Sailing on the River Elbe can get a little busy sometimes. These two huge container ships Ever Smile and UASC Yabu passed one another just down river from Hamburg Yachthafen. The wakes from both ships made us feel somewhat small in our 25ft Folkboat!!

Sailing under the Bahrain flag, Al Manamah was built in 2008 with a GTW 75579. Her overall length is 306m with the extreme breadth being 40.05m. Seen in La Spezia, Italy with this photo being taken from the port side of P&O Cruises Azura - IMO: 9424883, on 29/07/2016, while awaiting departure for Monaco, a short hop of 120 nautical miles according to www.sea-distances.org.
The 3,100 passenger Azura had already called at Gibraltar on 25/07/2016, Ajaccio, Corsica on 27/07 and Civitavecchia on 28/07 having departed from the Mayflower Terminal, Southampton, on 22/07/2016, for a 14-night Western Med. Cruise; Southampton - Gibraltar - Ajaccio, Corsica, France - Civitavecchia(Port of Rome), Italy - La Spezia, Italy - Monte Carlo, Monaco - Marseilles, France - Cadiz, Spain - Southampton. A total distance of 2,231 nautical miles so far. La Spezia is starting to be used for visiting Florence and Pisa. Loading containers that were brought in to the Euroports Terminal but will be shipped out via one of the big container terminals.
In this case it is UASC containers that will be discharged at the DP World Terminal at the Deurganck dock for shipment.
IMO Number 7708900. Netherlands flag, 22,500-dwt, general cargo and container carrier. Built 1979, Van der Giessen-de Noord B.V., Krimpen. Scrapped Alang 25/11/09. Unidentified UASC vessel beyond.
The UASC Zamzam (IMO 9699127) leaving the MPET terminal at the port of Antwerp with the assistance of the Antwerp Towage operated tug Fairplay XIV (IMO 9541708) on the stern.
The "UASC Zamzam" calls on Rotterdam, London Gateway, Bremerhaven, Hamburg, Antwerp, Le Havre, Sines, Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Navigantes, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Rio Grande, Paranagua, Salvador, Pecem, Tanger Med and back to Rotterdam.

In 2 delen werden de SBB wagens weggezet bij Verbrugge ter belading van het cellulose spot vervoer iov HGK. De containers op de achtergrond hoorden hier eigenlijk niet. Die kwamen van een UASC schip dat was vastgelopen op de Westerschelde op weg naar Antwerpen. Normaal stond het hier vol met Ford auto's en busjes.
