I undertook a post graduate in Unix at St. Patrick’s College about fifteen years ago and it was an interesting experience. A few days after completing the course the company that I worked for was purchased by Banta and I was made redundant as the new owners did not require Unix expertise. The post-graduate which was very expensive was sponsored and paid for by the EU and at the time I had believed that I was attending Maynooth University rather than St. Patrick’s because I did not know that they were not the same.

St Patrick's College is the "National Seminary for Ireland" (a Roman Catholic college), and a Pontifical University, located in the village of Maynooth, 24 km from Dublin, Ireland. In 2015-16 there were approximately 80 men studying for the priesthood at Maynooth, 60 resident seminarians and approximately 20 non residents. The college and seminary are often referred to as Maynooth College. The college was officially established as the Royal College of St Patrick by an Act of Grattan's Parliament in 1795. Thomas Pelham, the Secretary of State, introduced his Bill for the foundation of a Catholic college, and this was enacted by Parliament.

Degrees are awarded by the Pontifical University at Maynooth, which was established by a Pontifical Charter of 1896. The Pontifical Charter entitles the university to grant degrees in canon law, philosophy and theology. The college is associated with the separate Maynooth University.

This is my setup as of October 6th, 2009. I am studying Computer Science, and this is where I do all of my work and spend a lot of my day. I've designed the setup to be space-concious, while comfortable, and I think I've succeeded. As you can probably tell, this is actually located under my bed, because of limited space in my dorm. Taken with a Canon XSi.

As you can tell, I do a lot of development. I also use this setup as a general computer, but I rarely (if ever) play games on it. If anyone knows how to get Half Life 2 to stretch across all 4 displays in Vista, let me know...

In 2012, More Than More evolved into something of a wearable brand, rather than strictly a service-based photography company. As a result, we felt that the natural next step for us was to make our photographs wearable. The Image Collection is a series of premium, screen printed designs based around photographs we've taken. Each design will be limited edition and hand-numbered, similar to our "More" coffee table book series. Once that style and color is sold out, it's gone for good.

We'll kick each set of designs off with a pre-sale which will include some design-specific bonus items only available during the pre-sale. Additionally, the earlier you make your pre-sale purchase, the lower your numbered shirt will be. We'll number them as the orders come in. If you're first, you get #1.

A classic scene from Jurassic Park :-)

I remember seeing this movie in the theaters and thinking "That doesn't look like Unix" (I was using Unix at the time for work and school). After I took this photo, I did some Googling and according to this website, it actually was a Unix system. Who knew? :-) movies.stackexchange.com/questions/9745/is-the-unix-opera...

By the way, I changed Dr. Ellie Sattler's hairpiece so she would be able to turn her head for the photo :-)

Using an arduino to drive this.

I wrote this calendar code so that it works on a small cpu like the arduino. After looking at the BSD unix 'cal' utility, I decided it was easier to start from scratch than to port that big app over.

For $10, its hard to go wrong. The device is 'sort of' i2c; just use the u8glib library:

code.google.com/p/u8glib/

and for THIS device, you have to set this as the constructor in C++:

U8GLIB_SH1106_128X64(U8G_I2C_OPT_NONE);

(its an sh1106 device).

This is the unit I bought on amazon:

www.amazon.com/Huhushop-TM-Serial-Display-Arduino/dp/B00J...

The arduino code I wrote takes the month, day and year and uses some open-source date calculation code to find out when the first day of the month is as well as the number of days in that month. Given that, I print, in a for-loop, the days with the right amount of horizontal spacing, until the last day of the month is printed.

Note that this is a graphic lcd so you have to be well aware of the (x,y) offsets due to font sizes.

This photo does not really do this display justice. The background is very dark (as OLEDs are) and the text is turquoise, not exactly blue.

Its size is comparable to a wrist watch (the displayable size). This is a small display, not something you can use for distance viewing, but for on-desk use or on some test equipment where you are sitting close by, its ok.

Exactly 2006 images taken during 2005. This is what I did:

I sed the UNIX "banner" program to generate the 2006 pattern. I used a "width" of 81, which gave me 1999 "dots". I added seven more (at the side of the six) so that they were 2006 dots forming the numbers.

After that, with a simple perl program I transformed the pattern into points in which to insert an image. With another perl program using the Imagemagick library, I built a 4000x3000 image in which I inserted most of the images I had in my HD, following the pattern generated by the banner.

Hope you enjoy it!

Make an easy calender for the fieldnote in three steps. Just use "cal" command of UNIX. 1. Run the command on the Terminal.app as shown in the picture, 2. Print out the Teminal.app's window (command + P), 3. Cut and paste on the Fieldnote.
