Is it my imagination or lack of memory that makes me think we have had a lot more yellow trees this year than normal in autumn? Was this caused by a long hot, and dry, summer?
Whatever, it provides a beautiful contrast against the dark slate of the North Wales quarries.
Only spoilt of course by the contrasting Seimens AG factory.
Sainte-Flavie, QC.
This composition utilizes photos I took of "Le Grand Rassemblement," a sculptural installation created by Marcel Gagnon for Le Centre d’Art Marcel Gagnon de Sainte-Flavie, Quebec. The original sculptures, mounted on the rocky shore of the St. Lawrence River, are constructed from wood, cement, rope and other textiles. This image uses superimposition and textures to blend some of the photos together.

seen at Deas Island Park where we ventured out of our warm car and scurried around snapping pictures. It was so beautiful and sooo cold !
As long as the world is turning and spinning, we're gonna be dizzy and we're gonna make mistakes.

Even if something is left undone, everyone must take time to watch the leaves turn...

Turning a wooden bowl, part 10. Here the bowl is is face down in a compression chuck (actually a different set of jaws on the same chuck seen in previous pictures. The inside has been finished. This step allows the bottom to be flattened and to get rid of the dovetail socket, which is no longer needed. After this, and a bit of sanding, the rest of the finih will be applied, and the bowl will be completed. I'll post a last shot of the finished bowl, although that will probably take another week or so. For 2016: one photo each day (207/366)
Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion; it is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality. But, of course, only those who have personality and emotion know what it means to want to escape from these. Emily Dickinson
Acquedotto di Segovia. A massive construction feat that was done with such precision of a grade of less than 1 deg.
Just had a couple of days in London hitting some of the galleries. Naturally I also took loads of pictures whilst wandering about from venue to venue, and this is the first off the roll.
Shot with my all new, all singing, all dancing, smart phone. Very smart as it turns out because it's producing some very credible and impressive images.
No, I know, it won't replace my cameras - well not completely - but it was a bit of an eye opener just how much has improved since my last smart phone purchase (and this one is sooo last year - in terms of tech) and I haven't even switched over to Pro mode yet. Many happy pictures to come I think.
Thank you for visiting my stream.

Traveling south from The Snaefellsness Peninsula we encountered some ever changing weather conditions.Unfortunately we were sort of in "no mans land" when we saw this scene. We pulled over at about the only spot available on this section of the busy Ring Road. No real composition available so a case of zooming in and hoping for the best.
Here's a chameleon tail for your Monday! This fellow had his eyes closed for most of the time I was looking at him, so I was looking for other interesting part of the body.
Today's my first in-service day as I look toward beginning a new school year. The school year's regular schedule usually helps me get Monday through Friday posting regularity of photos. Here's to a great new year! :)

Turning the Eggs - Sandhill Crane parent on nest. This pair lost their 2 colts to traffic and tried to renest. Unfortunately this nesting was unsuccessful for some reason. Hopefully better luck next year.
LNER Azuma Hitachi Class 800 No. 800104 rounds the curved Nairn Viaduct at Culloden with 1W16, the 12:00 London Kings Cross – Inverness 'Highland Chieftain' service on 18th July 2021.
The image title is, of course, inspired by the 1980 hit by The Vapors which reached number 3 in the UK charts.
Due to a strike by ScotRail staff this was one of just three revenue earning passenger services over the viaduct on this day, the other two being the morning southbound LNER service and the evening southbound Caledonian Sleeper.
