Here we see an adult Female Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus), a bird of prey belonging to the kestrel group of the falcon family Falconidae. It is also known as the European kestrel, Eurasian kestrel, Common Kestrel or Old World kestrel. In the United Kingdom, where no other kestrel species commonly occurs, it is generally just called "kestrel".
Female kestrels are an unremarkable shade of mid-brown, with their upper parts a richer shade than their breast and underparts. Their wingtips are darker brown than the rest of their bodies, and their tails are light brown, barred with darker, almost black banding. Female kestrels’ bodies are speckled all over with mottled darker markings.

Here we see an adult Vixen Red fox (Vulpes vulpes), the largest of the true foxes (a genus of the sub-family Caninae which form a proper clade or monophyletic or natural group). Red foxes are the largest of the worldwide foxes, and also the most commonly widespread across the Northern hemisphere, Europe and North Africa.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Forty nine metres at 09:36am on Saturday 20th February 2021 off Blackheath Avenue and Charlton Way in the grounds of Greenwich Park, one of the Royal Parks of London situated in Greenwich, South East London.
Here we see, Sciurus Carolinensis (Eastern Gray Squirrel or Grey Squirrel), a tree squirrel native to North America and first introduced to the UK in the 1870's. Though it was largely responsible for the decimation of our own native red squirrel population, those are now on the increase and found in certain parts of the UK including Scotland. The Greys are still an ecologically essential natural forester regenerator.

The common starling or European starling, also known simply as the starling in the British Isles, is a medium-sized passerine bird in the starling family, Sturnidae. It is about 20 cm long and has glossy black plumage with a metallic sheen, which is speckled with white at some times of year.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Sixty one metres at 11:41am on a summer morning on Wednesday 2nd June 2021, off Hythe Avenue and Chessington Avenue in Bexleyheath, Kent.
Here we see a Mother Starling (Sturnus vulgaris) feeding her baby. Starlings are Passerines measuring up to 21cm in length with up to a 42cm wingspan. They are most abundant in the South East of England and are capable of mimicking many sounds around them and despite being a common sight in UK gardens, their decline elsewhere sees them on the red conservation list.

This One seconds long exposure was taken at an altitude of Five metres, at 06:57am on Monday 23rd September 2019 around sunrise off 1st Street and Bevan Avenue, between the boat jetty and Bevan Avenue Fishing Pier in beautiful Sidney by the sea on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
The beautiful red sky bursting through the clouds was created by the sunlight's falling dust particles in the atmosphere, and lasted only a a few minutes before vanishing. It evolved almost out of nowhere and had walkers and joggers stopping in their tracks to watch it's brief beauty before it was gone and blueish grey clouds dominated the skyline once more.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Three metres in the golden hour around sunrise, (Sunrise was at precisely 05:26am), at 05:15am on Thursday May 3rd 2018 off Botany Road and Foreness Close on the sandy shoreline of Botany Bay, the northern most of seven bays in Broadstairs , Kent, England.
Thanet offshore windfarm was officially opened on September 23rd 2010 and was for a time, the largest offshore windfarm project in the world. The eight lines of turbines, one hundred of them in total, run north-west to south-east, covering a total area of 35sq km off Foreness Point near Margate. Each turbine is 115 metres high with 44-metre blades, and the project cost between £780-900million

The Bevan Avenue fishing pier is one of the main focal points in Sidney, and Work commenced on the pier in 1993 with Phase one, a 90 metre straight section being completed in 1996. A year later the 110 metre Phase two section was completed.

The beautiful and historic old pier in Hastings, East Sussex, England, was destroyed completely by a devastating fire on Tuesday 5 October 2010. Like many of a certain generation, in those flames went the memories of my childhood and youth, simpler days when the world was a nicer place and people less angry and unforgiving.
Little did I know that when this photograph was taken, at an altitude of Three metres at 10:10am on Sunday June 20th 20110, off Eversfield Place A259 past the White Rock Theatre, they would be my last ever photographs of this iconic landmark. Less than four months later she was gone.
The pier was designed by Eugenius Birch and spanned 910 feet in length with a maximum width of 190 feet. Her prime was in the 1930's.

Photograph taken taken at an altitude of Seventy five metres at 12:20pm on Monday 2nd September 2019, off 1461 Benvenuto Avenue in Brentwood Bay at the Victoria Butterfly gardens on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
This is 'Ziggy', a male Nosy Faly Panther Chameleon (Furcifer paradalis). Nosy Faly is an island locality just off the coast of Ambato to the North of Ambanja on the northwest coast of Madagascar, which is occasionally marketed by the designer name “Oorana Mena” meaning “red rain”.
Male Nosy Faly Panther Chameleons are known to show blue, white, red and yellow colors. Their body is typically blue with white barring and red spots around the body. Their eye turrets and the rear of the jaw are typically yellow in coloration. They live for around four to seven years. The latin word for Chameleon is chamaeleō which uses Ancient Greek χαμαιλέων (khamailéōn), χαμαί (khamaí) "on the ground" and λέων (léōn) "lion". The Greek word for Chameleon is 'nēš qaqqari' or Ground lion',

Photograph taken at an altitude of Four metres at 08:41am on Sunday 7th March 2021 off the Mall and Horse Guards Road within the grounds of St James's Park in Central London, one of the Royal parks of London situated in South West London.
Here we see an Eastern Grey Squirrel (Sciurus Carolinensis ), a tree squirrel native to North America and first introduced to the UK in the 1870's. Though it was largely responsible for the decimation of our own native red squirrel population, those are now on the increase and found in certain parts of the UK including Scotland. The Greys are still an ecologically essential natural forester regenerator.

This Fifteen seconds long exposure was taken at an altitude of Three metres, at 05:49am on Sunday 5th September 2019 around sunrise off 1st Street and Bevan Avenue, beteeen the boat jetty and Bevan Avenue Fishing Pier in beautiful Sidney by the sea on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
The Bevan Avenue fishing pier is one of the main focal points in Sidney, and Work commenced on the pier in 1993 with Phase one, a 90 metre straight section being completed in 1996. A year later the 110 metre Phase two section was completed.
In the distance we see Mt Baker in Washington State, USA . Known to the Lummi First nation people ( Lhaq'temish) as Kwelshán ('Shooting place' in Nooksack), to the Halkomelem as Kwelxá:lxw, to Lushootseed speakers along the Skagit River as Teqwúbe7 “snow-capped peak'', to the Nooksack language as Kweq’ Smánit (“white mountain'') and also known as Koma Kulshan, (pronounced kō-ō’mah’ kool-shän’), the name for the Middle Fork which originates from the glaciers such as Deming and Thunder on the western slopes, she is an active glaciated andesitic stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc and the North Cascades of Washington State in the United States, standing 3,286 metres tall and was first ascended in 1868, her last eruption recorded in 1880.
The name Mount Baker first appeared in print in Captain Vancouver’s 1798 narrative of his voyage around Vancouver Island. Legend has it that his third-lieutenant, Joseph Baker, was the first to spot the mountain while they sailed into Dungeness Bay on April 30th, 1792.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Fifty two metres at 07:22am on Wednesday 9th September 2020, of a Large red slug (Arion rufus) off Chessington Avenue in Bexleyheath, Kent.
Also known as the Red slug, Chocolate arion and European red slug, these are land slugs or roundback slugs in the family Arionidae. They are widespread across Western Europe, with a variant species found in Northern Britain and Scandinavia. They have a compact bell shape and stretch out in motion to a length of up to 180mm. They were first noted in 1758 by Carl Linnaeus and are classed as Mollusca, gastropoda class and subclass Heterobranchia.
Their life cycle is typically just one year and they are hermaphrodites. The opening on the right side is a pneumostome or respiratory pore which feeds air to the lung. They have a striped foot fringe and pale sole, and can reach 150mm fully extended. They have 27,000 teeth!

This thirty seconds long exposure was taken at an altitude of Zero metres, seated on a fold up camping chair at 06:35am on Saturday 21st September 2019 around sunrise off 1st Street and Bevan Avenue, between the boat jetty and Bevan Avenue Fishing Pier in beautiful Sidney by the sea on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
A thick band of fog quickly rolled across the sea from the Southern Gulf Islands, enveloping the Salish sea until I could literally see only a few feet in front of me.I managed a handgul of frames before even manual focus was no longer possible and I bid a hasty retereat.
The Fish market on Beacon Avenue has long been a popular location in Sidney and is situated on the pier close to Beacon Park and the new bandstand.

Photograph taken at 04.08am on a beautiful Springtime morning in the Golden hour around sunrise (Sunrise was at precisely 05.48am), at an altitude of Thirty metres on Wednesday 22nd April 2020, off North Cray Road within Foots Cray Meadows in Bexley, Kent.
After weeks of self isolation due to the global pandemic that we know as COVID-19 Coronavirus, we are allowed to go out for exercise once per day and keep away from others. A walk in the misty meadows today to taste the fresh air and get my limbs moving again.

Photograph taken at an altitude of One hundred and forty seven metres at 15:40pm on Thursday 8th November 2018, off Þingvallavegur 36 in the Þingvellir National Park (Thingvellir National Park) in Iceland. Situated East of Reykjavik, this is the location where the Alþing (Althing) parliamentary general assembly met between 930 CE and 1798. It has been home to a church for over One thousand years.
The park sits in a rift valley caused by the separation of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates with cliffs and fissures such as the Almannagjá fault.
Here we are looking over a body of water known as Þingvallavatn (Þingvallavatn lake). The lake has a surface area of 84 km² and a depth of 114m and lies partially with the national park.The only outflow from lake Þingvallavatn is the river Sog.

Photograph taken at 10:26am at an altitude of one hundred and thirty nine metres on Thursday 12th September 2013 on the shoreline of Loch Voil, a small freshwater loch approximately 5 km (3½ miles) in length. and separated from Loch doine by the River Larig. and is drained at its northern end by the River Balvaig at Balquhidder.
This view was taken ahead of the old stone bridge in the centre of Balquhidder, a small village in the Stirling Council area of Scotland It is overlooked by the dramatic mountain terrain of the Braeds of Balquhidder. Rob Roy is allegedly buried in the cemetary a few hundred yards from this beautiful location.

This is 'Ziggy', a male Nosy Faly Panther Chameleon (Furcifer paradalis). Nosy Faly is an island locality just off the coast of Ambato to the North of Ambanja on the northwest coast of Madagascar, which is occasionally marketed by the designer name “Oorana Mena” meaning “red rain”.
Male Nosy Faly Panther Chameleons are known to show blue, white, red and yellow colors. Their body is typically blue with white barring and red spots around the body. Their eye turrets and the rear of the jaw are typically yellow in coloration. They live for around four to seven years. The latin word for Chameleon is chamaeleō which uses Ancient Greek χαμαιλέων (khamailéōn), χαμαί (khamaí) "on the ground" and λέων (léōn) "lion". The Greek word for Chameleon is 'nēš qaqqari' or Ground lion',

It is situated East of Rekjavik in the municipality of Bláskógabyggð in southwestern Iceland and is known historically for the Alþing (Althing), the site of Iceland's parliament from the 10th to 18th centuries.
The park sits in a Mid-Atlantic Ridge and the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. To its south lies Þingvallavatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland.

The Bevan Avenue fishing pier is one of the main focal points in Sidney, and Work commenced on the pier in 1993 with Phase one, a 90 metre straight section being completed in 1996. A year later the 110 metre Phase two section was completed.

Here we see a Male Eclectus parrot (Eclectus roratus), native to the Solomon Islands, New Guinea, Northeastern Australia and the Maluku Islands. This parrot is so extreme in it's sexual dimorphism that the females were once thought to be a completely separate species (females are bright red and purple).
This particular bird is caslled 'Little E', a total flirt when it comes to woman, especially wearing glasses, and noted for clambering up thier arms and kissing them on the lips!

Spanning an area of 350 acres, the park is divided by the Serpentine and the Long water lakes, and was created by King Henry VIII in 1536 as hunting ground. It opened to the puiblic in 1637 and was extensively improved under Queen Caroline in the early righteenth century. The Great exhibition for which the Crystal Palace was erected, designed by Joseph Paxton, was also held here.

I was originally enrolled into the GETTY IMAGES collection as a contributor on April 9th 2012, and when links with FLICKR were terminated in March 2014, I was retained and fortunate enough to be signed up via a second contract, both of which have proved to be successful with sales of my photographs all over the world now handled exclusively by them.
On November 12th 2015 GETTY IMAGES unveiled plans for a new stills upload platform called ESP (Enterprise Submission Platform), to replace the existing 'Moment portal', and on November 13th I was invited to Beta test the new system prior to it being officially rolled out in December. ESP went live on Tuesday December 15th 2015 and has smoothed out the upload process considerably.
These days I take a far more leisurely approach to my photographic exploits, a Nikon D850 FX Pro body as my trusted companion, I travel light with less constraints and more emphasis on the pure capture of the beauty that I see, more akin to my original persuits and goals some five decades previously when starting out. Photograph taken at an altitude of Seven metres at 08:02am on Monday 15th May 2018 off Vicarage Lane and the Saxon Shore Way, at the dead boat graveyard, part of Hoo Marina, in Hoo St Werburgh, Kent.
Some of the derelict old sailing barges lying here were built over a century ago, as transportation for locally sourced clay to the cement works. Some would have ended up in later life as houseboats before being left to rot in the surrounding salt marsh. The mud is incredibly thick at low tide and it's easy to become lodged if you are not careful.

A day of torrential rain, hour after hour, and fleeting moments when people could stretch their legs, let off steam, enjoy the Bank Holiday as the tide chased the horizon. I loved the bright sunlight through the cloud as it glistened on the sandy shoreline, and just as I lined up a shot, a family started running across my line of sight. The mother running with one child, the father with another...Perfect.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Twelve metres, at 10:40am on Tuesday June 4th 2019, on a an overcast and drizzle filled morning off Birdcage Walk and Horse Guards Road in the grounds of St James's Park. Situated in the City Of Westminster, the Park spans twenty three Hectares and is the oldest of the Royal Parks of London, with a variety of visiting and nesting birds that include Ducks, Canada Geese and Pelicans.
Here we see seven Mute swan cygnets(Cygnus Olor) on the lake in St James's Park, with two very proud parents just out of shot.

Also known as the Red slug, Chocolate arion and European red slug, these are land slugs or roundback slugs in the family Arionidae. The opening on the right side is a pneumostome or respiratory pore whih feeds air to the lung. They have a striped foot fringe and pale sole, and can reach 150mm fully extended.

****This frame was chosen on October 20th 2015 to appear on FLICKR EXPLORE (Highest Ranking: #243. This is my 80th photograph to be selected, which for me is both amazing and exciting, as I never view my images as worthy compared to some of the awesome photography out there. EXPLORE is Flickr's way of showcasing the most interesting photos within a given point in time -- usually over a 24 hour period.
Flickr receives about 6,000 uploads every minute -- That's about 8.6 million photos a day!
