Looking around this scene for compositions I can across a row of rocks that I thought would look good as a foreground element leading the eye to the two lovely water falls in the background. Setting my camera as low to the floor as possible.

I believe this is a Two-barred Warbler, but living in North America I am not very familiar with the Phylloscopidae. I put this to the Bird Identification Help Group here on Flickr to see if I am right, but don’t yet have a conclusive answer.

The sighting was on the Ang Ka nature trail near the highest point of Doi Inthanon National Park in northern Thailand, in late January.

If anyone has tips for achieving pastel colours in photos I'd be happy if you would share them, having tried everything I can imagine and not feeling very successful!

( I could not tone down the orange in the first shot and I find the turquoise beads a little too pale in the second. An interesting challenge, hoping to learn! )

Theres not much to say about this photo other then it was not planned. I just looked out the window and saw how the sun hit our 'laituri' perfectly, so I grabbed my camera, threw on a dress and ran. Oh and lets not forget sprayed myself completely with bug spray.

all textures by les brumes. she is amazing.

Two snowdrops growing through the undergrowth in February 2017. The background is a mixture of last years fallen leaves and a distant tree trunk, all diffused by using f3.2 on a macro lens.

The California Bungalow style of this house fits in quite well with the two palm trees. It could easily be a suburb in Los Angeles. In fact it's Invermay in Launceston, Tasmania. The upper story would appear to be a well constructed later addition.

The first of the two solitudes is easy to see. The second, far offshore, a little less obvious. Either way, with rain imminent and most people having retreated indoors, it was a great time to grab a little personal space for these two. As for us, we chose to forgo camping for the night and stay dry in a motel - it rained all night and into most of the next day.

The Duke of Burgundy butterfly, once called a Fritillary, is quite scarce. Many people travel to Cerne Giant, Dorset to see this small colony in May-June.

It was another first for me so I was extra chuffed to see a couple together.
