I had the day off of work today and I had intended to do housework all day, but when my son was over last night he mentioned going to see Beauty and the Beast today. It's both of our favorite Disney animated movies and he's been waiting for this live action version to come out for months and months. So we went early this afternoon after I had done a couple things around the house, The movie was great, totally lived up to our expectations!! We both loved it. I spent the rest of the afternoon and early evening grocery shopping and running errands. Okay, and some Pokemon Go, too. I am hosting my book club tomorrow night and I still have too many things to do. I asked the kids if they could think of any triangles and my younger son remembered that my daughter has one in her emergency kit in her car. So I grabbed it and took a quick shot for the theme! It's after 9:30 and I better get moving quick!

Today's shot is for The Hereios' theme, triangles.

@outergate: in response to the front door at sunset photo: thanks for the critique, you are right there isn't really a story. i like the photo because of the feeling it evokes, nothing more nothing less. yes it's an abstraction, but the mood it sets with the color and reflection is what i thought was cool. thanks for the visit!

Jasper the Spoodle in that wonderful doggy sit/lie down. He's such a big rangy guy I always revel in his positions.

I see three triangles in this photo. I wonder, are there more?

Addendum: there are many more. I was counting the triangle of his legs to bottom, the triangle of his tail, and the triangle on the rug, lower right. Lots of dark triangles and triangles within triangles.

Whatta group you are! You all help me to see better.

I'm behind on comments. I'll catch up. So sorry.

The Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower - Shinjuku is a distinctive 50 story (204 meter) skyscraper in the Shinjuku district of Tokyo. It was opened in 2008 and is the 17th tallest building in Tokyo, and houses a number of educational institutions.

I always find it interesting how you see things when you start looking. I've walked past this fence hundreds of times, and noticed it anew today. As well as the triangle "handle", the knots in the wood make a lot of circles within the rectangular palings. Cool.

Strobist - simple set up: Shoot through left at about 45 deg and a bare strobe right and back a bit. eTTL triggered, can't remember the settings, but probably underexposed the ambient to keep the highlight detail in the background tamed.

Oh and before anyone says "there's something growing out of her head" they are supposed to mirror her legs and arms :)

10 Week Picture Project : Shapes Wk1~ Triangle

I said this was done from landmarks and you may be wondering about the curves. If you sweep a midpoint of a side over the paper, using an adjacent point as a pivot, you describe that curve. Me, I just mark a few points and pinch in the curve. And then mirror it.

Try it at home: PDF.

You can totally do a Fuse-style spiral with the points. On one of the prototypes, I did a Manx triskelion with knees and feet.

My triangles challenge piece is called "an unrully flock". It measures 11"x25". I was inspired by a few chickens... a paper-pieced Silly Chicken from quilterscache.com, and pieced chickens from this blog carla-graceandfavour.blogspot.ca/2013/07/the-list.html

This piece was sewn in Israel where I've been spending a couple of months with my folks.

Assignment was to photograph triangle. My mind just doesn’t see them for photo composition. So here is a snapshot of a patch on my backpack

Penrose Triangle... Created by Oscar Reutersvärd... and described by psychologist Lionel Penrose and his mathematician son Roger Penrose as "impossibility in its purest form"...designed in #adobeillustrator #adobephotoshop by Gary Horne...

This is just for future reference... (but then most everything is for future reference.) I liked the oblong triangle shapes, but I'm getting tired of those stars.
