being less rocky, have fewer scrambles or climbs.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Eight metres, in the magic of the Golden hour around sunrise at 05:41am, (sunrise was at precisely 06.15am) on Saturday 6th September 2014 off the Patricia Bay Highway 17, on Lochside Drive close to Frost Avenue and the Lochside Waterfront Park, in beautiful Sidney by the sea on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

Here, I am standing beside the wooden decked viewing platform, looking over towards Mt Baker in Washington State, USA from beautiful Sidney by the sea on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Also known as Koma Kulshan, she is an active glaciated andesitic stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc and the North Cascades of Washington State in the United States, standing 3,286 metres tall and was first ascended in 1868, her last eruption recorded in 1880.

These Canada Geese, along with many other small groups, fly across the lake from East to West every morning and back again every evening at Sunset, and I love to watch the classic Vee formations and listen to the honking as they pass me by. In flight, a group of Geese are called, a Skein.

This is my 93rd photograph to be selected, which for me is both amazing and exciting, as I never view my images as worthy compared to some of the awesome photography out there. EXPLORE is Flickr's way of showcasing the most interesting photos within a given point in time -- usually over a 24 hour period.

Flickr receives about 6,000 uploads every minute -- That's about 8.6 million photos a day! From this huge group of images, the Flickr Interestingness algorithm chooses only 500 images to showcase for each 24-hour period. Photograph taken at an altitude of Three hundred and nine metres in the magic of a rainy and misty Golden Hour around sunrise at 05:39am on Monday 25th May 2015 off the A855 close to The Storr, showing The old man of Storr, on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.

To capture this shot, my wife and I set the alarm for 3am and parked in the small car park off the road. The climb up to the Old man of Storr is incredibly steep, and I can honestly say we did not think we would make it at points along the way. Eventually we cleared the two main wooden gateways and arrived below the impressive rocks in the mist, the final climb needing the skills of a mountain goat which precluded us from even trying.

The Storr (Gaelic: An Stòr), is a rocky hill on the Trotternish Peninsula on the Isle of Skye with a steep rocky eastern face overlooking the Sound of Raasay, contrasting with gentler grassy slopes to the west.The Old Man of Storr rises to 535 metres and is visibile from the main road between Portree and Staffin on the west coast of Skye. Dominating the scene and visible fom many more parts of the islands the Storr is the hill immediately west of the Old Man and rising to 719 metres with xdcramatic cliffs on its eastern flank.

Spanning an area of 350 acres, the park is divided by the Serpentine and the Long water lakes, and was created by King Henry VIII in 1536 as hunting ground. It opened to the public in 1637 and was extensively improved under Queen Caroline in the early Eighteenth century. The Great exhibition for which the Crystal Palace was erected, designed by Joseph Paxton, was also held here.

This photograph was taken at an altitude of Four hundred and nine metres, at 15:21pm on Tuesday 10th May 2016 between Prophet River and Muskwa off Alaska Highway route 97 in Northern British Columbia, Canada.

This is a juvenile American Black Bear (Ursus Americanus), a medium sized bear native to North America, and found in abundance in the Yukon territory and Alaska. Black bears have a small tail, up to nine inches long foot length and males can weigh up to 250kgs. On my trip I encountered several bears and, although it is strongly recommended that you do not leave your vehicle to photograph these beautiful wild animals, needless to say, with care and caution I did just that to capture my photographs.

This Thirty second long exposure was taken at 04.31am on a beautiful Springtime morning in the Golden hour around sunrise (Sunrise was at precisely 05.48am), at an altitude of Twenty six metres on Wednesday 22nd April 2020, off North Cray Road within Foots Cray Meadows in Bexley, Kent.

Here we see, Sciurus Carolinensis (Eastern Gray Squirrel or Grey Squirrel), a tree squirrel native to North America and first introduced to the UK in the 1870's. Though it was largely responsible for the decimation of our own native red squirrel population, those are now on the increase and found in certain parts of the UK including Scotland. The Greys are still an ecologically essential natural forester regenerator.

Photograph taken at an altitude of three metres at 12.43pm on Sunday 22nd September 2019 10km West of Victoria off Ocean Boulevard at the Esquimalt Lagoon Migratory Bird Sanctuary at the southern end of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

Established in 1931, the 134-hectare sanctuary features a salt water lagoon and supports a host of wading birds from October through May each year.

Here we see a juvenile Larus occidentalis (Western gull) in first winter plumage. It is found on the West coast of North America, Mexico and British Columbia and is a large white-headed gull from the shorebirds family.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Ten metres, at 10:32am on Tuesday June 4th 2019, on a an overcast and drizzle filled morning off Birdcage Walk and Horse Guards Road in the grounds of St James's Park. Situated in the City Of Westminster, the Park spans twenty three Hectares and is the oldest of the Royal Parks of London, with a variety of visiting and nesting birds that include Ducks, Canada Geese and Pelicans.

Here we see a beautiful juvenile Siberian White-fronted goose (Anser Albifrons) relaxing beside the lake in St James's Park. The Siberian race has a pink bill and legs and the juvenile seen here does not yet have the full white forehead blaze nor black bars on it's belly that adults do. Siberians and those from Greenland are the two sub species which breed in the UK.

The park is free to use and found on the Southern aproach to the summit from the town of Mackenzie.

The Steller's Jay (Cyanocitta Stelleri), is an Omnivore Native to North America and related to the Blue Jay.It's diet can include snakes and lizards, the eggs of oither birds, as well as seeds and berries. With such a varied diet, it is no wonder that this beautiful little bird thrives.

Photograph taken at an altitude of One thousand, one hundred and twenty six metres at 15:38pm on Saturday 13th September 2014 , around six hours into aour scenic road trip. Having departed Adams Lake, we have pased through Chase and Revelst, then through Salmon Arm and Kamloops, Cache Creek and Crown Lake and Lillooet. Here, we look towards Duffey Lake on Duffey Lake Road Highway 99.

The Duffey Lake Road is a scenic highway which forms part of an automobile touring route called the Coast Mountain Circle Tour. This route forms a Seven hundred Kilometre circle from Vancouver and takes between two and four days to enjoy all of the sights. We were heading for a three day stop at the Crystal Lodge Hotel in Whistler Village, in the South Pacific Ranges of Coast Mountains in the province of British Columbia, Canada.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Fifty five metres at 09:26am on Friday April 14th 2017 within the Basilica Di Santa Maria in Ara Coeli al Campidoglio (the basilica of St.Mary of the altar of heaven), Scala Dell'Arcicapitolina, Rome, Italy.

A titular Basilica, foundations laid in 574, the building was completed in the 12th century and houses relics belonging to Saint Helena, Mother of Emperor Constantine. It is still the designated church of the City council of Rome under the ancient title of Senatus Populusque Romanus.
