Photograph taken at an altitude of approximately Sixteen metres at 16:20pm on Wednesday 7th November 2018, off sæbraut 41 and Ingolfsgarour where it crosses the Sculpture and shore walk in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Here we look over towards Viðey Island and Viðey House which was built in the 18th century for Skuli Magnusson, Treasurer General of Iceland under the Danish Sovereign and 'father of Reykjavik. To it's left we see Viðeyjarkirka, a stone built church constructed between the years 1767 to 1774 .

It was designed by Danish architect Georg David Anthon and was consecrated in 1774.

I was originally enrolled into the GETTY IMAGES collection as a contributor on April 9th 2012, and when links with FLICKR were terminated in March 2014, I was retained and fortunate enough to be signed up via a second contract, both of which have proved to be successful with sales of my photographs all over the world now handled exclusively by them.

On November 12th 2015 GETTY IMAGES unveiled plans for a new stills upload platform called ESP (Enterprise Submission Platform), to replace the existing 'Moment portal', and on November 13th I was invited to Beta test the new system prior to it being officially rolled out in December. ESP went live on Tuesday December 15th 2015 and has smoothed out the upload process considerably.

These days I take a far more leisurely approach to my photographic exploits, a Nikon D850 FX Pro body as my trusted companion, I travel light with less constraints and more emphasis on the pure capture of the beauty that I see, more akin to my original persuits and goals some five decades previously when starting out. This is my 123rd photograph to be selected, which for me is both amazing and exciting, as I never view my images as worthy compared to some of the awesome photography out there. EXPLORE is Flickr's way of showcasing the most interesting photos within a given point in time -- usually over a 24 hour period.

Flickr receives about 6,000 uploads every minute -- That's about 8.6 million photos a day! From this huge group of images, the Flickr Interestingness algorithm chooses only 500 images to showcase for each 24-hour period. The Champ de Mars (Field of Mars), is a large park located in the Seventh arrondissement between the Eiffel Tower to the Northwest and Ecole Militaire to the Southeast. It was named after Campus Martius in Rome, Italy. It originally measured 42 hectares, but was reduced by architect Jeran-Camille Fromige for the 1890 World Exposition.

The Eiffel Tower was originally designed by Gustave Eiffel and constructed between 1887-1889 as the entrance to the worlds fair in that year. It is now the worlds most visited paid monument, standing 324 metres tall (1,063ft) with three floors and eight lifts and was the tallest building in the world from 1889 to 1930.

Here we are looking over Harrison Lake which is a small community at the Southern end of Harrison Lake where Harrison River flows inwards in the Fraser valley of British Columbia in Canada. Known for it's hot springs, it has a population of around fifteen hundred people and was named after Benjamin Harrison, who formerly worked as Deputy governor for the Hudson's Bay Company.

Photograph taken at an altitude of One hundred and eighty eight metres at 13:25pm on Thursday 8th November 2018, off Biskupstungnabraut 35 at Gullfoss (Golden falls) waterfall, on the Ölfusá river in the South-west of iceland, located in the canyon of the Hvítá (white river)which begins at the Hvítárvatn glacier lake on the Langjökull glacier in the highlands of Iceland.

This tiered cataract waterfall has two drops of around eleven and twenty one metres, falling into a crevice thirty two metres deep and flows at a rate of between eighty and one hundred and forty cubic metres per second depending on the season.

This Twenty five seconds long exposure was taken at an altitude of One metres, in the golden hour around sunrise at 06:15am on Sunday 1st September 2019 around sunrise off 1st Street and Bevan Avenue, standing on the Bevan Avenue Fishing Pier in beautiful Sidney by the sea on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

The Bevan Avenue fishing pier is one of the main focal points in Sidney, and Work commenced on the pier in 1993 with Phase one, a 90 metre straight section being completed in 1996. A year later the 110 metre Phase two section was completed.

This Three seconds long exposure was taken at an altitude of Three metres, in the golden hour around sunrise at 06:53am on Tuesday 16th September 2019 seated on a fold up camping chair around sunrise off 1st Street and Bevan Avenue, between the boat jetty and Bevan Avenue Fishing Pier in beautiful Sidney by the sea on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

I was up around 5am, showered and pressing the button to the electric garage door, hoping not to awaken my family and the neighbourhood on an overcast morning in Sidney, BC. I threw my camera gear into the middle seating row of the Buick Enclave 3.6 and stirred the 275bhp engine into life, heading down the road past the school and Thrifty's foods towards the sea front. It's always a pleasure sitting here on the beach with the tide lapping the shoreline as the sun comes up, or doesn't as on this occasion!

This three seconds long exposure was taken at an altitude of Two metres, at 05:36am on Friday 3rd September 2019 around sunrise off 1st Street and Bevan Avenue, close to Glass beach in beautiful Sidney by the sea on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

In the distance we see Mt Baker in Washington State, USA . Known to the Lummi First nation people (Lhaq'temish) as Kwelshán ('Shooting place' in Nooksack), to the Halkomelem as Kwelxá:lxw, to Lushootseed speakers along the Skagit River as Teqwúbe7 meaning “snow-capped peak'', to the Nooksack language as Kweq’ Smánit (“white mountain'') and also known as Koma Kulshan, (pronounced kō-ō’mah’ kool-shän’), the name for the Middle Fork which originates from the glaciers such as Deming and Thunder on the western slopes, she is an active glaciated andesitic stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc and the North Cascades of Washington State in the United States, standing 3,286 metres tall and was first ascended in 1868, her last eruption recorded in 1880.

The name Mount Baker first appeared in print in Captain Vancouver’s 1798 narrative of his voyage around Vancouver Island. Legend has it that his third-lieutenant, Joseph Baker, was the first to spot the mountain while they sailed into Dungeness Bay on April 30th, 1792.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Three hundred and sixty two metres at 12:56pm on Monday 18th May 2015 on the A87 having passed Invergarry and Loch Garry twenty five kilometres north of Fort William, Lochaber, Scotland. Here we look over towards Loch Loyne, in the Northwest highlands of Scotland.

Loch Loyne originally had two stone bridges, but when the Loch was dammed in the 1950's as part of a Hydro-electric scheme, new sections of the A87 were laid and remains of the bridges are only visible when the water levels are low.

This photograph was taken at an altitude of Five metres on a winters day at 12:11am on Wednesday 12th January 2022 off Grand Parade A259 close to Goat Ledge at the Lower Promenade on St Leonards On Sea beach in East Sussex. Here we look over towards Hastings Pier.

St Leonards-on-Sea is a town and seaside resort in the Borough of Hastings in East Sussex, England. It has been part of the borough since the late 19th century and lies to the west of central Hastings.

A one and a half hour journey on a gorgeous morning of mist clearing to leave a gloriously warm morning on the coast. Coffee and almond croissants on the sea front and a three mile walk along the front, a tonic to the soul.

This is my 117th photograph to be selected, which for me is both amazing and exciting, as I never view my images as worthy compared to some of the awesome photography out there. In virtual darkness, the Nikon D700 famed foir it's chunky pixels and low light capabilities, mated to the remarkable f/2.8 Nikkor 24-70mm lens, picked out light and definition that my own eyes could barely detect. Alone and peaceful, I stayed until the sun had risen fully, and loved every second, though the blue hues of twilight really made it for me,

Thanet offshore windfarm was officially opened on September 23rd 2010 and was for a time, the largest offshore windfarm project in the world. Photograph taken at an altitude of Eight metres at 12:44pm on Saturday 27th January 2024, off the Mall and Horse Guards Road within the grounds of St James's Park in Central London, one of the Royal parks of London situated in South West London.

Here we see a Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea), a predatory wading bird in the Heron family. These long legged predatory wading birds of the heron family, Ardeidae, can stand over a metre tall and weigh up to 4.4ib. There are a resident pair of Grey Herons here, and a chick was successfully reared last year.

Here we see, Sciurus Carolinensis (Eastern Gray Squirrel or Grey Squirrel), a tree squirrel native to North America and first introduced to the UK in the 1870's. Though it was largely responsible for the decimation of our own native red squirrel population, those are now on the increase and found in certain parts of the UK including Scotland. The Greys are still an ecologically essential natural forester regenerator.

Located in the Southern Yukon at mile 73.5 from Skagway, Alaska, the distinctive water colour is derived from light reflecting off white deposits of Marl, a mixture of Calcium Carbonate and clay.

The Cuillin (An Cuilthionn or An Cuiltheann) is a range of rocky mountains located on the Isle of Skye. The true Cuillin is also known as the Black Cuillin to distinguish it from the Red Cuilin (na Beanntan Dearga, known locally as Red Hills) across Glen Sligachan. The Red Cuilin hills are lower and, being less rocky, have fewer scrambles or climbs.

The highest point of the Cuillin, and of the Isle of Skye, is Sgurr Alasdair in the Black Cuillin at 992 m (3,255 ft). The Cuillin is one of 40 National scenic areas in Scotland.

Photograph taken at an altitude of One hundred and forty six metres at 15:30pm on Thursday 8th November 2018, off Þingvallavegur 36 in the Þingvellir National Park, the only UNESCO world heritage site on the Icelandic mainland. It is situated East of Rekjavik in the municipality of Bláskógabyggð in southwestern Iceland and is known historically for the Alþing (Althing), the site of Iceland's parliament from the 10th to 18th centuries.

The park sits in a Mid-Atlantic Ridge and the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. To its south lies Þingvallavatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland.

Photograph taken off Park Lane and Stanley Park Drive at 14:14Pm on Friday 4th April 2007 in the grounds of Stanley Park, a 405-hectare public park that borders the downtown area of Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada.

Here we see a black squirrel found in abundance within the park. It is actually an Eastern Gray squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis), first introduced into the park in 1912, though a melanistic subgroup with black fur all over and no white underbelly. These morphs are a result of a faulty pigment gene, though it is also thought that the darker colouration is a genetic advantage, offering thermal advantages over it's grey and white counter part.

This is my 98th photograph to be selected, which for me is both amazing and exciting, as I never view my images as worthy compared to some of the awesome photography out there. EXPLORE is Flickr's way of showcasing the most interesting photos within a given point in time -- usually over a 24 hour period.

Flickr receives about 6,000 uploads every minute -- That's about 8.6 million photos a day! From this huge group of images, the Flickr Interestingness algorithm chooses only 500 images to showcase for each 24-hour period. A day of torrential rain, hour after hour, and fleeting moments when people could stretch their legs, let off steam, enjoy the Bank Holiday as the tide chased the horizon. I loved the bright sunlight through the cloud as it glistened on the sandy shoreline, and just as I lined up a shot, a family started running across my line of sight, first the Father and daughter. Perfect.

Photograph taken at an altitude of three metres at 12.43pm on Sunday 22nd September 2019 10km West of Victoria off Ocean Boulevard at the Esquimalt Lagoon Migratory Bird Sanctuary at the southern end of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

Established in 1931, the 134-hectare sanctuary features a salt water lagoon and supports a host of wading birds from October through May each year.

Here we see a juvenile Larus occidentalis (Western gull) in first winter plumage. It is found on the West coast of North America, Mexico and British Columbia and is a large white-headed gull from the shorebirds family.

Spanning an area of 350 acres, the park is divided by the Serpentine and the Long water lakes, and was created by King Henry VIII in 1536 as hunting ground. It opened to the public in 1637 and was extensively improved under Queen Caroline in the early Eighteenth century. This Thirty seconds long exposure was taken at an altitude of Two metres, in the golden hour around sunrise at 06:07am on Tuesday 16th September 2019 seated on a fold up camping chair around sunrise off 1st Street and Bevan Avenue, between the boat jetty and Bevan Avenue Fishing Pier in beautiful Sidney by the sea on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

In the distance, lights from a few boats navigating the passages between the Gulf Islands lit up the horizon, the first time in my many years of shooting at this location that I had ever witnessed such a beautiful spectacle.
