Thankfully, the hot sun is taking a break, but the air is quite thick as this CPKC empty ballast train traverses the Wisconsin & Southern's trackage in-route to Waterloo for loading.

Creeping along at only 10 mph, a northbound Goose Lake train takes its cars out of Alturas to Lakeview. One section of track for somewhere between five to ten miles of track hugs the hills leading down to the North Fork Pit River. The train is seen along this section before the road splits off until the tracks reach the settlement of Davis Creek.
Standing on Sgurr na Banaichdaich.
Part of a long day on Skye Cuillin ridge which Started with Mhadaidh and Ghreadaidh, over Banaichdaich, descent down to Loch Coruisk and up the Dubh's ridge, before returning to Glen Brittle.
Once again we are on the move, once again I park us after driving for mere moments. This one is much more subtle than the rest. It is however, unique in its own way.
As a thin white cloud elongates over the distant hills, its reflection also carries across the lake. It creates an isolated and fleeting moment. A scene that is rendered special due to repetitive golden patterns in the grasses, and unusual lines in the sky

As we move around to start the climb, we get a good view of the ridge traverse we are to follow to eventually reach the peak of Cairn Gorm, which can just be seen to the far left of image, but first we have climb to the top of the coire to the right, which looks rather steep!
Cairn Gorm, the mountain from which the Cairngorm mountain range gets its name, stands at 1245 meters (4085 feet) and is my 4th Munro of the season, my 27th in total. The hike (no bike this time) sees me covering a circuit of just over 7 miles and making an elevation gain of around 762 meters (2500 feet).
Back in July we completed a 6-day traverse across the North Cascades in Washington State. We crossed numerous glaciers, climbed over dramatic mountain passes, and enjoyed world-class alpine scenery. Hopefully I'll have time to edit a few shots from that trip in the coming weeks. Here is just one of the many glaciers we passed through. I had to include my friend standing next to the massive ice chunks for scale!

Tsing Ma Bridge standing tall above the rocky shores of Ma Wan channels
Ballymagorry, Strabane, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland
During summer I often spend my days traversing the coasts of Ireland, mainly due to how stunning our beaches and waters look during these warmer seasons. What attracts myself and many others to the sea, lakes or rivers especially for sunsets is the vast open vistas and mainly for the colourful evening reflections which dance off the water’s surface. We get a sort of “two for one deal” from nature on these lucky evenings when both the sky and the surface glows with vibrant tones. However, when in this “beach vibe” mode it can be easy to overlook the simpler beauty inland which is often hidden in plain sight.
Every so often I stop whilst on route and stroll onto these everyday crop fields in hope of a warm lit sunset. On this evening, I stood alone amongst the sounds of many birds and insects flying around and a few muffled cow moo's in the distance. The sun touched the horizon then released its vibrant rays which flowed outwards and reflected off these ears of barley. Shimmered from yellow to gold then amber to red depending on which way the gentle breeze swayed the crop. It was almost like staring onto the waves of the ocean on how the sunlight danced, shifted and changed due to surface reflection movements
