Construction fencing outside of a new apartment building coming up quickly down the street. Shot by phone. Macro Mondays. HMM!
A mobile photo of two leaves floating on a lake in the reflection of some autumn trees. One leaf is easy to spot, can you find the second one?
A double handyman's delight with both a house and a car restoration!
The car checks out to be a 1972 Austin Mini 850 and is past salvaging from the look! Got to love the upside down flat back tyre!
I've deliberately processed this with a bit of an old flat look to tie in with the subjects hopefully!

Life is a short, deep and simple gallop, but on horseback it is strength and spirit, as well as freedom and confidence. It is what we are, an open heart
La vida es un galope corto, profundo y sencillo, pero a caballo es fuerza y espÃritu, asà como libertad y confianza. Es lo que somos, un corazón abierto.

Another one from the archives. This guy hauled and played two pianos for the people of Portland. He was pretty good, too.
"The historic ghost town of Two Guns is situated on the eastern rim of Canyon Diablo about 30 miles east of Flagstaff, Arizona, United States of America. The town, originally known as Canyon Lodge, flourished as one of the significant tourist spots along the famous route 66.
The town had a gas station, a cafe, overnight accommodation, a store selling local souvenirs and even a zoo with animals characteristic for the area. But when Route 66 was redirected to the opposite canyon, the town of Two Guns, as many towns along the old unused section of Route 66, started slowly to decline. After several attempts for it to be resurrected, the town of Two Guns became a completely abandoned ghost town at the beginning of the 1970s. The several remaining buildings are now in ruins but the site remains a picturesque place full of history and mystery.
The area that would later become Two Guns was inhabited much earlier. Native artifacts discovered there indicate that this place was populated from 1050 AD. The first European settlers started to populate the area in the mid-19th century when the construction of the Santa Fe Railway was proceeding in northern Arizona. In 1880 there was built a railroad town called Canyon Diablo, which became a ghost town years before the idea of building the town of Two Guns was even born. The town of Canyon Diablo quickly became a favorite place for outlaws, gamblers, and criminals. Billy the Kid and his gang hid in a ruined house built from the stone on the west edge of Canyon Diablo in winter 1879-1890."

Sony A7iii, handheld and on manual settings. The scene is the beautiful town of Berkhampsted, Hertfordshire. Two mothers in conversation and right there, at this moment, in spite of all the traffic and the hubbub of the town, they are the centre of the world.
From an 8x10 inch Fomapan 100 negative (well, branded as CatLabs X80, but it's Fomapan) developed in PMK Pyro. Not bad, but the shoulder rolls off very early, making for somewhat difficult to visualize high values. But it works in its own way.

which I created for today's Looking Close on Fridays: objects in pastel colours
If anyone has tips for achieving pastel colours in photos I'd be happy if you would share them, having tried everything I can imagine and not feeling very successful!
( I could not tone down the orange in the first shot and I find the turquoise beads a little too pale in the second. An interesting challenge, hoping to learn! )
I believe this is a Two-barred Warbler, but living in North America I am not very familiar with the Phylloscopidae. I put this to the Bird Identification Help Group here on Flickr to see if I am right, but don’t yet have a conclusive answer.
The sighting was on the Ang Ka nature trail near the highest point of Doi Inthanon National Park in northern Thailand, in late January.
A picture taken last April of 2010. The time where I don't even know what aperture, shutter, and iso mean :) Since this picture is that old, I gave it an old feeling by adding texture and changing to sepia tone ;)
Thanks for your visit, comments, and faves!
Have a great day my friends! :)
Another empty jet fuel train, from Glattbrugg (originally from Rümlang of course, but the few kilometres between those two stations were covered under a different regime and with a different number) to Karlsruhe Gbf (D), is hauled by Rheincargo's 6193 106 in the new-ish 'Together Strong' livery. Tomorrow when the farm boys find this
freak of nature, they will wrap his body
in newspaper and carry him to the museum.
But tonight he is alive and in the north
field with his mother. It is a perfect
summer evening: the moon rising over
the orchard, the wind in the grass. And
as he stares into the sky, there are
twice as many stars as usual.
