A micro-ecosystem of mushrooms and lichens nestled in the bark of a red maple tree in Eagle River, Vilas County, northern Wisconsin

In an open field at Rice University, Houston, Texas. Looking at the leaf profile and bark, I think this is a water oak (Quercus nigra), known for weak wood (brittle and falling limbs). Living an average 30-50 years (short lifespan for an oak tree), this tree may be nearing its end.
In March I had an opportunity to visit my sister in Victoria, Texas. While visiting we toured many areas where I was able to get a photo shoot in. On this day we stayed in Victoria and traveled to the outskirts where this lazy river was flowing. Right on that river bank was a bar and grill where we relaxed with a Martini and shrimp. Such a nice view from their outdoor deck! Some of the views are abstract with many reflections. I will be uploading each place separately as I get them ready to view. Old tree-branch bark, with lichen attached.
I sometimes collect bark, especially with lichen attached. It is so amazing!
This fills the 3" frame.

After joining flickr 4 weeks ago, I was desperate to find my 100th photo. I came across this photo from Pentewan Valley. After editing in LRC I found an earlier version (APS_0209) that I had uploaded 3 weeks before. Looking at some great work on flickr its amazing how editing and expression change.
I took this yesterday, but needed a day to decide if I liked it or not.
