Me at OpenFest Rousse 2009, giving a presentation on Unix systems programming. Video available at vimeo.com/7609450.

I have never seen filenames highlighted in red in my Terminal window. Huh. Who knew? (I told Hollen I would take a picture of this unprecedented event. I'm sure she's delighted.)

Put your own comments in ..Im sure those unix guru will have a word or two ! Taken at a hotel i stayed in ..and any good geek would have taken the picture too.

UNIX is still alive today in the form of Linux, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, BSD and others.

the latest from the software experiment.

the program itself is approaching readiness. it's neat, because: it is meant to be a kind of virtual 'bad' camera. like a holga, or things of that nature, where you don't really know what you're going to get all the time. and: that's how the software works.

anyway: I'm curious if I should build up a mac or windows version? I do my work under unix.

"UNIX" is the name of an operating system popular among geeks and nerds (such as myself). I was amused to see a container labeled "UNIX WARE" - we just use it for food storage, not computing...

The blurb is actually pretty good for describing (in marketing-speak) software...

These are the boxes I took to the local hazardous materials collection site for recycling.

There are several notable machines here, including the very first computer my family got. It's the all-in-one thing near the center of the screen, an IBM PS2 25.

There are two HP RISC machines that run HP Unix. I picked them up at the first Saturday sale several years ago. I'm sad to say it, but our household will be without an HPUX machine from now until the foreseeable future.

Finally, near the back is a dead 21" Sun monitor, and a box of x86 machines, UPS's, and power supplies.

All told, I got rid of about 5 machines and an equal number of monitors that day.

This is my quad operating system running Sabayon Linux, Vista and Belenix (OpenSolaris with a KDE front end) as well as Leopard

The theme which I designed myself is called Sentinel and is based around the machines from the Matrix movie.

The plugins I use are:

Compiz-Fusion

SuperKaramba

Cairo-Dock

Emerald

VirtualBox

VMware

I use Sabayon as the main OS and Vista, Leopard and Belenix as virtual machines.

If you are a linux user you can try out my theme which I have uploaded to kde-look.org

Seen in front of the MIT student center. He was also handing out pamphlets about Plan9.

It was not clear to me whether he was genuinely evangelizing Plan9 or was doing a performance hack. He certainly seemed very sincere.

Came across this t-shirt from the mid-90s. I've been using Linux for work since 1994.
