The spectacular Edo-Tokyo Museum, whose design is inspired by the traditional Japanese rice loft, is home to a striking depiction of the history of Tokyo over the centuries.
A fascinating journey through time with painstaking reproductions of homes of samurai and craftsmen, replicas of a kabuki theatre, the old red-light district and emblematic landmarks such as Nihonbashi Bridge.

The Edo-Tokyo Museum (江戸東京博物館 Edo Tōkyō Hakubutsukan) is a museum of the history of Tokyo during the Edo period. It was established in 1993. The main features of the permanent exhibitions are the life-size replica of the Nihonbashi, which was the bridge leading into Edo; the Nakamuraza theatre; and scale models of towns and buildings from the Edo, Meiji and Shōwa periods.
The museum is adjacent to the Ryōgoku Kokugikan. It was designed by Kiyonori Kikutake. The distinctive elevated shape of the museum building is modelled after an old storehouse in the kurazukuri style.

For tourists, Bangkok has a feast of attractions to offer. The city is dotted with 400 glittering Buddhist temples of great beauty and fascination, magnificent palaces, classical dance extravaganzas, numerous shopping centres and traditional ways of life, especially along the “Venice of the East” timeless canals and the Chao Phraya River of the “River of Kings” winding through the city. It is worth taking a trip along its waters before exploring further into different canals to take a glimpse of old Bangkok.

The Rhine Falls (Rheinfall in German) is the largest plain waterfall in Europe.
The falls are located on the High Rhine between the municipalities of Neuhausen am Rheinfall and Laufen-Uhwiesen, near the town of Schaffhausen in northern Switzerland, between the cantons of Schaffhausen and Zürich. They are 150 m (450 ft) wide and 23 m (75 ft) high. In the winter months, the average water flow is 250 m³/s, while in the summer, the average water flow is 700 m³/s. The highest flow ever measured was 1,250 m³/s in 1965; and the lowest, 95 m³/s in 1921.
Around this time last year, I was planning a couple of trips. One of which was a three week trip to Australia. Here is a shot from a beautiful spot I got to see on that trip. It is the Twelve Apostles down along the Great Ocean Road in the southern part of Victoria. It’s a full day’s drive to go from Melbourne all the way down to the Twelve Apostles and back. The beautiful limestone cliffs and rock formations that are constantly being eroded by the bombarding waves from the Pacific Ocean make the drive well worth it, though. There are beautiful beaches and rainforest along the Great Ocean Road, as well.
The city of Trat is a starting point for Ko Chang island group or forays into outlying gem and Cambodian markets. Those enthralled by shopping will be delighted as Trat has more markets for its size than almost any other town in Thailand due to Cambodian coastal trade.

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris, commonly known as Sacré-Cœur Basilica and often simply Sacré-Cœur is a Roman Catholic church and minor basilica, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in Paris, France. A popular landmark, the basilica is located at the summit of the butte Montmartre, the highest point in the city. Sacré-Cœur is a double monument, political and cultural, both a national penance for the excesses of the Second Empire and socialist Paris Commune of 1871 crowning its most rebellious neighborhood, and an embodiment of conservative moral order, publicly dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which was an increasingly popular vision of a loving and sympathetic Christ.

It’s Fleet Week here in San Francisco! Caught the airshow yesterday featuring an F-35 and P-51, as well as the incomparable Blue Angels. I was down near the Wave Organ (near the yacht club) in the Marina… Probably the best location, yet, that I’ve watched the show from.
Thailand formerly known as Siam, is a country located at the centre of the Indochina peninsula in Southeast Asia.
I call this photograph "close but no cigar." This last week was Fleet Week in San Francisco. The annual (except last year because of the pandemic) water-military-focused week that culminates in 3 days worth of airshows which always conclude with the Blue Angels. I’ve gone to at least one show every year for a number of years now since jets are cool and it’s a nice thing to practice my photography skills on. In the past I’ve located myself where most of the crowd is, which is where most of the "stunts" are performed in front of, but this time I wanted to try to find a different spot that might be interesting, so I went to the top of Fort Point underneath the Golden Gate Bridge. While they do fly over the bridge a handful of times, and there is a nice view of the SF skyline, even with a long 300mm lens, most of the time my view of the jets was small. There was a little bit of opportunity for interesting shots with the bridge, like this failed attempt trying to catch them framed by one of the towers, but I don’t think enough opportunities to warrant shooting from this location, again. I’m still going through the huge set of photos I captured and have a roll of color film that needs developing, too.

More information about Kunming lake and the Summer Palace in Beijing can be found at my website: www.abookaboutchina.com/location/Summer-Palace
Kunming Lake (昆明湖) forms the centre of the Summer Palace gardens in Beijing, China. In fact, the lake takes up most of the parks area, covering 2.2 square kilometres or three quarters of the garden grounds. The lake is relativly shallow, with a depth of just 1.5 mtres. The lake is largely man made though a small pond existed on the site before development. The lake was created by Guo Shoujing, originally as a reservoir for the nearby capital, during the Yuan dynasty (1291). The area was converted into the imperial garden between 1750 and 1764, during the reign of Emperor Qianlong. Work was undertaken to expand the existing lake at that time. The spoil from excavating the lake was used to form the nearby Longevity Hill. The lake develops a thick lair of ice during the winter, during which time it can be used for skating. In the summer, a large number of small boats cover the lake.
