Tawny owl fledglings
I could hear them and when one moved I finally saw them through the trees against the light. What a wonderful sight, Two young Tawnys. Must check them again in the morning
I've been trying to get a shot of the hummingbird I saw two days ago on my deck, since it would be a county first (I'm not an established birder, so my word isn't enough that I saw a Broad-tailed Hummingbird). I've sat waiting for it. Darned thing was probably migrating through. So I'm reading, and watching, and getting sleepy, when this guy lands on my deck rail. Thank you for sitting there long enough for me to get a shot, Mr. Purple Finch. It's all I got from just sitting there watching. Last night I had hummingbird and field guide dreams. Better than Covid19 dreams, for sure.
This shot was taken with the same old Leica lens that I used for the shot of St Paul's Cathedral that I posted a few days back. It's a 90mm lens but when I adapt it to use on my Olympus Micro 4/3s camera, with it's crop sensor, it effectively becomes a 180mm lens. Using a telephoto lens that long will inevitably introduce a lot of compression into an image and you see that phenomenon very clearly here. The chimney tower on the right, which stands on top of the Tate Modern museum, is approximately 250 meters away. Meanwhile the slightly taller Shard building on the left is approximately 1100 meters away (distances measured in Google maps). The Shard is 306 meters high, the Tate chimney tower is 99 meters high.
an old but unforgettable photo i did in Sabie Sands, 14th august 2015 .
at sunset time a beautiful young leopard (panthera pardus) male
called "Quarantine" climbed the termite mound next to us and
started watching the sunset.
then he decided to get up and leave.
the scene was too close for my camera lens so i decided to use my smartphone.
a now very old Samsung Note4 did his job .
the rangers were very surprised by this shot and they asked me a copy of the photo.
Quarantine is now a dominant male in sabie sands, this shot is in the ranger office.

Two's company - The maze like limestone pavement of Twisleton Scar End stretching out to Ingleborough in the distance on a bright spring morning. Two ash trees cling to the limestone in this seemingly inhospitable environment.

Two hours old, born in the shade
Pines, poplars, and dogwoods.
A perfect spring morning.
The sun rising over the mountains.
Mother washing her labor of love.
Heifer, in a greedy first feed.

The dromedaries at our local zoo are quite comical and seem to know how to ignore the camera pointing at them... they will strike a pose however, when given the chance, lol
*singing* Two different directions
Too many different ways
One always on the road somewhere
The other one always stays ~ Lyrics: J. Denver
Two Sandhill Cranes jiving and rocking it out in a country field as a stop over for their migration farther north. These fellas sure know how to boogie.
Two-tone BR Green 47596 (D1933) stands at Thuxton (Mid-Norfolk Railway) after arriving in with the 14:00 service from Derehem. The loco had replaced classmate 47580 'County of Essex' which was planned to work all trains that day. However, due to an oil leak, 47580 was declared a failure and replaced by 47596.
This picture illustrates the challenge between the locals and the tourists. The authencity of the local live, for example the local fishermen, is threatened by the thousands of tourists coming molt in summer to these ugly hotel buildings. Algarve, 2008..
